  1. Without going overboard I don't think I could say I was unhappy with anyone's performance today. Particularly happy with the lads who've had to wait for their chances (namely Kerr and Wedderburn) coming in and having solid games. I also thought McKay was excellent despite being critical of him in the past. A good team performance and my only criticism would be that we're still trying the hopeless long throw tactic despite it not working in about three months.
  2. As far as I'm aware yes but would be good to see him return to the bench at least since he's been massive for us this season
  3. Expect it will be Gallacher MacDonald Crighton Fordyce McCann Smith Millar Wedderburn Murray Gallagher Ryan Thinking (and hoping) we end our goal drought here. Think we'll win but wouldn't be surprised if Clyde got a goal considering who they have up front. 2-1 Diamonds for me
  4. I think we'll bounce back with a win. I don't think it'll be a good game of football or a convincing performance.
  5. I'm not sure. You'd probably bring Kerr back into the defence and stick with Millar and McKay in midfield but I wouldn't be against bringing Roberts, Murray or Wedderburn into midfield or even Eckersley into a back 3. Hadn't really thought of specifics it was just an idea based on trying to fit in Gal, Ryan and Carrick while maintaining a shape we'd already tried
  6. Would be open to us trying 352 again with Gal and Ryan up top and Carrick in the number 10 role and MacDonald and McCann providing width. It was chronic earlier in the season but we had an ok run with it and it can't be worse to watch than the recent long ball rubbish.
  7. Don't see us challenging for the title anymore but it's not worth losing the head over. Disappointing but third behind Raith Rovers and Falkirk is reasonable for us this season. I didn't make the game today but what's been worrying is poor recent form and performances and it sounds like the performance was again poor. If we continue as things are going then we might blow top four and that would be a serious worry. Don't get me wrong, third would be disappointing and not a success by any stretch but it's not a disaster. Fifth would be a disaster.
  8. I think that's very harsh. With the exception of Thomson whose season has been hampered by an injury and Pyott who is clearly a young player for the future all of the players who have signed extended contracts have been regular first team players who have performed well.
  9. There's reports that we're signing Innes Murray on loan, any opinions on him or ideas of what type of midfielder he is?
  10. Great news about Carrick. I'd argue that he's a strong contender for our POTY so far so to have him signed up for next season is excellent news.
  11. I thought MacDonald was fine at Airdrie but definitely feels like McCann is an upgrade despite only being 19. Seems MacDonald is having an excellent season for Rovers though so fair play to him
  12. McCabe is Callum Fordyce's cousin I'm sure. Not sure what to make of that right enough.
  13. All of our midfielders are extremely limited. Hawkshaw extremely lightweight and both him and Roberts (who may be unfit) are more no. 10s than centre mids. Millar is a good ball winner but can't do much on the ball. Wedderburn can pick out a pass and is quite classy at times but is far too slow. Kerr and McKay are defenders. What two or three can you even pick out of them to find a decent working midfield, keeping in mind that if you pick three you're dropping one of the forwards?
  14. Annoyed that Ryan was played in the no. 10 and on the left. Feel like if we're playing both him and Gal it should be as two actual strikers. Carrick the best player on the park today so not sure why he was taken off
  15. Quite a few changes in that lineup, the most surprising of which is in goals. It might be true that the team needed a shake up given we've gone a bit stale lately. Assume it's a 442 with McKay at right back and Kerr in midfield. Don't like to see MacDonald dropped but could work in my opinion. I imagine the main reason for McKay over MacDonald is purely for the long throws
  16. I'm not convinced that was the issue, I think us playing poorly just happened to coincide with them playing together. At that time we were also playing Roy and Gallagher out wide with Smith as lone striker, Fordyce at right back. James Cowan was getting a game. If you play those together but still have Smith and Carrick out wide and the two attacking full backs as well as two goalscorers in Ryan and Gallagher I don't see any issue
  17. I'd consider freshening up the team for next week's game. Maybe something like Hutton MacDonald Crighton Fordyce McCann Smith Millar Wedderburn Carrick Gallagher Ryan Would like to see Gallagher and Ryan play together as two strikers and I'm now convinced that Smith should be viewed purely as winger. Wouldn't be against Kerr coming into the team either and I'd be ok with McKay starting although I think we have better options. If we're playing one central striker with a 10 behind him I'd like to see Hawkshaw get a run out but like I said, I'd like to see Gallagher and Ryan paired up
  18. Completely one sided second half after what I thought was a tight first half. Thought Callum Smith was excellent and by far the best Airdrie player.
  19. We kept it to under 4 against Celtic while playing a back five which only had Crighton as a natural centre half. Hearts should win obviously but I'm hoping it's a lot closer than that
  20. Not that it's a big deal but I'm surprised Ryan isn't playing with the reserves tonight given that he's cup tied at the weekend. Surely would've been a good chance for him to play some football in preparation for the rest of the season?
  21. I had thought about Declan Glass on loan since his loan with Cove ended but he played 90 minutes for Dundee Utd last time out so they might be wanting to give him a run in their first team
  22. My prediction is a cagey 0-0 until about the 70th minute when substitute Andy Ryan fires the diamonds in front and we hold on for a 1-0 win
  23. Also I don't think it's been mentioned here but according to the Mark Pirie article Pyott trained with Cove tonight with the possibility of a loan move. Would be a good move for him imo if he can get game time for a side that are flying
