Trapdoor to Hell
Parttimesupporter replied to HibeeJibee's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
This is where I am at. Buckie clearly haven't covered themselves in glory. However, it appears that the licensing team have cut them some slack, then pulled the rug from under them. Ludicrous that Buckie weren't given an unambiguous ultimatum of what they had to do and by what date. Also crazy that it got so close to the wire. Yet another embarrassing episode from the clowns at Hampden who gave us the Conference proposal, the Cinch fiasco and many other screw ups over the years.- 378 replies

A bit like the Loch Ness Monster and the Ark of the Covenant, spoken about a lot but probably don't exist in reality. Certainly not in evidence during today's shit show. -
I've always found Catholic royalists a bit odd. In fairness those you have mentioned are/were odd (to put it mildly) for a variety of reasons. You would think that The Honourable Member for the 18th century would be familiar with the terms of the Act of Settlement, and find them just a wee bit problematic? I suppose part of the problem is the ludicrous role of the monarch as head of the Church of England.

You've reminded me of a train trip to Palmerston from the weeg a few years back for a Queens v Thistle Scottish Cup tie. The Thistle fans sang a wee ditty, which IIRC went as follows - "If you want to go to heaven when you die, you must wear a Thistle jacket and a tie, you must wear a Thistle bonnet, with **** the Old Firm on it, if you want to go to heaven when you die." At which point an elderly gentleman rose to his feet, wagged a finger at the singers and said "You are totally out of order lads.... there's no such thing as the Old Firm any more."

Dundee v Motherwell - 6th April

Agreed there is no rule but given the risk of bad weather common sense dictates that the game is scheduled for the first available date. There are lots of examples of diddy teams being forced to play games ASAP. -

Quite incredible that the powers that be are looking at playing a game which is meaningful for both teams behind closed doors. That's the way to grow the game. Of course our old friend 'sporting integrity' means that it is better for all meaningful games in the last round pre split to start at the same time. However, one game was arranged for Sunday ages ago. If County had gone on a great run and could conceivably hit top 6 would that have been moved back to 3pm on Saturday -

His career started with a promotion to the top league in 61-62 and finished with promotion from the third tier to the second tier in 80-81. A to pro and by all accounts a very nice man too. I wonder how many games he played with Allan Ball? -

I think Logan is OK, would have Efe for Mckay, Gav for Joel who presumably can't play and McGuffie for Ferguson. -
Well played getting highlights up so soon. Good luck in the play-offs if you get there. Hopefully we won't be in the other play-offs!

Is there not an issue here with the work/life balance you can have as an international manager compared to the pressures of managing Aberdeen where there is very little respite? -
I geniunely have no axe to grind here, but do you have a source for this info? Interesting stuff if true but the last few years have turned me into a (more) cynical old bugger.

Greenock Morton v Heart of Midlothian

Inverness have had lots of lunchtime kick offs in semi finals in either Glasgow or Edinburgh, and I think most of them have been on Sundays. This does speak to the contempt with which paying spectators are regarded. -

The list of shareholders is tricky to navigate as it is so big and not quite in alphabetical order but the last one filed does show Davie Rae holding 36,233 shares (page 44 of the first document on the list). My understanding is that he is still close to the Board, in which case there would be absolutely no chance of that happening. I would support the idea of fans taking control but I'm not hopeful that that will ever happen (and before anyone mentions it I appreciate that the current directors are all fans of the Club!). -

One of the problems Queens have is the spread of shareholdings. There are 150,000 shares spread between around 1,000 shareholders. The vast majority are fans who bought small amounts of shares when the Club was in financial trouble a few years back. According to the last statement on Companies House (former chairman) Davie Rae is the biggest shareholder, with around 24%. It is quite hard to look at the rest of the ownership as the list is very long and not quite in alphabetical order. I think Billy Hewitson is second biggest with around 6%. There are a number of other reasonable sized shareholding so a takeover is problematic regardless of who wants to take over. It also doesn't help that the relationship between the Board and the Supporters Trust is very poor.
