Montrose Roselea 2-4 Lochee United
I couldn't make it myself, but I heard it was a good win against strong opposition. Potential banana skin avoided and on to Saturday! Craig Moore, our new loanee from Dundee United, scored his first goal.

Liquidation is, by definition, irreversible.
Except in the imagination of Sevco fans.
I more mean if a winding up order could still be appealed for example, it's not yet irreversible. Although admittedly I could have worded it better

That alone is enough reason not to want B-teams in the league. They devalue the league, that is very clear.

Admission by application as mentioned, though it needs all three tier 6 champions to not have a licence - as it stands next season only one EOS Premier club (currently 12th in the league) would be without a licence...
The only other way admission by application would happen is in the case of EK up, Forfar or Elgin down AND 1 or more LL clubs resigning / getting liquidated. Then the resigned/liquidated club would be replaced by application.
In case of liquidation, it would have to be irreversible before the start of the season. Otherwise the LL would run with 15 member clubs and the bottom club next season would get a reprieve unless the HL champions get promoted and club 42 are relegated to the LL (and application again possible in the case of LL champions up / club 42 relegating to HL).

I would make voting compulsory, but would put a space under the details of the candidates where voters could write "none of the above" or their own preferred candidate.
In Australia, where they use this system, it has been suggested that Mickey Mouse often receives most write-in votes, sometimes beating some (or all) official candidates. This may be an urban myth though.
In Belgium they have compulsory voting but with "none of the above" on the ballot paper. On a local level, voting NOTA en masse has actually achieved change. There was one city where in the local council election NOTA had more votes than even the largest party. This was caused by a large number of scandals and infighting. Even though these votes were ignored for distributing seats, it was a huge wake-up call for the local politicians and actually spurred on change there as the different parties clearly wanted to win those voters back.

Brilliant, Spain like to get involved in remarkable matches. They also have the record of the fastest ever run chase in T20 international cricket, by chasing their target of 11 against Isle of Man (they got them 10 all out!) in only 2 balls. They hit 2 sixes.

Not to worry lads , we will get a couple derbys next season
Would Brechin City v Lochee United be classed as a derby?

Should they get relegated but survive as a club this season, only to get liquidated next season, it's clearer in the rules. They'll be deemed to have finished bottom in that case. They won't be able to play in the PO, so their opponents get a bye.

I always prefer the Netherlands kits when they have black shorts, but they've obviously worn white a lot too (and now oranje, since UEFA/FIFA decided that one colour kits were the way to go).
Yeah, it should be orange shirts and black shorts.

If Edinburgh City go out the game, would 1 team automatically go up from LL and then 2nd placed team in the play off with bottom of league 2?
From what I read, clubs that cease to be members of the SPFL are deemed to be bottom of their division, but it's then up to the discretion of the board what happens. I.e., a Rangers situation, with a newco starting in League 2, is technically still possible. I wouldn't expect that with Edinburgh City but there would be nothing stopping the SPFL to let the PO go ahead as normal and then fill the vacancy by application. Obviously, they can also simply scratch the PO, so club 42 stay in the league and the HL/LL play-off winners get promoted automatically.

That is a absolute cracking top imo.
Not many Dutch fans will agree with you. Obviously, it still has a special place as we won our only major trophy in it, but Dutch football fans pretty much universally agree that the kit was very ugly.

There was only one defender around, but he was in front of the attacker so no idea how the referee could think it was DOGSO. In fact not even sure what offence you would be giving the GK a yellow, can it even be classed as stopping a promising attack when the attacker didn't have possession and the defender would've cleared it?
Yeah, 1 defender indeed, that was me mixing things up.
But indeed, no way this was a DOGSO. A yellow can be justified for a deliberate handball, but it's not a red.

Marco Van Basten and Ruud Gullit being interviewed after scoring the goals in The Netherlands 2-0 win over the USSR in the final of Euro 88, poignantly and ironically played in the same stadium, the Olympistsdion in Munich where the Dutch had lost the 1974 World Cup final to hosts West Germany.
Beyond mental that this is the only major international honour for a country synonymous with producing incredible players and coaches.
The only main trophy we've ever won in senior men's football was in probably the ugliest kits we've ever had. Maybe we should get another ugly kit in...

That wasn't worth a red card. Even if it was outside the box (which I doubt), it wasn't a direct goal scoring opportunity with 3 defenders around so should still only have been a yellow.

Sorry don't no the full draw as was just told last night from a mate that letham had lochee in the next round. The draw was made last night so I'm sure somebody on here will have it?
The ones I know:
Tayport v East Craigie
Letham v Lochee United1 -
Good game for us after the disappointment of Wednesday night. A few of our better players were rested, but the fringe players stepped in really well. Great team performance. Craig Moore, our loanee from Dundee United who was announced yesterday, played his first game. He's only 18 but looks like a guy with plenty of potential.

if the league winner has an SFA Licence they could go into a potential 3 way play off with the North Caledonian league and North Regional league (Aberdeenshire etc) to then play the bottom team in the Highland league. There has only been 1 winner of all 3 leagues with a licence thus far when Banks O' Dee won the North Regional league they should have played Fort William but that match never happened as Fort William withdrew.
Only Lochee United and Tayport hold the licence at present for the 20 Midlands league teams
I am not aware of the existence of development squads
No development squads indeed.
If we win the league (Tayport are too far behind now), we'll almost certainly go straight into the play-off against the bottom HL team. There are no licensed teams in the North Region and it looks highly unlikely for either Golspie Sutherland or Fort William to win the NCL.

The coalition talks with the Dutch "Freedom Party" PVV of Geert Wilders have collapsed. They were basically not willing to compromise on a number of issues. Including wanting to commit to unfunded spending / tax cuts. This resulted in the centrist party NSC pulling out of the talks, there is now no chance of a majority coalition. Wilders can try to go for a minority coalition. That would be very unstable though and very likely will lead to new elections this year. If Wilders doesn't manage to form an administration at all, the initiative to form a government will be with the runners-up of the last election: the Labour/Green coalition.

February is going to be massive for us. We have 7 games, 4 Saturdays and 3 Wednesdays. We'll play 2 of our 3 games in hand over Broughty and play Broughty themselves. It's going to be very tough, but there will be a better picture of where we stand at the end of the month.

Obviously don’t have to tell you, as you will know what you are getting.
But Patty has always impressed at Forfar, and the vast majority including myself are extremely gutted to see him go.
I enjoyed watching him play and wish him and Lochee United nothing but the best for the future.
Good Luck.
Cheers mate, he made an impact straight away on Saturday against a Scone side who were difficult to break down. Once he came on, we scored 4 goals, he scored the last one.

Lochee United 4-1 Scone Thistle
Typical game of 2 halves. Plenty of chances in the first half, but we didn't do enough with them. And what you often see in such cases is that the opposition then does manage to score. Scone scored with a free-kick just before HT, which was very well taken to be fair, but the foul should never have been given away, silly foul to make. The second half we were much more dangerous, Ryan Paterson coming on made a big difference. Connor Coupe scored the equaliser, goals by Bobby Linn, Kerr Hay & finally Ryan Paterson got us the 4-1 win.

I haven't updated this thread for far too long. But some exciting signing news today. After getting Connor Coupe from Downfield (he was previously Dundee), we now got Ryan Patterson back from Forfar Athletic, our player of the year last season! Two major signings for us!

Different from what I've heard. I've been told the penalty was a stonewaller & our 4th goal killed the game off and there were no troubles for us after.
