  1. This seems to be happening quite a lot now with the odd individual not receiving SSC communications and learning about them on this and other forums. I failed to get the notification regarding the change of venue for the Cyprus game last year yet do receive regular messages from them. When I queried this I was assured it had been sent so lost in cyberspace somewhere I guess.
  2. This is true but equally it might have ended 0-6 as the Dutch really went for it and almost added another two in stoppage which everyone seems to have overlooked. They clearly sensed our vulnerability at that stage. Not sure anyone would be looking for positives had it finished six.
  3. Remember I was in London at a match and unexpectedly found the 96 top on sale in a sports shop when it was not available back home for a few days - and cheaper too. Bought it and was home that night. Thought about going down the pub on the Sunday afternoon to `show it off` then realised that would be the actions of the type of person I - let's say - would prefer not to be. Chose to wear a non football shirt for my afternoon pint. All these years later I`m still a little proud I didn't go for the attention.
  4. Yes I would phone the SFA and explain the situation telling them you don't deserve or want the point due to a change in circumstances, but don't want to waste the ticket. They might send you a PDF you can forward to your pals son. Must be worth a try!
  5. If they've that many left to offload I would hold fire. Likely be £20 next week.
  6. Stayed in Utrecht when we played there back in 94 - also a Friday night game. Had four nights there and it had everything you needed. 90% of the Scots fans spent their time in Amsterdam and came down for the game but I had no regrets. Mind you it was last century! Wouldn't have minded if the forthcoming match was scheduled for there - or elsewhere outside of the Dam.
  7. Well you could actually make a case for saying that those who attend every match are arguably better off than those who pick and choose. Therefore the high pointers would be generally in a better position to afford the more expensive tickets.
  8. I agree with much of this - and I'm someone on twenty odd points. There are a lot of egos in the tartan army who can tell you EXACTLY how many away matches they have attended like it's going to impress anyone. I will add that Hamish however is a decent lad and I don't recall him ever being a boaster. Too many people who run these fan groups have overinflated opinions of their importance. At the end of the day it's just a bunch of football supporters.
  9. 20,699 at Hampden for the San Marino game on a cold Sunday night in October 2019. How many would have been there if it had been on BBC Scotland live? Not sure it's as great an idea as it seems - I was at the game but in a similar future situation I might very well think twice about going and consider watching at home. Sure, crowds have picked up since lockdown due to results but that could easily change again.
  10. That was the funny thing about how that campaign started. We won the opener in Stockholm, drew 0-0 with Portugal at Hampden then won in Tel Aviv and drew with Northern Ireland in Glasgow. So two narrow 1-0 away wins and two drawn at home, At the time it seemed we weren't capitalising on the home fixtures.
  11. Yes mate two qualified automatically. We went through ta 0-0 in Belfast in October '81 and the N Ireland fans thought they were out because they didn't beat us (Alan Rough had a fine game). But the Portugal V Sweden game kicked off later and it went in their favour,
  12. We only lost one match in that qualifying group, the last match in Lisbon. We had qualified in the previous game with a point in Belfast.
  13. It was open to the general public hence the queues. Quite right too - I've always said you should not have to belong to a club to attend a home game. Managed to get one for a friend although I did log into my SSC account though guess this didn't give me any priority as had to wait and sweat best part of half an hour. Reckon he is due me a pint!
  14. Cue Michael Stewart having a go at Avril's tactics on a weekly basis again!
  15. The Spanish authorities have declared the Scotland match to be `high risk` so people might want to think twice about turning up for the home sections in their full regalia.
  16. Right in the middle of the local hooligans then
  17. Sorry but any extra tickets should have gone on general sale - and I say that as an SSC member. It is a sad day when you have to be a member of a club to purchase a ticket for a home game. Six tickets for one member is excessive to say the least.
  18. Not sure what age you are mate. But aren't you a little bit old for comics?
  19. Next month is just that for a lot of people - the 50th anniversary of the Czechoslovakia game which sent us to the '74 World Cup. So if this thread is still active in October that match doesn't fit the timescale
  20. Personally not at the moment but judging by the number of folks asking if I can get them a ticket for the England game - yes!
  21. Fair play to the sfa over this I should be fine for a ticket now. Don't like to grumble but the only gripe I have was the header on the email about tickets for the womens matches - which we have already been advised of. Surely the good news about the Larnaca tickets is of more interest to members? But like I say just a minor thing and full plaudits to the ssc staff for fighting our corner and securing this allocation!
  22. There is no question that tickets for some home games are bought, point acquired and ticket passed on wise in the knowledge there are no checks. People are always calling for 100% pick up overseas but two home games = one away in terms of points and that loophole is easily exploited.
  23. Will also mention on arrival in Oslo main airport yesterday more than one hour at passport control. Maybe I had bad timing but met someone today had same experience and that was with a couple of fans. Sober prepared to queue
