  1. Our bogey team Hill of Beath continue to have us in their back pocket. After hitting the post in the first minute and coming close a couple of times afterwards, the home team then punished us twice in the first half. Firstly for not clearing our lines after the ball rebounded off the bar, and the second a good finish after turning inside the defender . Two chances, two goals. Both sides had chances after that. The second half was mostly Penicuiks but possession, passing and territory doesn’t equal goals and despite several opportunities their goalie wasn’t tested enough. i am only thankful that we don’t have to play them again in the league, although a cup match in 2 weeks will give us another chance to end their run over us. Looking at other results it shows once again that many sides are capable of beating any team on their day so it’s all to play for despite the odd setback.
  2. This is why we’re in this...We’re going to need more pies .
  3. To be fair to Cumbernauld, their program said they were missing 3 players, and they scored the goal of the game, a real screamer from 20+ yards. I don’t think any of us saw that score line coming though. A good day out and were made very welcome throughout.
  4. 2-0 Penicuik. I’m very surprised by the lack of anything so far from Cumberland. I expected much more. Now 3-0....could’ve been 5.
  5. Agreed, there shouldn’t be a problem. But well done to Nithsdale in beating Peebles. Penicuik played them last year and put 11 past them. I think this says more about Peebles current situation than it does Nithsdales rise to supremacy.
  6. I only wanted to see my teams name on the telly and the beeb cocked it up . Would have liked a highland league team and Cumbernauld will be hard. We drew with Spartans over 90 minutes last year so it can be done.
  7. Not having a social club of our own it’s always a pleasure visiting clubs who do. I like Dundonald as a venue, a nice park and nice to see their new floodlights, and that they still have the sofa for those needing a more comfy viewing position. Pleased to see us back to our best for most of the game. 3-0 with 15 to go is comfortable. 3-2 with 10 to go is not. So credit to Dundonald for that. Several curious decisions from the ref throughout the game resulted in a few tetchy moments and I felt some of the Dundonald players got off lightly with their abuse directed at her, especially given we had a red card last week for similar or less. A stronger stance would have nipped this in the bud earlier. So 3 points is always great and we look forward to a huge derby game in the Scottish Cup next week....and another social club
  8. Disappointing result today as HOB continue to be our bogey team. Not that many chances but they took theirs and we didn’t and the second goal was well taken. Felt they parked the bus in the second half, but why not when you are 2 up. If we’d scored a bit earlier it might have swung the momentum in our favour but not to be.
  9. I saw Peebles play Penicuik 4 times last year and whilst they were all convincing wins, Peebles competed and made us work hard. I then saw them play Haddington at the start of this year and they were a shadow of last years team. Less fit in particular. Not sure what’s happened.
  10. So before the sun even sets on today’s events, they’ve re-jigged the fixtures using common sense. A credit to the league for which others should take note ( you know who you are).
  11. Penicuik have no opposition next week either as both Whitehall and LTHV need to retry today’s cup games...
  12. For the neutral a highly entertaining game at Haddington last night. Both teams keen on attacking football and this initially proved costly to the home team who left one to many players upfield a couple of times and paid the price in the first half. Haddington’s first in reply was a long range effort which seemed to be straight at the keeper who never laid a hand on it. This blunder set the expectation that peppering the keeper was the way forward and early signs seemed correct.. The second half saw an early equaliser but thereafter both teams had excellent chances with LTHV hitting all parts of the wood work and being denied by Disco in the home goal. The seemingly flappy LTHV goalie then pulled off several top draw saves but with all the pressure seemingly in favour of the home team LTHV scored but couldn’t hang on as the home captain powered a header home to secure the draw. I’m honestly not sure who will feel more relieved or aggrieved at this result but a most enjoyable evening at, as always a very pleasant environment. Top notch sausage rolls too according to my young companion.
