  1. Considering reduced prices, and fans able to get friends/family along as well as the need for a section for away fans, neutral interest, and the area behind the dug out being used for subs, what do we think are the chances of a second stand being opened for this game?
  2. Not sure if there's anything in it but I've noticed that the club channels have been describing tomorrow's fixture as taking place at the Excelsior Stadium, rather than the Penny Cars Stadium. From what I can see it's the first this has been done since 2018. Anyone know if the sponsorship deal is over?
  3. A week of us saying on here that Smith is our best forward purely based on his ability and work rate, even if he’s not the most clinical and now he’s scored a brace. Delighted for him. Get another before full time Smithy.
  4. Worth mentioning that on his first game back from a long injury, Gabby McGill looked our best goal threat. Perhaps a bit obvious since he scored our only goal but he had another effort go just wide of the post as well. Would quite like to see him and Smith start up top together as I think Smith is probably our best forward in terms of actual ability and McGill looks like the closest thing to a natural goalscorer we have.
  5. I thought Afolabi had a decent first half and definitely offers something different, although it was a bit frustrating he never scored because he had at least one very good chance. I don’t think the midfield’s worked very well since McInroy left, or at least not as well as it had been. I don’t think Murray knows what to do with McCabe and Agnew either, as both seem to be at their best in the same deeper midfield role. A change of shape that lets them play side by side might be our best bet, but that would mean potentially playing Easton or Frizzell in a wide role as it would mean abandoning the diamond formation in favour of a 442 or 4231.
  6. Poor performance from us and if I’m being completely honest I wasn’t convinced by either of our penalty shouts, though that might change when I see them back. That doesn’t vindicate the ref though, who I thought had a shocker. It’s frustrating to watch a team stop play with excessive fouling and waste time but I don’t blame Clyde for that whatsoever, the ref let it happen unpunished most of the time and teams have to grind out results however they can. I think Clyde even had one instance to be frustrated with the ref, after he got in the way of our attack we scored from the drop ball restart, which obviously happened because of the ref’s inability to get out the way. Really disappointing to drop points when Cove also drew, but fair play to Clyde because that game was far less one-sided in our favour than the 2-1 and 2-2 earlier or the two hidings we dished out against them last season. I know I focused on the time-wasting and persistent fouling to frustrate us, but there was a spell in the first half when they were absolutely on top and they looked a threat on the break as well. Possibly a better team without Goodwillie?
  7. McCabe preferred to Kerr at centre half? Not heard anything about an injury so I think this is pure confidence from Murray that we’ll dominate possession and the game.
  8. Hard to tell without Stuart Millar on the facebook group asking for opinions for the third kit before just disregarding all input and releasing a Livi kit instead
  9. 98 according to the club website. I’d have thought more if I’m honest but I suppose two shortened seasons haven’t helped in that regard.
  10. Comfortable win against a team we’ve struggled against in the last few seasons and Cove dropping points at home against a team with ten men. Happy days.
  11. I'm chuffed with that signing. I'm sure Celtic had high hopes for the boy when they signed him so you'd expect him to do well in League One based on that alone.
  12. Striker should definitely be the priority right now but to be fair we lost two midfielders in January, one a regular starter (McInroy) and one benchwarmer (Caves) so getting one more in seems fair enough. We've got five boys competing for four spots in the midfield with Ritchie and McDonald not getting much game time so it's not like we've got loads of options in that area. Hopefully this lad comes in and challenges the others but him being so young and only really played in the Lowland League it is probably most likely that he's on a par with the likes of Ritchie etc. Would be good to hear what Killie fans think of him or how he got on with BSC.
  13. I honestly don't know how any club could be stupid enough to sign him right after what happened at Raith. I'd have been opposed to signing him for obvious reasons anyway, but it'd be so much stupider now.
  14. I don't even want to think about the possibility of that. It wouldn't be would it? The people behind the scenes at the club can't be that stupid surely?
  15. Remember it well even if I was about 7 or 8 years old at the time. Wasn’t it a record as well?
  16. SPFL twitter account posting about hat-tricks today as part of their throwback thursday and it’s got me thinking: who was the last player to actually score a hat-trick for us? The most recent I can think of was Leighton McIntosh and that’s going back quite a bit. And I’m not counting Crighton’s “hat-trick” against Albion Rovers of a brace and an own goal.
  17. Had a feeling for the last month or so that Leigh Griffiths would end up in our league this season. Will be interesting to see how he gets on since he obviously has ability but his attitude and fitness are very questionable. We’ve been looking for teams to take points off Cove and even though there’s no guarantees Griffiths will be any good for Falkirk, he can hit a free kick, and one or two of them against the right team could do us wonders. Should also make us beating Falkirk in our final game against them even sweeter knowing they’ve got that clown up top.
  18. Currie MacDonald Kerr Fordyce Paterson Frizzell McCabe Agnew Easton Allan Smith Might not be set up exactly that way but that's as close as we've been to players in their preferred positions in weeks. And we've still got previous regular starters Watson, McGill, and Gallagher on the bench which is relatively decent depth. Without meaning any disrespect to Watson (who I've really liked at right back) I think that's probably our strongest and most positive back four. Surely our two best centre backs and natural attacking full backs on either side of them (notably playing on their stronger sides).
  19. Sandy Stewart was manager for about the same length of time too I think? Think by the end of this season Murray will certainly have overtaken them but not sure if he has yet.
  20. Delighted for both Murray and Easton receiving their awards. Good for the players and staff to get recognition for what’s been a fantastic run, last league loss was on the 20th of November. We’ve had good runs before, but the way we’ve been playing has really added to this one. I think this is the first time Murray’s been universally revered by the fans which is great for him and great for us.
  21. Without meaning any disrespect to the guys listed I’m quite surprised by the options the club’s put forward for January’s player of the month. I’ve went for Allan who by all accounts had a great month and I’m sure he’ll win it, but my first choice would’ve been Scott McGill followed by Easton.
  22. Stuart Taylor’s said it’s unlikely that Hamilton will bring any more players in, so McInroy probably won’t be going there. It’s now getting to a point where if other clubs were in for him I don’t see why they wouldn’t have signed him yet. At one point the saga dragging on meant to me we wouldn't get him back, but at this stage it seems to me it’s dragging on because he doesn’t have other options worth taking. Regardless, we need two or three more bodies in so this could be a desperate night. We’re still allowed to get players in on loan until the end of next month but it would be better to get business done sooner rather than later.
