Hadn't realised next Club World Cup is in Jeddah in Dec; also bought the Spanish and Italian supercups (both Jan). Plus hosting Asian Cup 2027.

Also the Dakar Rally... and Asian Winter Games 2029 ...

What's next? Them hosting the Ashes?

6 weeks of good cricket on while working, embrace it, folks!

I've been looking forward to this tournament. 😎

  3. Utterly mental this. Even if you do include the 3 South American countries in this bid to commemorate 1930, surely you give them more than 1 game there? At least you can play 1 group in each of these countries in its entirety, then plan it in a way that whoever qualify from those groups have 2 extra days rest before the second round to allow for travel. It would still be crazy even then, but at least less mental than the current plan with 1 game in the 3 SA countries.

Ajax game abandoned again this time due to an awful injury to rkc keeper he was stretchered off with several players in tears.hopefully not as bad as it looked.

He had to be resuscitated but seems to be stable now, so fingers crossed he'll pull through...

  5. Lochee United 10-0 Letham

Football is a funny old game sometimes. After 20 minutes I thought this would be a close game. Once the first goal went in, Letham's heads just seemed to drop and it became surprisingly easy. Jayden Ferguson scored 4, Danny Cavanagh scored a hattrick as well, other goals were for Paul Scobie, Kerr Hay and newbie Corey Gray who we just signed from Downfield. Brilliant performance, absolutely relentless. 👍

Are Ajax likely to get any further punishment like point deductions?

For the abandoned game, unlikely to be anything else than a (potentially hefty) fine. It has to get really bad and regular for point deductions to be considered, generally not a punishment the Dutch FA hands out for crowd trouble.

For the dodgy transfer dealings, no idea tbh. Investigation is still in an early stage and obviously they get the chance to defend themselves. If they are found guilty, I don't think there has been any precedent of that in Dutch football in recent years, so time will tell! As these are international transfers, it might not just be up to the Dutch FA, UEFA/FIFA might get involved. So it can be a lengthy procedure.

  7. Feyenoord scored once more in the remaining 35 minutes and got their biggest eredivisie win ever away against Ajax as a result, 4-0. As @hague correctly said, it's not their biggest win in Amsterdam ever, but that 6-1 was not a league game and I can see my source have now also corrected their record as now they clearly mention it's the biggest eredivisie win.

This result now puts Feyenoord in 3rd, 1 point off joint league leaders PSV & AZ (although both have a game in hand to be played tonight & Wednesday respectively). Ajax are down to 14th, only 2 spots & 2 points off the drop zone. Also off the pitch their problems are increasing. They sacked their sporting director on Monday, but today it's been revealed he has been involved in dodgy dealings around transfers which could spark further trouble for Ajax.

  8. All the best to Berwick, I have good memories of my trips there. I also previously met your chairman, when I visited Tweedmouth Rangers and he was still involved there. I had a good, long, chat with him and we still stay in touch on Facebook. He seems a really good bloke to me so I hope he can manage to turn this situation around.

  9. The remaining 35 minutes will be played behind closed doors on a later date, so Ajax will still be 0-3 down for the restart.

If Feyenoord do win by 3 goals, it will be their biggest win away against Ajax in nearly 50 years. One more goal and it will be their biggest ever.

  10. Today the inter-regional cup started. The first and second rounds are regionalised, in the third round North Region clubs are playing Midlands League ones.

Pretty good video. That guy gets grief from some people but anything I've seen from him looks like he has a genuine interest in all levels of Scottish football and he's definitely nowhere near as obnoxious as some YT football folk, so I am glad he made it along to a Shire game and hopefully he does videos from other LL and below grounds. I haven't actually seen the inside of the former Firs Park for years, so I didn't appreciate how overgrown it now is, looks like a nature reserve (albeit one with cans of Strongbow Dark Fruit dotted around).

Although I do disagree we were a 'top league' team, two seasons of top flight football in nearly 150 years doesn't really count in the same way you'd consider say Dundee United to be a top flight team.

The first goal he missed was a belter:

Yeah, spot on. Some youtubers only care about their own image and end up at games with an attitude like "look, it's me!!!" and make it all about themselves. This guy clearly genuinely cares about all levels of the game and gives some smaller clubs welcome exposure. I hope he keeps doing it!

Not everything he does is to my taste, I couldn't care less about his Rangers or Celtic videos for example, but then I don't watch those videos I'm not interested in rather than moan about them. I also appreciate that with him doing it for a living, he also has to make videos about them to get the viewers/subscribers in.

Heading to Munich at the end of October and Bayern play Darmstadt at home that weekend just wondering if anyone has been to Allianz Arena and how easy will it be too get 3 tickets together?

If you don't mind which end you are in, you might be better off buying tickets for the away end. Darmstadt probably won't sell out to members so you might be able to buy away end tickets in the general sale through them.

Bayern is very hard to get tickets for and many groundhoppers who want to go there actually end up going in the away end with a smaller club who don't tend to sell it out.

They appear to be a bit of a shambles on and off the park, the appointment of Schreuder was seen by the fans as underwhelming at best - a lot of my Dutch mates thought they should've gone for Peter Bosz who is doing pretty well at PSV, in the past their recruitment has usually been pretty decent but since they sacked Overmars ( sacked for being a creepy dick pic sending weirdo ) it's gone a bit flat, a lot of bickering in the background hasn't helped, they remind me of Liverpool a few years ago when they always seemed to employ Liverpool minded people behind the scenes, can't see Schreuder lasting long.

Yep, for a long time, Feyenoord were constantly a shambles on and off the park and very poorly run with much bickering, while Ajax were the stable, well-run, club. Roles well and truly reversed currently.

What team do you support in the Netherlands mate?

Excelsior Rotterdam, so I was happy with the draw between ourselves and Ajax. :D

It was only the fourth time in history that we got any kind of result against Ajax, 3 draws and a win, all but 1 draw was at home. I was at the game we won, in the pub after the game (wearing my Excelsior shirt), I immediately got offered free beer by Feyenoord fans who were there too, lol. They weren't too happy with me a month later when we beat them too, mind!

What is happening with Ajax this season?

It's still a bit early obviously, but especially 2 poor draws harmed them, against Excelsior & Fortuna Sittard. Losing away at Twente isn't anything to be ashamed of as that's one of the harder games. They lost a few players but normally you'd expect Ajax to be able to get adequate replacements, as they have a decent record of doing so. Maybe they will gel later on, but this seems to be a poor team for their standards.

  16. Last weekend, Ajax dropped points again. This time they lost 3-1 against FC Twente which saw them drop to the 12th place in the table. It's still very early on obviously but it's still remarkable. On Sunday is the perfect game for them to try to climb out of it when they host arch rivals Feyenoord in "De Klassieker" (The Classic). But if they lose that one, there can be early pressure on their manager Maurice Steijn.

Just like Twente, the other teams on 100% won again: PSV beat NEC 4-0 and AZ beat Sparta 2-0. Feyenoord remain unbeaten and are in 4th after spanking Heerenveen 6-1. At the bottom of the table, RKC & FC Utrecht both won while Almere got a draw, leaving Volendam as the only remaining team still on 0 points.

I was at Clach v Formartine yesterday. You can see why they're top of the league. Solid at the back and lethal in front of goal. Especially the boy Wade. His first goal was a great strike.

Did they strengthen much during pre-season? They looked awfully weak when we beat them 6-1 in a PSF and according to some of the Formartine people I spoke to that day, they were playing their strongest XI.

Obviously, a PSF doesn't necessarily say much. We lost 2-0 to Hermes and are unbeaten top of the league. But I was just wondering.

Took in the Lochee derby on Saturday and it was a closer game than I envisioned it would have been, Harp gave United a good run for their money and really should've had at least one goal, particularly early in the 2nd half when they were peppering United's net.

Better team won in the end though, some clearly good talent at the Chee (and that's ignoring Bobby Linn), though it looked an off day for Jaden Ferguson. Very emotional lad, screaming every time United gave the ball away, funniest moment being when he was dispossessed in midfield and just stood watching in a huff while the ball was still being contested right in front of him.

Yeah, he is normally a great finisher but from what I've heard (I couldn't make the game myself), he just had a bad day and got frustrated. He is still quite young so these things happen.

Saturday was one of those games we'd have dropped points last season. We missed a few players due to injuries & holidays, but with us having a bigger squad now, we had enough cover. Some of the younger lads got a start as a result which can only be good for them!
