  1. Wasn't at last night's game but Kerr seems like he is probably above reserve level. Looked decent in the first team except one howler against Forfar. Even so it'll be difficult for him to push his way back into the first team with McKay and MacDonald coming in and looking good. Really big squad this season and a fairly strong looking bench.
  2. Josh Kerr's scored a brace for the reserves tonight. The goalscorer we've all been crying out for?
  3. Someone might have to drug test Sean Crighton after that performance. Outstanding.
  4. Wasn't able to go to the game today. Anyone who did make it able to comment on McKay or Roberts? Interested to see how they looked
  5. I wonder if the Murray out brigade have any ideas as to who they'd like to see replace him. Cannot think of a single person available whose name would excite me at all.
  6. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003–04_Airdrie_United_F.C._season Look at the early results in the league that season. We won the league that year. Not saying we should be mindlessly optimistic and that opener was definitely a reality check but the booing and doom and gloom comments are completely stupid imo. There's a long season ahead of us and no reason why it can't be a good one.
  7. Absolute dross watching that today but I don't agree with those that are throwing the towel in after one game. It's a long season, it should be a tight league, and you'd expect Forfar to be somewhere near the top. Not convinced by the 433 though, don't think we need 3 centre mids and I think we'd benefit from a formation that facilitates one or two of our more creative midfielders/wingers (namely O'Reilly, Thomson and Hawkshaw)
  8. Can understand the doubts about Millar and Wedderburn in midfield together being too defensive but I think Millar actually provides a lot of the energy that Wedderburn is lacking despite being a quality player. With that said I like the look of Cowan as well, especially considering how young he is, and would like to see more of Roberts so I'm fairly easy going. In terms of defence I like the look of Kerr and Fordyce so far and look forward to seeing McKay. Crighton's distribution is poor but he marked the Accies number 99 out of the game until he got chucked up front at the end. Think it looks like we have quality backups and good competition for places in most positions this season.
  9. Bottled it is maybe too strong a phrase but the second half performance was poorer than first half. Decisions against us were atrocious but still a bit disappointed to lose considering we were 2 up at half time. Still a good performance against top flight opposition (woeful team but top flight nonetheless)
  10. Cannot deny that we bottled it today but a very good showing against a premier league outfit and I'm hopeful for this season. I've said for a while that it should be us and Falkirk competing and it still seems that way. The bookies have Raith Rovers ahead of us but they've had a dismal league cup (pumped 3-0 off Cove today, fair play to Declan Glass getting the third). If anything I'd be more worried about East Fife and Forfar than Raith Rovers
  11. Think Wedderburn is a good player but clearly struggles in later stages. Should be either be subbed off when he starts to struggle or Millar should be dropped deeper to make up for his lack of energy
  12. Hope Murray isn't afraid to drop Crighton because he's captain. Was our only decent centre half last season but he's had a woeful time in this league cup group. Own goal against Thistle unlucky, but needlessly gives the ball away too often and was a bit suspect for Goodwillie's second on Sunday. Kerr has had shaky moments as well but so far him and Fordyce have looked better imo
  13. That last post makes it look like I fancy Falkirk to win the league. Let the record show I have £20 on us to win the league at 12/1 and I'm already asking myself what I should spend the money on.
  14. I can see why Falkirk are strong favourites. They're a big team that's just came from the league above and they've made ambitious signings, but I fancy us over Raith Rovers. The fact that they've signed Joao and Kieran MacDonald (two players we've lost and improved on by the looks of things) has me feeling fairy confident we've got a better side than them this year. Falkirk are favourites for a reason but I think we're the team that can make it tough for them and challenge them all the way.
  15. I thought there were positives to take from Thomson's performance against Thistle. He looked dangerous when running at defenders in the first half, but I'll admit his end product was a bit sloppy. The team's full of new players and they'll still be getting used to playing together, once Thomson's had a run of games playing with the other lads I think he can be a good player for us this season, keeping in mind we'll be playing teams weaker than Thistle every week.
  16. Hopefully a full back. I think Kyle MacDonald is our only natural right back and is young and inexperienced, and now that we've sold Edwards we only have Eckersley and the young lad we signed from East Kilbride at left back. Been impressed with Eckersley and not seen MacDonald yet so I can't make a comment, but it does seem like we're lacking alternatives in both full back/wing back roles.
