League 2 squad struggle to compete in league one.
No shock really.
We needed improvement across the squad. We didn't get it.
Here we are....
Let's hope the boys can raise themselves for 4 more games.

We did something .. but not enough..
Pretty much sums up the season tbh
Plenty effort but a lack of quality

It is what it is......
Always thought there was every chance we would end up here and here we are.
I can only.hope we can lift ourselves for another couple of battles.
Can I believe I'm going to Dumbarton on a Tuesday night again.....not really.
Am I going to do it. .....of course
I still believe we can do it. Today was gutting but you just have to pick yourself up and go again.......
At least it comes around quick.
Let's freaking go....
Another opportunity abounds and we just have to go and take it. We're gonna have to do it the hard way apparently

And it comes down to this...
Final day showdown.... no other teams involved.
Starting to get excited. When was the last time we had end of season excitement 2 years in a row?
Cmon the binos

Aye a big sign on the roundabout would be great.
Or could the young team rustle up a flag?
I'll be talking up the game in the pub beforehand and see if I can recruit a few too......

I really wish I was buzzing for Saturday but I'm not. We started off the season quite well but a few too many of the players have struggled at this level. We struggle to score and have a pretty poor record against Annan. Hopefully a big vocal support and a strong referee will help the team. Annan will do everything to waste time and I really don't blame them. A lot at stake. Just feel it will end in a draw but respect Beepee67 for the positivity. Hopefully all of us are in that frame of mind come kick off on Saturday.
Mon the Binos!
i'll be buzzing by 3 pm Saturday guaranteed. the season post mortem will have to wait.
it's the biggest game since wait.......... didn't we have a home game late last season against Annan that was quite important? i'm sure i remember one and i think it might have gone ok........
I can't say I'm delighted to be in this position but lets face it before the season began, you'd say win at home on the last day and you definitely stay up, that wasn't exactly that far from my expectation of how the season would go.
We just have to win one game......

I've been looking at the possible outcomes this weekend as the 2nd, 3rd & 4th places are settled, bearing in mind that Peterhead host Dumbarton and Spartans head to Methil. Apologies in advance if I've goofed here...
Peterhead win + Spartans win = P/S/D
Peterhead win + Spartans draw = P/D/S
Peterhead draw + Spartans win* = P/S/D
Peterhead draw + Spartans draw = P/D/S
* Unless Spartans win by about 10 goals
Dumbarton win + Spartans win = D/S/P
Dumbarton win + Spartans draw = D/P/S
And that's before we consider the outcome at Forthbank
thanks.
i'd been trying to figure it out as well.
preference number one would obviously be to beat Annan on Saturday and not have to worry about this.
after that, i really, really don't want Peterhead to finish 4th. I can't make Peterhead on a Tuesday night and i doubt it's much better for our players so i'd like to avoid that if possible. Both Spartans and Dumbarton are viable Tuesday night destinations although the thought of another Tuesday night game in Dumbarton gives me PTSD.

Would say he is very capable of being in league 1, assume we’ve gave him a good deal to come down to us.
i think he's a solid league one player all day.

Delighted to read this, cracking lad and a cracking player. Glad to hear he is getting some recognition
still gutted we didn't get him back. still think he'd improve our defence.

The club should be going all out and promoting this in shops and schools - get some screaming weans along and fill the terrace as a one off. Get all the junior teams along etc. It's a long way down. Of the two fans I usually go with has already been increased to six. Who cares if they only come a few times each year - let's be havin' you. No fear.
I'll be bringing at least one extra on Saturday...hopefully two. We had planned to do the full day out for this one regardless but it's funny how things work out.
He only comes when it's busy....
The league trophy presentation last year, the Aberdeen game and Falkirk games have been the ones he's come too.
Been thinking...comfortable survival would have been great obviously. If you had been given the choice before the season thwt if you won the last game at home you'd definitely stay up,I'd probably have taken that.

Already had plans to get the train through and make a day of it. Now I'm thinking of being in Stirling for opening time.
Biggest game for us in a year.
Good turnout from us today amd really hope we have a full home stand next week

And it all comes down to a final day showdown.
That late goal really shifted things.
I hate playing Annan.
Think I only remember one decent result against them.
Well at least we still have an opportunity.
I do have to admit to looking at potential play off trips. The thought of another Tuesday night in Dumbarton gives me PTSD.

The one off the bar was a cracking strike and had me worried.
Journey home slightly better at least as well.

Well it wasn't pretty in terms of the football or the view but job done.
Shame Falkirk couldn't keep up their end of the bargain but sets it all up for next week.
Never coming back here. Dreadful.
Fighting traffic to get in late and then realising you got a better view of the pitch from the street than inside

I have to confess I had no intention of going until the seriousness of our plight persuaded me..
Everything I'd heard dissuaded me.
Reminds me how lucky we are to have a nice wee stadium suited to our needs. Put covers over the terraces and it would be near perfect. It took me a long time to love Forthbank after Annfield but looking around we are in a far better position than some.

No mate I don't think we'd be anywhere near the playoffs.
I do believe we could have finished 8th though and avoided the bad playoffs.
You beat us 1-0 at Forthbank on the opening day and that's the only game you can compare us on this season.
When the second meeting came at Meadowbank, our whole squad had walked away the previous night and we had to play our proper U20s against you that day.
Anyway doesn't matter anymore, we all know whats happened and it's been a very shite season for us!
Good luck you for your playoff games!
I wouldn't be surprised though, if we meet again next season...
i think you'd have been in the mix with Annan, ourselves and QOS. it certainly might have made for an interesting race.
there wasn't a great deal between the teams in the early meeting but i don't think either side had the look of 'comfortable survivors'.
i'm still holding out hope of avoiding the drop. it's still in our hands to avoid a play off. even if we do end up there, we get yet another chance. if we end up going down, especially considering what's happened to EC this season then there really is nobody to blame but ourselves.
a lot hinges on tomorrow though. i do feel if they can't get it done tomorrow, it becomes harder for them and the supporters to still believe they can. the flip side of that is a good result will see us go into our final day showdown with confidence.

reading back through this is like the way i think about this game. i'm torn between confidence, hope and despair.
on one hand, EC are the only team we have managed to beat consistently........on the other hand, we are woeful right now.
I'm making the journey with trepidation but some hope.

It's like a microcosm of the season really.
Play better than the opposition at home and only come away with the draw
With our away form being abysmal we had to turn those opportunities into 3 points and we falied too many times to do so.
