  1. Tories win Hartlepool by election. I'd suggest in part possibly because of their willingness to get back to a normal life? Will be interesting to see how the Scottish election goes and will the SNP take a dent for similar reasons. For the avoidance of doubt, I'm no Tory. But I think people are now just desperate to get back to normal.
  2. You're one step away from saying the virus itself is ageist and racist
  3. Woke up to heavy snowfall this morning at half five - it's May!
  4. Do you really think OF fans will take a couple of hundred to these games? Their attendances in the Challenge Cup would suggest otherwise. Attendances, for example in Germany aren't bolstered because a team is playing 'Bayern B'. A joining fee yes, but any increase in attendances due to the involvement of OF 'B' sides I would suggest will not pan out.
  5. I agree - its good to finally see the language softening, but as Todd points out, these industries are needing something a bit more concrete. One other thing - its hardly a great advert for indepence where you're unashamedly looking to England for carrying out these experiments.
  6. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-56986847 This is a concern. Presumably vaccinations, hospitalisations, number in ICU in Moray are on a par with the rest of the country. But here we are already getting freaked out at an upturn in infection numbers. Fast forward a couple of months when infections across Scotland will no doubt be higher than they are at present, presumably the calls for going up the levels (perhaps even for Lockdown #3) will become pretty loud.
  7. Wouldn't be so sure. Also what counts as vaccinated - one dose or two? Also the vaccines don't properly kick in for a couple of weeks after the injection (s). Will be interesting to see what route they go down.
  8. These are not "English" trials. They are UKG trials and therefore the data they provide is freely available to all devolved authorities. Scotland, Wales and NI do not need to be hosting trial events. True, but it's very convenient that all these trials are taking place in England. Clear to see that SG would be quite content to allow England to do all the leg work.
  9. England trialling new ideas again, whilst SG continues to do absolutely nothing. https://news.sky.com/story/covid-19-daily-lateral-flow-tests-could-be-viable-alternative-to-quarantine-for-people-exposed-to-coronavirus-12292850
  10. Can't see it myself (certainly not in Scotland)
  11. Disappointed Syngenta won't be playing at Grangemouth Stadium. I'm guessing there's an issue with them playing there ar EOS level?
  12. The whole team emerge from the tunnel en masse at the same time do they not?
  13. Cause they've shared a dressing room with an infectious individual. My six year old son was told to isolate by Test and Protect after a positive case at his Easter football camp, so I don't see the difference? Unless, again, JRG are turning a blind eye as it suits them.
  14. Whole Clyde team will presumably now need to isolate? JRG, who have failed the game so badly throughout this, now trying to a blind eye to a positive case when it suits as the logistical headache in postponing the game, is something they couldn't be arsed with.
  15. Beginning to find Nicola Sturgeon's tweets about books, and visiting book shops down in Wigtown today a bit off. Those of us, and of which there are many, whose hobbies and interests include attending sports events, gigs, running events etc continue to have to take a back seat. Meanwhile Sturgeon charging around the country, buying books by the shelf-load, having a whale of time.
  16. I quite agree with you, but it's surely hasn't escaped your attention that Scotland hasmy even got as far as yet begin test events.
  17. Not Parkrun, but interesting all the same (interesting in that England exploring these things, and Scotland still doing the square root of f**k all)
  18. As ever England are ahead of us. There's been 50 odd Junior Park Runs back up and running down there, although I've not heard about any adult events. Up here, as you'd expect, absolultely nothing. Would love to get back to Parkrun (or 10Ks - marathons beyond my clapped out achilles these days)
  19. But Devi Sridhar, public health professor from the University of Edinburgh, disagreed. She told the programme: "We still have a lot of unvaccinated 40-year-olds, 30-year-olds - these are people who are still at risk of serious illness. "I find it astonishing that, while there's anti-lockdown protests in Britain, we're seeing across the world absolute carnage in terms of lives being lost outside hospitals because people can't get care." She added: "People want to go to places and do want to enjoy their lives, but they want to do it safely because I think in general the public understands this is such a serious virus and you don't want to acquire it at any age." Sridhar moving the goalposts right there
