  1. It's been acknowledged previously that the players with 2 year contracts were staying regardless. It is what it is. Yeah it was a shame that 2 of them were Milne and Hilson. Hilson has looked ok on the extremely rare occasions he's been fully fit. Milne just looks like a waste of a jersey. I could forgive his defences off the ball if he actually did anything of note with it. In terms of budget.....defnitely not as big a budget as Darren Young had the last couple of years but it should have been enough to build a squad. The first team squad listed has 19 in it which soinds alright. Sam Denham is out for the season. Geeks now seems to be first choice centre half leaving only loanee Harkness competing with young Aaron Weir. So only 2 young loanees for full back out of that 19. Dall looks far from ready even for thus level. Harkness is a bit better going forward but us no great shakes defensively. Vulnerable to pace and gives his man acres of space to cross. That 19 also includes the likes of mckinley and Harry Wright. Neither of whom look good enough. Includes Hilson who I'm sure has spent more time injured than fit. With a few injured you can see how quickly we get to Milne plus kids on the bench. I thought we looked a bit better against spartans with Crane at Left back. Bailey Dall isn't cutting it for me at all. With Crane seemingly injured we don't really have any other option.. I haven't been convinced yet by either josh kerr in midfield or Ally Roy partnering Carrick but both their replacements on Saturday were worse. Mckinley anonymous up front and we never got to grips in the midfield at all. I never expected miracles but I'd have liked to have seen a bit more from them especially at home.
  2. Waugh and Harkness have at least shown some signs of promise.. Of rhe other youngsters and loans only Aaron Weir has looked anywhere close to ready. Mckinley, Dall,Wright all totally disappointing. I wasn't really a fan of josh kerr in the defensive midfield role but I'm not sure we have any choice. It's all very well wanting to play a patient ,passing style of football but if you can't pass the ball accurately then it's just lots of opportunity for the opposition to get it back. We don't have appear to have a suitable partner for Carrick. We don't really have any proper wide options. Adam brown looks a decent plater but isn't a hug the touchline winger. So most of the players playing wide on both sides would probably rather be more central. I genuinely don't see the answers within the squad but I think at this point it is what it is.. I'd give ferguson a chance of playing just behind Carrick maybe. We are not a good side right now.
  3. There's no width at all most of the time and it's not like we're awash with options even once injured players return. Ferguson looks like he'd be better centrally Mckinley looks raw to the point of being out of his depth at times and offered very little. Bailey Dall was so bad today I actually missed Cammy Clark. Was like the Elgin game all over again. Bonnyrigg did the basics far better and credit to them. Well organised and executed their game plan well. Our passing was horrific. Josh kerr definitely the worst culprit today. He's usually had one or two of those but today I lost count of how many times he gave the ball away. Geeks was better than the rest of the back four put together. Gaston was fine.. Carrick worked as hard as ever on pretty much scraps. Ricky waugh probably the best of the midfield but that was not saying much. Pretty despondent after today.
  4. The good = chilli chicken pakora pie Rhe bad = everything else. Utterly dire performance.
  5. feel free to come to Forthbank, no pain or misery as you don't care about the result although there still may be some useless footballers. it will be a better experience than Meadowbank and if nothing else the pie of the week should make it worth it.
  6. i'll give you the rest of it but no way any ultras will be caught on camera not wearing a black hoodie.
  7. always amazes me that the West Stand can be a few degrees cooler than the ambient temperature outside. even on a warm day, it's good to get out at half time to get some heat. I miss Annfield too. the freedom of the ground and being able to stand wherever you wanted. under the covered terrace in the second half. Had a couple of nice sunny September days on the South Terrace last year but think the results were both 2-2 draws. have fun on the zipline and braving the cold water. onto the game. looking forward to being back at home. if we can perform like we did in the last home game then I'm confident of a positive result. Presume Sula will be suspended so maybe Josh Kerr drops back into defence. i'd like to see Ross Davidson and either Waugh or Ferguson in the middle of the park. last home game i remember against Bonnyrigg featured a last minute winner from Jack Leitch (assisted by his current EK teammate Tommo). that was the day i thought we were definitely going to win the league. was only 18 months ago but feels like a lifetime. a similar outcome would be great.
  8. I can't see it being a waste to the player, who has a good track record at League 2 level. Bartley's QoS team were universally awful and nobody looked good. It's early days at Stirling but it seems Maybury is at least trying to get us playing a decent style of football. I'm delighted to get Ferguson in and look forward to seeing him in red and white.
  9. both thriving in their current environments just shows how low everything had sunk last season.
  10. based on last season, he's nowhere near ready for the St Johnstone first team so if it goes well for both parties, there is every chance it could be extended.
  11. Remember him looking very good at this level previously. We don't really have a comparable player so seems like a good signing. Nobody looked good in that QOS team so I'll give him a break there.
  12. i'm in no way saying don't question the off the field stuff. my team are also terrible at communication and it is beyond frustrating. all i'm saying is that i'm not gloating at the potential ultimate misfortune of rival teams. as long as they survive as a club but have a terrible season. i'm fine with laughing at that.
  13. quite right. it could easily be any of our clubs. we've all at one time no doubt suffered from our clubs' opaque communication strategies. i don't want to see any clubs going bust. i'm happy to laugh at the performances on the park but not at the off the field stuff.
  14. we don't really have the resources to rotate much. bench is generally filled with under 20s. away performances haven't been too bad so far. last week was the first really decent home performance. i don't think it was any coincidence that we had Ross Davidson back and Adam Brown in the side to bring some experience to the midfield area. that was something that had been sorely lacking in previous weeks. hopefully it goes to penalties as we seem to be good at those now.
  15. aye that was a cracker. he's in some form right now.
  16. Well that was a bit more fun. Peach of a free kick from Ross Davidson, fit to win any game. What a way to mark your first start back in nearly a year. Everything was a little bit better. Young Harkness looked decent going forward and Adam Brown made a difference. We actually managed to get the ball wide and create. I thought Aaron weir put in a great shift when he came on too. Back four was way better than last week and Geeks was man of the match for me.
  17. Hamilton depressed me more but Meadowbank was a pretty close second......and that was with me actually seeing us winning away for the first time in years.. My away record over the last few years would get any manager sacked.
  18. i vaguely remember us being drawn away to them at one point in the cup but i didn't go. i don't remember a game at forthbank
  19. more than likely. always seems to be the way...........
  20. i'm gonna guess that it probably is. good time for them to come. I'm beginning to forget what a home goal looks like, let alone a win. Spartans don't seem to be scoring much either.
  21. as usual, we agree on a lot. midfield was nonexistent again. i don't think Weir and Wright are ready either but we aren't exactly awash with replacements. on the playing style comments, the only team i really remember playing that way and having much success was Danny Lennon's Clyde. i certainly think its more difficult to implement than a more direct style and attempting it with many positions being occupied by inexperienced lads is brave to say the least. it could still work but i think it needs different personnel to make it work. IF Ross Davidson can come back to anything like his best form then would help the centre of midfield greatly. i still think we've got problems out wide. we don't have any attacking threat from full back or wide midfield and looking at the squad, i still don't know where that's coming from. Gaston has a bit of a mare on Saturday but has generally showed he's a decent keeper at this level. we've got 3 centre halves who should be fine and we should have enough up front. there's just a total lack of balance in the squad. we're forcing out best striker in Carrick to play more of an attacking midfield role. i don't have the answers. i thought the centre halves look more comfortable in the 3 but there's no really good candidates for the wing back roles then. if we play a back four then none of our full backs get forward to provide width and the wide midfielders have been ineffective at best.
  22. Agree with all that. I was very happy to see Davidosn back and even Milne. We've got a pretty much invisible midfield right now other than Ricky waugh. Ally Roy has been pretty disappointing so far. Mckinley seems limited but hardworking and at least puts himself about. Absolutely gutted at the performance today. As bad as we've been at home in years. Wing backs also totally missing in an attacking sense.
