I'm assuming it's the looming relegation that's turning this thread into an imitation of SteelmenOnline.
Hopefully it will pass quickly.

The point has been raised before but if we won the cup (LOL) with the likes of Goss and Lamie I honestly don't know how I'd feel.
From a financial point of few, the payout from a decent cup run is never going to offset the cost of relegation.
It's a stance I hate having to take but I'd honestly accept defeat against Raith if it saw a change in manager. The result against Arbroath was simply down to us having better players rather than any sort of tactical genius from Hammell and it would be the same against Raith. We should be beating lower league opposition regardless of the manager but Hammell has shown time and time again he hasnt got a clue how to beat or, in recent games, even set up a team to compete with those in the same division as us.
I was born the year we won the cup so always want to see us win the cup.
Is it not traditional that our cup winning captain should be despised by fans? If so this team might just be perfect candidates. A Lambie header in the final minute at Hampden, just in time to offer him a lifetime contract.

Is that yet another greenie I see b4 me . Knock me down
I get the point you are making. However we have representation of the fans on the Board as part of the Well Society. So yes I do not run the club anymore than Busta or Yassin.
But these representatives are available to the fans and will be well aware of our feelings. Also all the directors are fans. So technically we are actually being run by fans .
Busta and Yassin running the club for a day would be highly entertaining. I'm all for it.

On a side note, Conor Shields live on BBC Scotland playing through the middle for QP the now. Won't spoil it for anyone not watching....but...spoiler...he's still very Shieldsy lads.
Imagine a team starting Connor Shields and Dom Thomas being promoted as we head downwards. That would be the ultimate depression.

Just do that ffs and score some fucking goals.
Sounds like a Brian Kerr masterclass team talk.

Multiple times last night where Motherwell players just fell to the ground or simply dived hoping to con the ref. Was pretty embarrassing, especially as it was throughout the team not just one player.
I've said it before but I can't name a single time or game where Hammell and Kerr have made a tactical move that has affected the game, and I don't even mean a result, just the general flow of a game.

Anyone been able to get tickets for the Raith game yet?
Yes, on the Raith website under away section. Can pick your seat. That will be fun for a bumper away crowd

Have we ever been good at firing a manager?
Alexander - Walked/mutual consent but should have been gone a lot sooner.Robinson - Walked when he ran out of steam, board seemed happy to keep him, in-fact did we not encourage him to stay at one point a few weeks earlier?
McGhee - Fan protest and 5-1 at home to Dundee gave the board no choice? (Won 2 of last 13 games btw Hammell currently has won 2 in his last 16)
I feel that 'our wee nice' club is too nice. Since we became fan owned I can't see any of the managers who have been sacked when they potentially should have. Too harsh? I don't think so, and I expect the routine to continue under Hammell. Won't be a fan protest due to apathy now, but I don't think the board have it in them to sack him.1 -

Will Tierney find a place on the park with all these incomers?
I don't think Tierney will make it at this level. Also his shooting accuracy is not going to help our GF count.

Motherwell thread deep in discussions about whether we've enough to avoid relegation and St Mirren thread in discussions about whether Tony Watt might help them in a push for a European slot.

Well...this is interesting.
Would be the Motherwell way to have our hand forced and *need* to buy a CB because someone bought one of our underperforms, and save our season.

I've got a feeling Well fans will prefer Higdon, where as StMirren fans will prefer Sutton (he won 2 diddy league titles with us tbf).
Better player - Higdon
More liked - Sutton
Would probably taken either of them in their current state into our starting 11.

Having folk pile on a player whose confidence is clearly rock bottom and having to play him every week regardless is an entirely shite situation for all concerned tbh.

Effectively a vote of confidence in Hammell?
Think this decision was made a good while back. Just the Motherwell way to wait for an optimal time to announce it.

Can whoever loses this game just stop playing until August?
Cannot see us getting out of this mess unless we somehow pull 3 points out of this one. Will likely head along but I cant bring myself to buy a ticket. Totally scunnered with this team. Could replace the entire squad and can't say there is any who I would miss massively. Sooner this season ends, Don Cowie takes over, we can pretend its 2018 again and go win the Championship under an ex-player, the better.
Says a lot about both teams seasons that it took me until the last sentence to work out whether a Motherwell fan or a Ross County fan wrote this.

My latest worry is that folk think Tierney is going to make a difference. He's shown some promise but usually when coming on. Can't remember a game he's started and made an impact.
That could be said for almost the entire squad tbh.
But I don't think starting Tierney or McKinstrey is going to change the outcome of anything that we do currently.

Is that not Kettlewell's job?
He's the u18s head coach. Not overall head of youth. Clarkson was u18s with Brian Kerr so I'd be surprised if Clarkson isn't the next head of youth.

Thought Spittal was as good as he's been for us today.
Shields... I dunno. He'd be fine in a decent motherwell team, but we're not. A grafter, with his confidence shot at the moment as well. He lashes at things every time, whether a cross or a shot, either through a lack of patience or confidence or ability, I dunno.
Efford isn't a huge improvement but his ability on the ball is just a wee step above, and can take someone on. Not perfect, but just that hint of what we were trying today is frustrating.
Actually thought we were better today, similar to Killie that we're almost there, but also just short fuckin everywhere.
Efford being described as a (wee) step above some in our current starting 11 pretty much sums up the current season pretty well doesn't it.

This fan is definitely the same type who moans about VAR taking away the celebration of a goal etc isn't he.

Rickie Lambie for the 3rd and 4th goals. Deary me.
If your mate defended like that at 5s you'd be slaughtering him for it.

Bit disappointed in the crowd despite the record, Wales got 5,000 more to the Bosnia game.
I thought the crowd size was decent enough. Record crowd and had it been a sunny evening you could have added a lot more but that weather definitely would have made a lot of folks mind up for them I think. I'd imagine and even bigger crowd come Tuesday night!

that's the sort of finishing we require.
If only Tierney could hit a shot like that in a game rather than a finesse shot into the keepers arms every time Jamie Murphy 2007 style.

Stevie Hammell should go for Cheif Exec. He might not have the experience but he'll interview well and have a good plan for progression.
Wish Alan all the best. Just a fan that's made it into a career. Great story. Hope he does end up at the SFA one day.
