Interesting to see what Greig cough* Toro does with this team in summer and what players sign or he attracts to the club.

    I would keep.

Fleming - has one more season at his age

    Steele - solid defender

Denham - best signing this season along with Fleming.

Newton - has been strong every season

walls - top player like newton, Steele and Healy I feel he can be our future captain if we keep hold of those players and walls.

Healy - probably our best player if you take the loan signings away but needs be consistent.

Shepherd - definitely our only striker

    Shiavone - keep another season

    Not Fussed

millar - has been disappointing this season and his motivation has dipped from season relegated so wouldn’t be too fussed if he stayed or left.

mcmanus - he came back into side but I still don’t see the fuss or what he brings other than run about looking like jedward no offence.

omar - he has only featured 1/2 even though he’s been injured most I maybe hash but he’s I’m not fussed.

beveridge - if he’s only back up keeper we can afford them I’ll have him one more season so he belongs in this category but with Fleming at 39 years of age and a guy not really played much than play for Oakley etc I rather see someone takeover Fleming in future with bit more experience to challenge Fleming. Happily take Jamieson if kelty don’t want him either and is onloan at Airdrie for example.

murdoch - his age isn’t getting any younger tbf so therefore falls into this category.

page - one of strangest signings and has done well but again not fussed if he stays or moves on.

    release

mackenzie Williamson - youth players are roll of dice sometimes they good and some that will fade probably hasn’t made the cut and I won’t be surprise considering he’s the oldest of the u20 team.

cunningham - he looked to have found his level onloan there, has struggled at outlet level and found nowhere near the first team.

slattery - people banging on he’s due testimonial etc etc but if he’s not getting near first team it’s time to move on.

mansouri - isn’t going be near the first team

williamson - his time is up, signed a year since his trial last July.

trouten - I feel we’re a better team without him, I dunno what he does rather his penalties and his experience minus he will be a lot older next season and slower.

    loans

Young - he’ll probably go back out onloan to another side but we didn’t see enough playing time or add anything apart from one goal against a poor Stranraer side that was well beaten under hamill on their day.

ferguson - he was my favourite player and deserve the awards he received, disappointed he signed a contract at st Johnstone I would have him sign up asap or back onloan again. Fantastic player.

Steven - like young he struggled at times but gave everything for the cause. would definitely sign him or give another season.

denholm - young player help us out in numbers but would like see more of Aidan.

Quinn - he looks the part I would sign him up asap if Montrose don’t want him and pre season he will be back to player we had before his injuries tbf.

but it’ll be interesting to see what we do now the play offs are over.

I'll respond Mr E so as not to let you down. First time poster so please be gentle. I've been to most games with the exception of Elgin away. Where we are is purely down to the poor quality of all bar one team in the league and they presently sit top. Yesterday was a hard watch, 10 men and plenty of attack minded players but we fanny about at the back. A goal was inevitable. Play the game in their half at least. £18 is tough to pay, even worse watching that.

The signings have been pretty poor. I've read comments on Facebook and AFTN and in fairness a lot of people make good points.

Fleming looks shaky, Mercer uninterested, Steel gives me the fear every time he is on the ball and Murdoch looks like he is towing a caravan. Denham has been outstanding and has real potential. Palmer looks like a duck out of water and what has happened to Williamson, was excellent in pre season and league Cup! Taken off at 2-0 up at Annan and hasn't been seen since. We drew 2-2.

Ferguson will not be here after Christmas, he has been outstanding and deserves to be playing in a higher league. Fingers crossed he stays, didn't have a great game at Stenny when Liam Craig was watching so hopefully that works in our favour.

Trouten looks uninterested unless it's a penalty, Balde flatters to deceive and Steven needs to go back to U/20 football. He came on yesterday, did nothing and failed to chase anything down. Has he even scored? Healy has been good, dips in with great goals but only in flashes and Shepherd runs himself ragged. We miss Walls energy and a true dirty leader who roasts his team mates and motivates those around him.

Hopefully Mcdonald has some fresh ideas. To be fair, a good run but Forfar, Bonnyrigg and Elgin aren't good teams. Stenny beat us twice, Stirling ran over us and Dumbarton bullied us.

Anyhow at least we ain't down at the trapdoor. Mon the Fife.

It is work in progress and you cannot deny that we are now more competitive than we were earlier in the season.  I agree about the "fannying" (what does that actually mean) about too much at the back, but in that game against Elgin, they made it very difficult to get through them after the sending off and in hindsight, the long ball launched into their box would probably have been the better option in the 1st half.  BUT, after they scored, they looked for the winner and their defence was not so solid as a result, what happened?  We started to get through them still playing football, not long balls, and forced the penalty to win the game.  You said we were bullied by Dumbarton, but so did Bonnyrigg at Bayview and we gave them a good gubbing at Bonnyrigg!  If you can't see any progress, then you are blinkered.

Despite going down 10 men so early, I thought that Elgin were very dangerous on the break with Hester coming close a few times but equally he should have done better on at least 2 occasions.............

On the break was a long ball launched from deep inside their own half.  Very little football from them apart from the free kick in the first half which was well worked and probably deserved a goal.  Otherwise, they got their just desserts, with their brutal tackling and their desperate attempts to con the referee with their squealing as if someone was trying to kill them any time they were tackled.  As said earlier - pathetic and embarrassing!

Went bust the season after I am sure. My work mate was on the phone to Bobby while he was deciding between us and Ballingry and I was obviously like come to us etc etc and then he mentioned what Ballingry were paying guys (cash in hand too presumably) and it was absolutely wild

Dunno if East Fife paid anything for Wallace though he just rejected a new deal with us and it was genuinely because he didn’t want to play in the Championship

Probable reason he didn't want to go into the championship was because he thought Arbroath would have been cannon fodder!  Whatever the reason, I bet he regrets that he didn't stay with you?

It really doesn't matter. You can have a full house and still barely hear the other end.  Going back a good few years but a bit more thought should have went into it when they agreed to rebuild and relocate.

I agree, it's not going to change but neither are folks opinions.

Are ye deef??  Cannae hear the other end??  Definitely deef!

No disrespect to East Fife (joking, f**k them) this is a game we should be looking to win by a couple of goals. Yes, our defence has been very poor the last 2 games but for me this is a game where we should be so much on the front foot that the defence won’t be tested that much. Scoring goals definitely hasn’t been a problem recently and with McHugh and Longridge on fire we should be looking at 3 points.

As for selection, I would like Gillespie in from the start in place of Thomson. I just don’t see a player in Thomson and his laziness in tracking back has cost us a few goals.

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Has it been signed or only just verbally agreed

Darren Young Pens New Contract at East Fife

East Fife FC are delighted to confirm that manager Darren Young has extended his contract until the summer of 2023. We are sure that this will continue the stability within the first team set up. Darren already has begun his planning for next season and we hope to be able to announce our first new signings of the summer within the next few days.

Darren Young commented: “'I am delighted to have agreed a two-year extension to my contract and I am already excited about what next season will bring for us.

“I feel that we have had progress year on year since I came to the club and this season, we were within two goals of securing a top 5 finish and ultimately finished 5 points off second spot in the league.”

“Every year League One has been more difficult than the year before and the forthcoming season will be just the same with some ambitious & experienced clubs joining us. We will however, be well prepared for the challenges ahead with the pre-season training starting in just 4 very short weeks.”

Have you considered that the JRG may have had this very kind of scenario in their protocols?

If the JRG had already considered and pre-decided on their reaction to this type of situation (re. Positive test result at short notice) it wouldn't take long to instruct clubs to play.

Are we really going to start allowing teams to decide unilaterally when to play and when not to?

The JRG are a neutral arbiter who base their decisions on informed guidance from professionals.

I can understand East Fife players alarm causing them to refuse to play. However, they should, after an investigation, take any punishment that may come their way.

I'm not sure on what basis any of that can be described as "pure arrogance".

Amongst other things, the big differences would be that clubs can currently furlough their players while they're not playing, every club is in the same boat in terms of match sharpness, and it doesn't involve any form of contact extensions or anything like that.

Inconvenience for FT teams not acceptable, but is for PT teams.

You think two part-time clubs continuing to play with testing constitutes the same risk as hundreds of part-time clubs continuing to play with no testing?

Just remember, these tests are only telling you that you have not got the virus at the time it was taken, just like an MOT on a car.  Out of interest, what do the FT players do with their time after their couple of hours training each day?

I don't see how the season can be extended into the summer unless the play-offs are scrapped. The Premiership has to be done by the end of May to comply with UEFA regulations. That means the Premiership play-off likely has to be in May too, which means the Championship has to be done by May. Obviously this is fine as it stands because both leagues are still playing.

However, if League 1 carries on into the summer, then you can't expect the 9th placed Championship club to wait around for a month or more, possibly extending their players' contracts and so on.

Why not?  But it is okay for League  1, 2 and below to have to wait 3 weeks minimum just now before they play again and has been suggested to play 2 games a week for the rest of the season.  Your comment is pure arrogance.

Clearly went off the post someone put in here emoji23.png I don't care about prices.
Yeah 18 is a bit much for this level but I know Falkirk shouldn't be at this level which is why it's higher and so be it, clearly better players at a game against Falkirk than a game against Stranrear where its £14.

I went with the 60 odd year old as concession and two 30 year olds and 15 year old and 13 year olds as adults and child as under 12.

Didnt think about 12-16 being concession hence the misprice.

Concession for older supporters starts at age 60 with East Fife and 65 with Falkirk.

We’ve got a multi-millionaire owner who is plugging the gaps. The “managers fund” as I’m sure you can work out, is a fund specifically ring fenced for players funded by the fans by way of standing orders - mine came out today. I’m sure East Fife had something similar, though unsurprisingly it was far less lucrative.

How come your team is only in League 1 then, having a multi-millionaire owner?? 🤔

I suppose it’s swings and roundabouts. East Fife charge £2 more than Airdrie for concessions - £12 opposed to £10 but adult admission is £2 cheaper at Bayview - £15 instead of £17 at the Penny Cars stadium. Free parking at Bayview but £2 at Airdrie. I personally think admission charges should be standardised across a league as you are watching the same two teams playing no matter where.

That is not a good idea with different clubs having differing costs, different sponsorships etc.  A pound here or there is nothing in the big scheme of things, but as I said, the various clubs need to be free to set their own charges to suit the way their clubs operate.  It has worked for the past 100+ years.

Edited to add, yes I added Penman and Fife Cup games but when you consider over 6000 fans attended these matches, they were clearly relevant at the times so why not?

Incidentally when was the last time EFFC had over 6000 at a home game?

Also, when was the last time Raith have played anywhere with a crowd of over 100,000?
