  1. Coming up to date, Black Midi are quite a unit. That drummer.
  2. Spirit of Eden, Laughing Stock and the solo Mark Hollis make up a holy trinity of late night listening.
  3. Blur's Popscene and For Tomorrow were both fantastic singles. The post-shoegaze Boo Radleys probably released the best album in Wake Up. But this really was a time when mediocrity ruled the waves. I mean Shed Seven, come on. Oh and by the way Oasis were the shitehawks who well and truly killed off any notion of counterculture that the UK had. The day McGee signed them was the day Creation ceased to be relevant. Bring it on.
  4. As We Could Ever - His Name Is Alive Windfall - Son Volt Thinking About You - Frank Ocean Chasing A Bee - Mercury Rev I Wanna Be Adored - Stone Roses Sure 'Nuff 'N Yes, I Do - Beefheart
  5. One of the biggest musical regrets of my life not going to see Magnolia Electric Co. play at Mono when they did. Always makes me think of Homer meeting Mr T at the mall. I'll go a little later, I'll go a little later then they told me he'd just left.
  6. So as a neutral observer are we saying that the league title was awarded so that you could have a representative in the Scottish next season because if that's the case you could have saved yourself a lot of bother. Surely you can all see that it's highly unlikely that there will be a Scottish Cup next season.
  7. A compelling argument but no, they are still dugshit.
  8. IMO they should be letting more teams in the big Scottish not less. A couple of early prelim rounds like the English FA cup. That's the whole allure of that competition. A 9th tier team wins a few games and possibly lands a League 2 team. Surely every team would forego a crappy local cup for the chance to go on a run in the Scottish Cup, no?
  9. One of the best gigs I have ever been to was NMH at King Tuts in 1998 supporting Sparklehorse. A truly religious experience. In The Aeroplane Over The Sea still sounds awesome after all these years. On a broader note, any Elephant 6 enthusiasts out there. Apples in Stereo are for me even better than NMH and Olivia Tremor Control and The Minders were very good bands as well.
  10. In a parallel universe was as big as Neil Young. An amazing talent with a tragic back story. So many great songs. Hold On Magnolia, Being In Love, The Dark Don't Hide It are today's favourites.
  11. Very strange decision to hand out titles like this. Thought they would have gone down the null and void route like the east. Especially as you've got the new set up next season. Anyway congrats to all concerned.
  12. Had a nostalgic wee half hour earlier on Half Life Remembered - Pale Saints Slowdive - Slowdive Winona - Drop Nineteens Suzanne - Moose Falling Down - Chapterhouse Don't Ask Why - MBV
  13. I was at the game. Nobody near him so no red card. Just a bit of a brain fart. Shame there will be no replay. After all we'd heard about how we were just a diddy east team heading to the slaughter, we were head and shoulders above Darvel and should have comfortably won on the day.
  14. I read this whole thread and cannot believe nobody brought up Appetite For Destruction. Truly the worst band of all time. No better than the other hair metal of the time like Motley Crue or WASP. Thank god grunge came along and blew all that shite away but quite how GNR survived the cull is anybodys guess.
  15. Yup. Quite spooky listening to him. Like a posher version of his old man
  16. Excellent. Identical to Duellers sending off in the East Superleague play off vs Armadale in 2015.
  17. Peel was the main man for me. 6 music is dreadful during the day but a couple of great presenters at night in Gideon Coe and Tom Ravenscroft. Late Junction on Radio 3 is always worth a listen. Bit of a scandal that they have cut it down to just Friday nights now. Maybe its my age but Radio 1 these days is enough to get music stopped.
  18. Personally I love Memory Of A Free Festival and The Bewlay Brothers but that is a strong contender posted by 8MileBU.
  19. Not usually interested in live albums but the new Animal Collective "Ballet Slippers" is an absolute gem. Captures an amazing live band at the top of their game. Beautiful packaging as well.
  20. Certainly answered the early season critics. The only player I know of to have been sent off during a penalty shoot out. Any advance on that anyone?
  21. Bad luck this season old chap. With the west teams involved now I'm guessing that's as close as you will ever get to requiring an open top bus of your own.
  22. Peel Dream Magazine new album is very good for anyone who has ever tapped a toe to MBV or Stereolab. I cannot understand the love being afforded the Dua Lipa album. She is a honking goose. Robyn she is not.
  23. Amen to that brother. Pretty sure we'll still be juniors when the new season eventually does kick off. 18 team league would be ideal with 34 games but Luncarty are probably out of here. Were Scone not supposed to be thinking of jumping ship as well?
  24. As we are the only junior team left in the cup I think it's only fair that we are awarded the trophy.
