  1. That's a decent update on the stadium. All things thwt should improve the match day experience. Particularly the tannoy which has been a running joke for years. You could barely hear it when we were only getting a few hundred through the door. Nowadays it's totally inaudible.. Could be interesting tonight. Be good to see some of the youngsters get a chance.
  2. Brilliant. I often almost forget Johnny Brogans time as a player as I saw far more games with him as manager. Had some cracking teams late 80s and early 90s.
  3. I know what you mean. Part of it for me was having a team playing decent football. Another part was the squad seeming to be a likeable tight bunch without any huge egos. I usually make about 10 Home games a season but ended up at nearly all of them plus a few away games. I was more excited about the team than I'd been since the late 80s and early 90s. The feeling only grew as the season went on. Got a season ticket this year and so did my brother. On the historic alloa games.... my first ever game was against alloa at Annfield. 2nd Jan 1988 and we won 2 0 and I was hooked..... Can't remember the scorers and struggle to find that far back online.
  4. What site did you get that from? That's a real blast from the past. Some names i haven't thought about in years there.
  5. I know wiki isn't always the most reliable but I could certianly believe that.
  6. Can't beat a wee local derby game. Think we'll have to be better than we were on Saturday to take something. Doesnt sound promising for any of the injured players returning this week.
  7. Agree with pretty much all that. Thommos hold up play was missed and the spence carrick partnership didn't really work. I thought the free kick was certain to be milne or leitch and my brother said Canmy Clark top left corner.......... There would have been some uproar if #9 had taken thst chance just after the booking. It was a good one. That's how we are gonna stay up. Win the home games against your fellow relegation candidates. Edinburgh looked OK but nothing special.
  8. Bit scrappy at times today and a lot of stuff not quite coming off. Some goal to win it though. Was trying to remember last direct free kick we scored. Great to start with a deserved win.
  9. Let's hope for a similar performance to last week. If we get that then I'm confident of three points. Really looking forward to it.
  10. I definitely wasn't.. I was living down south at the time and now vaguely remember the shame of the Scotland defeat to Belarus
  11. Actually suits me that weekend....im away Saturday and Sunday.. Not sure I've ever been to a Friday night game....
  12. It's a farcical situation. As the anchor tenant on the stadium , we are one of the main stakeholders and active stirling should be working with us to get this sorted. It surely can't be beyond the art of the possible. Its in all parties interests to make the stadium as good as it can be and maximise attendance and income.
  13. 100% on the this is a special squad This is a great side. I could see it half way through La0s season. The spirt it in the squad is fantastic and they continue to be a pleasure to watch
  14. As long as we can stay up I'm happy. I think we might be able to get a comfy mid table place.....thats my optimistic view But it's promising so far..... Certainly enjoyable beating Premier league opposition away from home
  15. Survival is still the main priority but if we finished as the top part time team thst would be fantastic. Not getting carried away but it certainly helps with a positive feeling going into the season
  16. What a great result. Brilliant to see the team picking up where they left off. Can't wait for the league campaign to begin.
  17. Left Winger or attacking midfielder. There's definitely a player in there but he didn't really get enough time to make a serious impact
  18. Totally agree. It felt like everything came to a standstill when the season ended. It's not just the lack of action but the total absence of communication. Pre season training started and we don't know when season tickets go on sale or how much they will be. I really feel like the club have failed to capitalise on the success. Winning a league is about a once a decade event and should be taken advantage of.
  19. I would have hoped that with the better crowds second half of the season, higher than usual merchandise sales and hopefully increased season ticket sales would have made up for any loss of income. It's all very quiet though so we can only speculate.
  20. I kind of agree. There was huge momentum towards the end of the season. We were drawing in new fans and I'd never seen us sell so much merchandise at games. Season tickets should have been out sharpish while that feel good feeling was there. New kit ready to go too. You don't win championships every year and its something that should be capitalised on. It's been unbelievably quiet on all fronts
  21. Not sure we belong here anymore. Do we have to chap on the ceiling?
  22. Happy with that. Has played at a higher level and improves our options. Carrick, Thompson, Hilson and Spence is a decent 4 to pick 1 or 2 from. That's better than last season so delighted with the signing. If we could do similar at the back and in midfield and get one more good option for each I'd be ecstatic. Are there any more Dales free?
  23. It seems like ages since we won the league but I guess it isn't even June yet. Be nice to get an update i agree. Can't complain about the resignings. However, I'd rather be going into next season feeling we were stronger in a few positions than basically having last season's team.
  24. Don't know if we are in the market for a centre half but imo we should be and buchanan would definitely fit the bill for me. That's certainly a blow for you guys.
