  1. Out of principle, I don't go to any competitive games between a B-team and a first team. I avoid the LL B-teams, but also Stranraer reserves & Stirling Uni EOS when groundhopping. If Lochee United were ever to get into the Challenge Cup (we'd first need promotion and then a top 4 finish so if it happens, it will take some time), I wouldn't go to a game against a Premiership B-team even if it was at home.

Some time ago, when I was in The Netherlands my Dutch team Excelsior were playing PSV B at home, so despite not often getting the chance to see Excelsior I didn't go.

  2. This is why the East Region didn't bother with the League Cup this season. It's always played late in the season so it can be cancelled if too many clubs have a fixture backlog and that is what happened now. And that made perfect sense now.

  3. Ideally, we'd get a few new clubs so we can just go to 2 division of (for example) 12. I am not aware of any new clubs applying though (doesn't mean there aren't any as I don't always hear all the rumours). I don't mind the 20 team league with playing each other twice, it's a better alternative than 2x 10 imo. But I can see it's frustrating for lower teams.

Aye, taunting Joost about his dead parents and he supposedly whacked one of them.

    Chaos when he is disqualified.

I'm normally not a violent person, but if he was really taunted about his dead parents, I can't blame him for that reaction...

  5. In the US, and to a lesser extend in the UK, social conservatives are generally also firmly on the right on most other issues. But elsewhere it can be quite common for social conservatives to have other views that are on the left. In The Netherlands there is a party (ChristianUnion) who are social conservatives but firmly on the left economically, have a consistent record of voting for workers' rights, to improve social security and things like that. Their explanation is that from a Christian point of view, they are meant to care for the "weaker" in society. So if anything, they feel that it's more Christian to be on the left on those issues.

  6. Joost Klein comes over as a genuinely decent bloke who has gone through a lot in his life. If he does well, I'd be happy for him. But it's definitely not my taste of music.

@Marten is the only person in the world who hates this song

I know plenty more... Message in the lyrics is nice, but musically it's horrendous.

    PTTGOYN thread for this

I always call it Czech Republic. One of my best friends over here is Czech and she hates the new name. She always calls it Czech Republic and I am used to calling it the same as a result.

  9. Well, tonight time for me to be embarrassed of being Dutch again. Our song is just awful (and that's not because of the political, pro-EU, message in it as I agree with that).

Wait...did I just imagine the EBU banning Russia in 2022 then revoking EBU membership for going to war with Ukraine?

The ban wasn't for the war. The ban was for Russia violating EBU rules on media freedom (not saying they're not hypocrites, but purely based on that, the ban is justifiable).

Ayr United's Scottish Cup match in 2008 against Lochee United was the darkest game I've ever seen. Ayr very fortunate to get a replay. Afternoon kickoff on the tuesday before christmas and the streetlights were on for the last 15 minutes. The video below doesn't do it justice (I had the camera gain and

Thankfully nowadays we have lights. Also our pitch is a lot better than it was back then. This season, we've played a number of games when other games in the area (like at Dens Park) have been called off.
