  1. I've used a supermarket self-service before, paid up, pocketed my wallet and walked out. Only realised I'd left my actual purchases when I was on the train about ten minutes later. In the days of chip and pin payment I once collected my purchases and forgot to remove my card... Have only made either mistake once!
  2. First time in decades that BBC Sport have written an article about an Irish/Northern Irish team and it cursed them seemingly
  3. Seem to back in the habit these days of having the draws at utterly random times, bookended by completely random events. The BBC One Show draws were vomit inducing but at least it felt like an occasion, at a regular time too. Now it's back to scanning social media to see if anyone knows it seems.
  4. Gender reveals are, in a well-contested category, the worst thing those mutants from across the Pond have ever imposed upon us. f**k all involved. Why have grace, humility and genuine happiness when you can act a cvnt on Twitter for the same occasion.
  5. 1. Golf 2. Tennis 3. Rugby union 4. American Football 5. Cricket
  6. Was in the one opposite the entrance to the station there back in the spring, not particularly good or bad but did like all the old maps and historical bits and pieces they had about. (EDIT - the Railway Arms according to Maps) Was never the same after they got rid of that huge bridge towards the city centre years ago IMO.
  7. Never clocked Arsenal FC were nicknamed the Gunners because they both mean weaponry until I was in my 20s.
  8. Can't speak as someone who primarily posts in General Nonsense (I'm mainly here to keep up to date on football more than because I have anything helpful to say on it!); but can admins not implement something to stop new accounts posting in certain areas before x posts or y days membership? So many half decent topics get derailed by aliases and gibbering newbies, who, in a forum covering everything from the ins and outs at Motherwell to match reports from some wayside field in the Highlands, graviate straight into social/political chats. At least spend a week yakking away about Montrose before coming on here to say 'this bad, that good'.
  9. Walked past a house the other day whose house number was engraved on a plaque beside the front door with poppies, the silhouette of a soldier and "We shall remember them" written on it. What a land.
  10. Seen a couple of mentions of Paisley, only ever been once really (probably for the best, etc.), but was taken by the Bull Inn just off the High Street. It's a Stonegate job, but does a decent array of beers and what have you, and still retains a lot of its original decor, including the snugs at the back. Certainly a bit of character to it at least.
  11. That's a shiter. Should be maintained as a national historic monument. New owners welcome on the basis that not even so much as the beermats are changed.
  12. Not too much of a chore if tied in with the equally out of the way Bon Accord (and its framed Dundee United shirt IIRC) nearby I find. Then usually a hop on the Subway to the Three Judges and Lismore at Kelvinhall. The latter has printed on the urinals the names of the men complicit in the Highland Clearances, which is always good fun after a few pints.
  13. I feel obliged to go to the Laurieston every time I am in Glasgow. Wonderful old school place.
  14. Couple of quotes in that made me wince... "It was a lovely day to be the centre of attention" "'That's such a Sarah thing to do'" Jesus Christ.
  15. I genuinely don't care what other people do (by and large) but, erm: Bride Sarah Wilkinson saves for 20 years to wed herself - BBC News
  16. Slightly unnerved by this pair. Barry: Bus hub with no buses a £3m waste, says councillor - BBC News
  17. Nottingham tonight for KK's Priest with Burning Witches and the one and only Paul Di'Anno as support. First gig I have been to in a very long time where there seems to be more people here for the support (Di'Anno) than the headline act. I saw KK's Priest in Wolves in their very first iteration back in November 2019 (back when they had the Ulster Bonham on drums) and was a big fan, however their two albums have both been a bit lukewarm for me. Should be a wonderful night regardless, I am not a massive Maiden fan overall but am very fond of their early releases, and Priest in any manner is worth the expense.
  18. Not seen anything but it appears Klopp is bemused/seething with something. Excellent. Hope the c**t accidentally opens an umbrella up his arse
  19. Standing in Colchester isn't he? Was a Lib Dem seat for years post 1997. Will be interesting to see how it fares - surely one of those random southern towns the Lib Dems will be going all guns blazing for in the next GE given their history there. Tremendous if he gets his arse handed to him, even if it means a Lib Dems gain.
  20. It doesn't seem to just be football preoccupied with it these days, it's almost a national passtime in some quarters. I rather suspect it stems from the need to be seen to do something, have some sort of symbol of mournful acknowledgement; perhaps as a result of social media and what have you. An example of sorts that has always stuck with me is Network Rail prohibit the headcode of the train involved in the Stonehaven crash from being used anywhere else in Scotland these days. As far as I know, this had never happened with any other incident - anywhere - prior. Of course, this was before they were fined several millions for their failings in the lead up to the crash.
  21. Keys is an absolute fucking mutant. More shite in that boy than a fucking enema.
  22. The scraping sound when drink glasses rub together.
