  1. Well let’s hope the Hearts result puts that to bed at least for now, big risk taking on a team that are not performing the fans would be quick to jump on the new managers back. With regards the signing of Fyvie that seemed to be the general news back in March before Hartley had taken the reigns of course Willo Flood was also supposed to be signing ( according to they, whoever ‘they’ may be ).
  2. Great day for a game , nice little ground, and a decent atmosphere thought that Elgin lacked a cutting edge up front which was surprising as Sutherland’s been banging them in.
  3. That would be a crazy move if Hearts did that Hartley inherited a decent team and with all due respect is managing in the second division.Personally I’d say that Hearts need someone else with a pedigree which the club needs just now and not just a former player.
  4. Thoughts on the above and likelihood we’ll keep Glass, Fyvie or Matty beyond Jan? Fyvie would like to play for a full time club again ,Premiership ? What I’m hearing no, certainly Championship but then again lives in Aberdeen class player certainly for our league and the tips /experience he can pass onto the younger players can only be good. Glass etc? Are they ready for two divisions higher or would you as manager from parent club be happy that they were playing competitive football week in week out with a view to taking them home when the time comes and not before they’re ready. Certainly suggests that rather than having ‘colt teams’ in the SPFL the bigger clubs loan out these young guys to get the experience they need to make a real go of it later on without too much expectation on their heads. Just my thoughts ...
  5. Well that’s good talking about supporters was talking to some who hoped that if Banks of Dee got into the highland league they could start supporting them because they miss the HL! Guess you can’t keep everyone happy
  6. Hard to tell there was what 460 at the game I’d imagine about 100+ but might be wrong supporters bus never went to Brechin.
  7. Seriously ! ! There’s the ‘only one team in Aberdeen’ bunch and the ‘ little ****’ lot but there is also many who welcome it.
  8. A lot of Aberdeen fans not happy or just plain unwilling to accept that the city should have another senior team but every city should have more than one team. It can only be good although some might not agree.
  9. Thought the prices were steep at £16 for an adult and £9 for a 12 year old but I guess they’re 1st division prices?Brechin scored with two nicely taken goals and tried to play football. Cove thoroughly deserved the win though , and the Brechin keeper was MOTM.
  10. no tantrums but to be fair I think it was the 3rd at Cow that caused the tantrums. Cove weren’t ready last year for SPFL2 think they are now though.
  11. I take you mean in Wales, Cove we’re okay got a bit of a kicking but were told to bring the shin pads. Martin Scott should probably have been on from the start. Let in a sloppy free kick keeper must have been thinking a cross was on the cards, instead the guy drilled it in beside his near post. Longest bus journey in the world 7 hours each way. Least they can concentrate on league business now instead of expensive distraction. That was three away games Perth, Brora and Wales.
  12. All the best onecowden I’m an Abbey View lad for my sins but had that blue & white stripped shirt when I was a kid good luck to your team in the future!
  13. As a Cowden fan how long would you consider as being too long? Genuine question too. In answer to your question I’d say that every team looks to have some sort of improvement on the year before ( which to be fair Cowden have done in the last couple of years) and that might be a cup run, league position.
  14. Originally Aberdeen FC had planned to have their new stadium on the other side of the Loch which you might have noticed coming into Cove . Coves ground was part of the overall plans however as usual the city planners threw out the application for various reasons ( transport links & the area being part of the green belt). AFC then moved their ideas to Westhill where construction is now taking place and ironically the proposed site was instead sold to a house builder who’s planning 1500 homes there instead! ( so much for the green belt argument). Cove went ahead with their plans to get a new stadium which meets SPFL criteria it’s currently still ‘work in progress’ with future plans being to improve the current facilities. Yeah it’s not ideal let’s face it we all prefer grass I thought Stirling Albion’s surface looked fantastic , sound/tannoy system inadequate, surface water problem in winter in the standing areas but these along with new stands to replace the bus shelters are all in the pipeline (somewhere).
  15. The advertising is part and parcel with finance if playing in a ground without a flat playing surface is your thing then perhaps that’s one of the reasons why Cowden have lingered so long in the lower parts of the 2nd division. There shouldn’t be a problem welcoming progressive clubs into the Scottish league it can only enhance our game on all fronts.
  16. First and foremost we the fans (of cove) that is are just looking for survival. Secondly we’ve never lost a league match at this ground we totally respect all the big clubs that come visiting including your good club.None of the Cove support think the league is in the bag we’re just doing what we do we’re the under dogs but believe we have something to offer this league. Next week Wales lets hope we can do the division proud.
  17. Perhaps but it does make you wonder about some of the decisions the larger clubs make and I mean that for many of the players at a lower level not just Coves. Some of the ‘big clubs’ signings don’t seem to have the work rate or desire that these players show or the shift they put in.Maybe just by signing for a larger club players think they’ve made it and get lazy ??
  18. Masson has such a great engine, another one of the many Aberdeen shouldn’t have let go....and Harry Milne fantastic
  19. Surely it must be a plus for the QP fans and the atmosphere once they move to their new ground as it must be lost in a stadium like Hampden?
  20. Great to play hosts to a club with such a great history as QP today, their fans were a credit to their club and made for a great atmosphere throughout.
  21. Seriously this ground would be contender for coldest in the land! (Even in summer)
  22. New kids on the block, new to the forum. What’s everyone’s views on this season and how Cove will fare?is it a flash in the pan start?Or a force to be reckoned with?Is the pyramid system good or bad for the league or should there be an SPL3 to accommodate the clubs with the ambition to improve but also giving (perhaps) another league to catch any unfortunate established clubs which may fall into the abyss?
