  1. Can’t be too unhappy given the significant improvement from the last few weeks.
2nd half we started the thoughtless punting up the pitch again which was frustrating, but there was some decent passing play and chances in there overall, and disappointed not to collect all 3 points in the end.

The fact we weren’t brutal probably says everything that needs to be said about Hearts too. Hopefully it’s the start of a much better run of results and performances, but the standard of our matches against Ayr has been brutal this season so we’ll see.

  2. I was just being facetious.
Euan Murray has played two league games for us, which is not enough time to make judgement on a player, either positive or negative.

Well he looked reasonably solid in that time. Devine is a complete bombscare, and even though we’ve been ok defensively recently he’s still made poor judgements that haven’t been punished.

Never said my opinion was absolute, just was optimistic about it. No need to get any knickers in a twist
  3. He's much better at left-back. Hopefully Murray and Ashcroft are back asap to let him get back in there.

The defensive setup early days this season looked really promising before Murray’s fall. Now that the structure in the middle is really taking shape, I’m cautiously optimistic that Murray and Ashy’s return might be the start of something good.
  4. He looked good at times but would often be anonymous. Never seemed to kick on, which was disappointing. When he starred at Livi, I assumed he had just needed a fresh start to show what he could do.
He's maybe been poor for you lot but I doubt there are many impressing in a season where you find yourself behind us and 14 points behind United.

Yeah I don’t think it’s easy to compare his time at Livi with Dundee. Livi were brilliantly drilled, and he was a crucial part of a midfield 5 that caused everyone in the division serious problems.

While his performances may be poor now, it doesn’t seem much of a stretch to think it’s maybe a by-product of poor coaching and management.

Cue Shaun Byrne masterclass and hat-trick on Saturday.
  5. Given the form book, the current fan attitude on display, and the reverse fixture earlier in the season, I’d say 3 pts for us should be well up for grabs.

Will settle for a point, but 3 would be so helpful moving forward if playoffs are a legitimate target.

No chance I can make the trip though, I get the impression that the attendance from us may be well under the standard we’ve set for tannadice.

  6. Bizarre game. Great to win so convincingly, absolutely the right response given the disappointment of both Alloa and Stranraer in recent weeks.

2nd half was dull but that’s solely down to the game being over. Frankly, I’ll take that every day of the week.

PT knocked the ball around well at times, but up front and defensively they are almost completely absent. January will be crucial for them no doubt.

I do have to say though that the ref was, as per usual, absolutely dreadful. Even for this level, destroying the game within 4 minutes is poor. I get that we still made the most of that opportunity, but how long is it going to take before we see the improvement that officiating so desperately needs in this country?

  7. Thought 1st half we were by far the better team, and the only one really attempting to play football (although neither team really created any clear chances).

2nd half was much the same, except we created chances and took them. Other than Dobbie’s shot from distance, QOTS never really troubled Scully at all.

All in all, it’s probably the most consistent performance I’ve seen from us this season, especially at EEP.

3 points and smiles all round. Long may it continue

  8. Shooting boots required for us on Saturday.

While on the whole we’ve looked quite decent defensively, our goalies have been inconsistent, and that coupled with Dobbie undoubtedly shooting-on-sight will mean we need to be taking chances when they come.

Tuesday certainly had it’s ups and downs, but if we play like we did 2nd half we’ll have every chance of picking up 3 points.
