Stirling V Alloa. No controversy here.
WattersIsGod replied to Dumb yatt's topic in Scottish League 1 General Chatter
forecast is a bit stormy for Saturday afternoon (again). it was pretty windy last time out at Forthbank as well. we will need to be a lot better than the first Alloa home game. we were absolutely rotten that day. that was the beginning of the end for the south terracing as well. the wee 'ultras' dropping their firework and running away, apparently never to be seen inside the ground again. next game there were about 20 of us on it and then shortly after it was closed. really getting to crunch time now and we quite simply have to be taking points from our home games. we haven't picked up loads of points but we're definitely in better form than we were then. it's time to start turning it into points. i'd happily take another 1-0 like 2 weeks ago. hopefully Carrick is fit again. i think Offord has done enough to justify another start as well. -
League 1 23/24 Final table predictions
WattersIsGod replied to Kelheart's topic in Scottish League 1 General Chatter
I just think there's something off with that Hamilton team. Reminds me of multiple teams we've had who could flatter to deceive at times but were soft as putty when it really counted. In our first meeting they had us 2 0 down going on 5 but basically collapsed when we got one back. The difference between that and when we scored against Falkirk was massive. At a minimum it's the second best squad in the league so finishing a decent second is no disaster but I can see where their fans dissatisfaction is coming from. They watch them every week and their belief seems to confirm what im seeing. Just because they may have underachieved it doesn't take away from Falkirk dominance of the league either.... -
League 1 23/24 Final table predictions

from what i've seen of both teams this season (3 times each) i'd agree with you. This looks like 'as good as it gets' with Rankin. Falkirk clearly improved from last season. player for player differences are minimal ability wise. it's the team spirit and belief that's the difference and that has to start with the manager.- 153 replies

A Photographic History Of Scottish Football
WattersIsGod replied to Mon Dieu's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
i think i was probably at that. checked out the lineups and that makes me feel better about today's team. Only Ross McGeachie remains in the side from that team and i'd say we are a much better side today than then. Darren Young has proved to be a far better manager for us than Dave McKay. Aaron Dunsmore was in the EC lineup that day. he hasn't retired and had been with us the last two seasons before moving out on loan recently. -
It's easy to get carried away with one week's set of results this time of year. I had pretty low expectations for yesterday. Our away form has been in the main awful and we don't have the personnel or playing style to grind out many draws. We're much better at home in terms of our play but have definitely been let down by our finishing. The number of home draws where we didn't find that killer goal for a two goal lead is what's left us in this position. I'm hopeful of taking something from all of our home games. It's just whether we can score enough to win them. We've got to fancy taking something at EC and surely at least have a chance at Kelty. All to play for and could be worse.

Well done on your title. It's looked inevitable to me for a while. Far and away the best team in the league. Enjoy it. Of course Morrison is on the MD......

Hope it's a worthwhile journey for you BeePee. C'mon the binos

I genuinely thought about your tactics board after Cammy played that pass from that inverted full back position.... Look forward to seeing the twist

I won't make this one. I'd be more than happy with a draw most likely. Will need more of last weeks battling spirit. Offord is probably worth a start. I'd switch him in for Hilson and give him that second striker/right wing position. He's versatile enough to be able to play either.

did anyone hear Finlay Gray and Tony Wallace phone into SSB last night for Beat The Pundit.? was hilarious. Gordon Duncan asking what they were up to.......On our way to training. What training? football training? for who? Dumbarton........ Dumbarton's first team? best moment for me though was one of the questions was 'Who won Scottish League 2 last year?" they did pause before giving the answer. gave me a chuckle.

Nah i don't think so. I think it will be tight but we can do enough. For all that Annan have found a bit of form they still have ground to make up. Think we need to win 2 out of the 3 remaining home games and pick up another 3 or 4 points away. If we can't win away at Edinburgh then we deserve all we get. If we do that it means Annan need 14 points out of 18 which seems unlikely. All in our hands.

if we can't take something from our remaining home games and can't manage to beat Edinburgh City then we deserve ninth place. i agree they look a bit better but if you have ambitions of staying in this league then beating the bottom team who have nothing to play for is the bare minimum to expect. All of these games are going to be difficult. that's what you expect at this time of the season with everything to play for. I hope that last season's experience helps. they handled the run in extremely well last season. when the pressure was on, we were the team that buckled least.

I'm still quietly confident. We've laboured a little bit but I think we've got enough resilience and determination to finish the job. It's getting really interesting though. Yesterday's win was so valuable both for the two extra points and for confidence going into the final games. The worry for us is so many games against the rest. Lose any of those and its doubly bad. I didn't see the results all going that way yesterday and I'm sure there will be more surprises before the end of the season.

Heard that myself on the way to the game too and you are right he did speak very well. Was actually good for them to have no premier league to talk about for a change.
-
He ie definitely a bit greedy but gets a pass from me too. A lot of the time there is no obvious ball for him and either his team mates don't keep up or aren't on the same wavelength. Its certainly given us something I think we've lacked since kai fotheringham tbh with that ability to go by a man so easily and open things up.

Chilli chicken pakora pie was magic. That mullet was unbelievable. Belongs ina decade way before he was born.... I saw the note being passed too. We did improve a bit from there. Mcpake can be a bit frustrating end product wise. I think you are right. His ability to take the ball in tight spaces could make him useful centrally. The young Montrose fans need to find someone who can actually play that drum

Mighty Montrose FC Thread
WattersIsGod replied to GableEnder21's topic in Scottish League 1 General Chatter
Refreshingly honest and magnanimous in defeat. A lot of managers could learn a lot from him I'm that respect. -
Cammy Clark would have been my man of the match. Great performance especially first half. Lot of slack passing in midfield with Banner probably the worst culprit Montrose struggled to really create anything and I was quite surprised how bad they were. We really didn't get going either. It was all mostly a bit huff and puff. Thought that header from the corner that was cleared might have been over the line.but hard to say. I was really starting to think that was our chance. Spence coming on seemed to allow us to go a bit more direct. Just delighted to get there really especially the way the other results went.
