  1. Let's be positive and all wear a Trump style baseball cap with MUMA on it. "MAKE US MEDIOCRE AGAIN"
  2. Christ! Am I the only one who cares not a toss about the football strips! Go to a Paris fashion show if that matters so much. Only relevance of the issue is that it further underlines why I dearly hope the alleged investment is NOT left in the hands of the current board.
  3. I think we are generally depressed enough without having to read your persistent negative posts. Sure, we need a clear out starting with the boardroom, but not until they can be replaced by guys who A: know what they are doing and B: have the funding to turn things round or know how to get it. So long as the club keep doing what they are currently doing they will keep getting what they currently get I.e. ridicule and failure. Whingeing will get us nowhere so we, the fans, need to come together and put together a plan of action. I have hardly been to a game over the past few years as this is the palest shadow of the Clyde I knew and loved to follow.... but I would gladly throw in my lot and muck in if there was a fan-driven route out of this mess. At risk of arguing against myself though, I would suggest waiting to see how the squad develops up until the Crownpoint decision. If that fails and the squad is still unfit to challenge then that is time to act with purpose. Looks like the alternative is to disappear with a whimper because right now the game in Scotland wouldn't miss us at all.
  4. Wasn't at the game and can only go on the match stats which seem to suggest we got off lightly despite the late scoring. Don't know if it is safe to mention this as Jim Duffy might look at this forum, but Mark Clougherty who played for both Clyde and Dumbarton back in the 70s is still alive!!
  5. Personally I don't give a toss about the kit. I want to know who we have signed - unless it is a company secret of course!
  6. I posted a long rant about this wall of silence ( which has somehow disappeared into the ether), but meanwhile - perhaps paranoia- I wonder if anyone else shares my fear that something we really, really don't want to hear is being kept from us? .....at least until they HAVE TO tell us!
  7. Craig Brown died this morning! Some won't agree but I thought he was one of the most under-appreciated managers we have ever had.
  8. When I try to type something the cursor and keyboard immediately disappear. I am profoundly technophobe so no doubt the solution will be glaringly simple??
  9. We all know that anything which suits the OF will be pushed, that the only way lower league football will get air time is if it gives the media an excuse for even more coverage of the big two, that (quelle surprise) the OF ladies meet in the Cup Final already and get TV coverage when the 3rd and 4th tier men's sides are lucky to even have their results mentioned - and we are long since used to that slight. And as has already been pointed out, our board are clearly all for this Conference League f***wittedness because it provides an extra layer of buffer against where their incompetence looks to be taking us. But, frankly, right now I would rather have their views on why we have no head coach, no new signings, no statement of intent to chase a return back upstairs as a priority and are having to draw our own conclusions as to what being 'competitive' is a euphemism for! Right now it looks like the purchase of a season ticket will be a pointless exercise (pun fully intended!).
  10. Come on, let's have some Clyde-style positivity here: We only need one Div 2 side to make even worse signings than us ( but only a little worse so we can still be "competitive" and aim for a 1-0 win).
  11. It would save money if he was player coach - regardless of the merits - and that's all the credibility this board needs sadly.
  12. Out of curiosity I wonder how we might be placed legally (i.e. constructive dismissal) if we were to ask Doherty, Rennie and Hynes if they really, really wanted to see out their contracts with us. Even if we could swap them for something of equivalent value like, say, a couple of decent match balls. Just saying...
  13. I just want a solid head coach, a leader on the park, a playing squad devoid of guys who can't even cut it in League 2 and let's see a Clyde we can be proud of again. Meanwhile, won't it be exciting to be getting back to the League 2 P&B forum again for all the big news that helps shape Scottish football
  14. Says it all really when that's the level our best player can aspire to......and that's a swipe at how far our mob have regressed, not Alloa.
  15. I did say GOOD juniors as of course we can't compete with the clubs chasing the top guys. However there are plenty of good players there and part-timers at the bulk of junior sides will almost certainly not earn more than our guys. Nor are most of them playing in front of big crowds and surely the Div 2 champions medal is a better prize than a junior league gong (not to mention better rewards for promotion and cup appearance possibility vs our big guns and recognition accordingly.) Of course we won't get promotion with the current squad but we surely won't have most of them or face the same quality as the season just completed. Unless the club are planning to fold they are not stupid enough to think they can sell season tickets with the same or worse dross than this season. In which case I will believe that they do have a viable strategy until it is clear that they don't. We will know soon enough.
  16. Given that JD was only contracted to the end of the season anyway the board should have been looking at permanent replacement options as soon as we knew 9th place was the best we could hope for. That way we would hopefully already have had the ball rolling on recruitment for next season. A core of GOOD captures from the junior ranks might not bust the meagre budget; they wouldn't be any worse than we have at present and we would maybe have room for a couple of decent Div 1 journeymen too...plus the few guys we can't offload due to contracts. If the above sounds like a wild gamble then consider this: Would the present squad of misfits be able to see off Darvel, Pollok, Auchinleck or indeed failed trialists for the Clyde Women's team? As things stand, it seems we are going to have to settle for the "best bad option."
  17. If a consortium of Clyde fans who have a sound understanding of how to run a business and can transfer those skills to the club came in would it matter if they themselves could not introduce investment - on the basis that the existing board presumably have no money either (and wouldn't know what to do with it if they did)! The assumption of course is that the new board would be proactive in seeking out investors rather than fiddling while Rome burns. I am now beginning to think that not having our own ground (while not great) has become a lame excuse as we haven't owned our home since around 1930 but did well enough until our patch was severely depopulated. Let's not forget all the clubs in the lower divisions who we used to frequently beat comfortably (or weren't even in the league) that have backers and have left us in their wake .... plus the Darvels, Polloks etc who are also backed and are ready and willing to do likewise! We still have our place in the league set up - for now at least - and we are still "de facto" a Glasgow club with a support which would double by just being a good Div 1 outfit and continue to rise to a reasonable size as a competitive Championship side. Even a small percentage of our dormant/lapsed support returning is still hopefully waiting in the wings for a team worthy of the famous white jersey. Everyone on this forum including non-Clyde fans can clearly see there has to be change - and quickly - or we aren't going to be around much longer.
  18. Yeah, and a new league to experience being the club with the lowest budget! We have been on a steady downward spiral since as far back as the late 60s. Just one final big push lads and rock bottom is all ours. (Singing "Jimmy Duffy's Nadir Army")
  19. If Hamilton go down might John Rankin be a free agent? He is already based at NDP (for what little that might be worth) and was happy enough with Clyde I think. Even if he fails to save Accies the expectation with them is higher than it would be with our rabble.
  20. How sad that the official website seems as apathetic as the dwindling support. We are even resorting to whining about what Annan did in a match years ago. Mind you, if we were to win 3-0 tomorrow I would also accuse them of match-fixing!
  21. I would agree totally with your selections. Cuddihy and Cunningham have their moments but that isn't good enough in a small squad....and in any event these moments are only in between their all-too-frequent spells out through injury!
  22. Oh well, let's be optimistic and plan ahead for next campaign. If Albion Rovers get relegated to the 5th tier on Saturday they are sure to release their worst players. So let's get in quick before Dukla Pumpherston snaps them up.
  23. The_bully_wee, it's a fair point maybe about Rennie's apparent indifference at times but a player who is actually there to receive and - more importantly - dispatch the sitters is invaluable to a team that really needs their opponent's goal frame to be a yard wider and a yard higher most of the time!
  24. I must be missing something here. Sure, we aren't very good but surely we should respect anyone we meet but not get worked up about playing another p-t side. Do they have players who would have had us challenging for a play-off place to the 2nd tier; and if so why are they at Annan? So they score goals but must be conceding too, otherwise they would have made a meaningful challenge to win the Div 2 title. We go down there aiming to beat them and treating match as a one-off must win! It's about what we CAN do (rather than what we might NOT do). I don't know where Cunningham is with his fitness but unless it is out of the question I'd like to see him available for at least the closing stages if needed. Lastly, I hope the coaching team are mindful Annan staff would have seen how Friday's 1st half went so tactics/team has to change. End of rant.
