  1. I thought the Dunfermline subs and/or the reaction too them had an impact too - it seemed to take the sting out of the game and then we were relatively comfortable.

Game cried out for us having another striker on the pitch to help keep the ball up there, but Yogi has persisted with 1 up front for 98% of his time with us and in a game like this we really should have been more positive.

The other change sounds like it was forced but a defender for a midfielder isn’t exactly an inspiring sub to go and grab the win in the dying minutes, granted we moved Matty Todd up so we stayed in the same shape anyway.

I also felt like O’Hara was actually growing into the game as it went on. His runs were getting closer to working out and he got that half decent shot off as well. To bring him off when things were starting to click instead of Dow, Chalmers or Polworth seemed baffling to me.

Definitely not going to be pretty on Saturday, but just hope we get through it as painlessly as possible
  2. One of the worst games of “football” I’ve ever witnessed. A shower of absolute charlatans stealing a wage for a living. Only players I’d give pass marks to would be Jakub, Jones, and Ambrose.

The rest? Wow. What a bunch of fucking losers. Can’t win second balls, can’t pick a pass, no desire to get amongst it and drive us forward…

Hughes a fucking nugget as well. Why are we leaving our best player on the bench? Why is Comrie, who has been poor all season, getting a start ahead of Todd (who has been better than Comrie at RB)? Why have we all of a sudden adopted the 3 at the back (which is a fucking pish tactic) in an extremely important game?

That result leaves us utterly fucked now and relying to not only beat Queens but relying on Partick to get something down at Ayr, when they’ll have already downed tools.

An utter fucker of a season. I can’t wait for it to be all over so I don’t have to see some of these frauds in a Pars jersey again. Hughes can join them as well, even if we somehow avoid the play-offs.

They adopted 3 at the back because changing to that system got us the win vs Ayr after a completely horrific performance for the vast majority of the game.

Doesn’t justify that horrific display today by any means, but that’s why we shaped up the way we did.
  3. Thought McInroy dominated the 1st half and was completely anonymous in the 2nd. Whipped in a number of good crosses though, which was frustrating as I can’t remember a single half decent cross from us all game.

Chalmers did absolutely nothing yesterday. Painful to see us be light up top for so long when our extra body in midfield accounted for zip. All worked out in the end though so idgaf

  4. Sorry Dunfermline fans but I see far too many similarities to your team to our 2015-16 side that went down:
    • Start the Season with a shit manager (Grant) and then swap for a bampot (Yogi) in denial
    • Fans having a (rightful) go at the manager after getting humped by the club in the league with the smallest budget
    • Lots of pressure in games without being to convert into goals and wins
    • Not getting the break of the ball or a bit of luck (corners being awarded as goal kicks)
    • A very shite Centre Backing pairing - Coll fucking Donaldson being the common denominator
    • A goalkeeper that's prone to occasional howler
    • Finding new and exciting ways to lose football matches.
    • Having a special "our season starts now" deal to get a big crowd in only to not capitalise on it.
Nothing against the Pars, but can't see yous escaping this.

I have my worries but Coll Donaldson has actually been decent since coming in for us. Dealt with most trouble coming his way and is more “no nonsense” than Efe. I can definitely see us going down but Donaldson is a world away from our biggest issue right now
  5. Cole had a good chance today to prove to Hughes that he deserves a place in the starting line up but, leaving aside his injury (shock!), he'll surely be fairly disappointed with his efforts. Saying that, I'm not sure he was utilised in a position best suited to him.

Thought we completely fell out of the midfield battle (that we were winning, certainly in the 1st half and about 50/50 while he was on in the second) when he came off
  6. You can't just stand around and let the ball bounce off of your arm though and hope to get away with it. If the ball is hitting your hand in that situation, then surely it is in an 'unnatural position', otherwise you'd move your arm/hand so that the ball doesn't hit it.

Not how the rule is applied.
The whole “unnatural position” stuff has cause so much crap in football the last couple years, but the application of the rule in recent times is pretty clear.
If your arm is down and by your side, it’s not a pen.

Think the ref in general has made a total arse of the game so far.
  7. I’ve seen plenty of gutless nothing performances all season, from both the pars and a variety of other clubs this season. Too many times for me to think QotS finishing 10th is anywhere near a done deal.

They will need performances and results far better than that today, that’s for sure. The quality in this league is tragic though, a change in fortune (or management ofc) could be all that is required.

Well happy with the performance and result from our perspective though. A similar story next week would be lovely

  8. Lots of possession and done precisely nothing with it, because we have no players on the pitch capable of doing the basics right or creating anything.

Arbroath have barely even raised a finger and are, for all intents and purposes, home and dry.

Nice strike that second goal though. The only moment of quality in an otherwise horrific game (and stream) of football

  9. To be fair, I was looking at your goals from a Pars perspective, where I’ve watched us make the same defensive mistakes all season and seen everyone all over the place defensively far too many times. Being really sloppy in our own half has been the running theme under Yogi and that’s why I’m pinning the blame on us for the Queens goals. When I watch it back, I might appreciate some of your play better in the lead up to goals, but my memory from the game was certainly that they all involved huge errors in us gifting possession to Queens in our half and/or really poor defensive decision making/positioning.

Cracking finish for the second, absolutely. I’m not trying to take anything away from that. But Dorrans (I think it was him) should never be giving the ball away there. He did the same to see us get knocked out the cup too, just a couple of weeks ago. We were so sloppy with the ball in our own half and that’s been happening for 3 weeks in a row now (and earlier in the season under Grant).

I believe it was Kyle MacDonald that played the horror pass, although it’s usually Dorrans making that sort of mistake so I can see why you’d think that.

Ever since Dorrans’ pass through our defence at Ibrox it’s felt like we’ve gifted an opportunity like that in virtually every game and it’s always soul destroying.
  10. Excellent win, a crucial game and we strolled it from start to finish. A few cheap mistakes here and there which a better team could definitely punish, but Ayr served up some of the worst football I’ve seen this season, barring maybe 1 or 2 of our worst performances.

Delighted for Lewis as well, been a tough road for him and he’s rightfully had his critics but he was excellent today and thoroughly deserved MOTM.

Another 2 important games coming up, more of that please.
