  1. Although, I agree with @Dons_1988 that we shouldn't be accepting the first offer, I'm also slightly concerned that we miss the optimal (sorry, I couldn't think of another word)time for selling him for maximum return. I don't trust Glass and his team to utilise, train and look after him properly. For instance, I thought they should've taken him off earlier than they did against Sevco. He didn't look to be running freely, and he was having a torrid time during the game. He hasn't looked good since he returned from injury at Easter Road. If we could transfer him for £4 million with add-ons for any future transfer, I think that would be a great piece of business. I know others would disagree with that, but a player is like a share price. There's so much that can suddenly affect positively or negatively the value, that my first instinct is to cash-in when a decent profit is on offer rather than gamble on future gains.
  2. 18 month deal!! I'll be surprised if that move works out. Nevertheless, McGinn was a very important player for Aberdeen during the 2010s. The good moments became all too fleeting in his second spell though and should've never been awarded a lengthy three year contract on his return from South Korea; whilst one year extension last summer was, and has been proven, ridiculous. I wasn't surprised he returned here from South Korea but I think he should've taken on a fresh challenge rather than sit comfortably at Aberdeen. I don't think it was a particularly good move for club or player although there were flashes of his old brilliance during the second spell. I think a Scottish Cup match at Rugby Park stands out for me. I was rather hoping he would re-appear at Cove Rangers. He may well do if Dundee doesn't work out for him. He would certainly pull a few curious Dons fans through the turnstiles if he does land at the Balmoral Stadium.
  3. I'd call it quits with Ojo in the summer. He's turning 31, he's taking a significant wage and probably unlikely to accept a deal worth less money. He hasn't done enough to justify another year on the same money.
  4. I was late into the stadium last night so missed the first ten minutes but the final 20 minutes changed my perception of our performance. I thought both sides were really poor up until we equalised then I felt a tinge of disappointment that we didn't find the winner. I felt Sevco were there for the taking last night. Jonny Hayes did very well after filling in for the substituted Ramsey. I thought Ramsey looked a bit lost last night and his running, certainly in the second half when I could see him better from my Section Y viewpoint, seemed inhibited. Perhaps a touch of cramp. We switched off for their goal. I thought Joe Lewis should have cleaned out Hagi. He needs to be braver there, I felt that last night and it was confirmed to me when I viewed one particular angle of it on Sportscene. Ojo was awful. He doesn't offer anything useful going forward. Bates is turning into a great acquisition and he's helping McCrorie improve in that central defence position too. Ferguson was ice cool with the penalty despite the movement before he kicked it. It's a pity he wasn't old enough in 1996 when Uri Geller moved the ball at Wembley. All in all, I'll take the point and hopefully the lads will take some confidence from it and kick on. And a word on Connor McLennan. I didn't think he was going to do much when he was preparing to come on but he did offer us something different which we were missing in an attacking sense for much of the game. Someone needs to show the stadium announcer what Dylan McGeouch and Connor McLennan looks like so he doesn't get confused again.
  5. This transfer is cloaked in mystery; however, the evidence (the McInnes preference on players that had played in the British game, and the fact that he barely played him) suggests that McInnes was presented with this player. If that was the case then I can fully understand why McInnes didn't play him. I'm not sure that the player himself (Hernandez) or the manager (McInnes) understood why he had ended up at Aberdeen. Most fans didn't either. Of course, the restrictions were tough on the player and his family. Although, I assume the family wasn't with him in Norway either. There was something rotten to the core with regards this transfer and Cormack was at the centre of it. I remember when I first heard about it one Friday afternoon and it seemed odd straight away. That Hernandez transfer news in fact indirectly told us that McInnes days were numbered.
  6. That's not really a surprise since your username is made up of two players that played over 1000 matches for Oldco. We've seen a similar type of article from this rag, and others like it, nearly every time we've hosted a team from Govan for at least the last 25-30 years. As @Ricmentions, it's directed at a Sevco audience. A national newspaper is reviewing a Scottish League fixture like it's the good guys going to some Mafia-riddled backwater in the North Caucasus (no offence meant to the North Caucasus region just an example of how the Scottish (and indeed, British) football media has a tendency to portray 'foreign'). Besides, although Albertz admits in the article that his information is coming from biased source ("the Scottish boys") and admits that he "doesn't know if the rivalry was as bad before the tackle" ("the Scottish boys" have obviously provided him a one-sided perspective), the reader is invited to accept THAT (another irritation where they always describe it as thus) tackle was pretty much the foundation of the "hatred". Where's the balance? If it was a Gruesome Twosome match we'd get POV from both sides.
  7. In my opinion, the most likeliest explanation is the Joe Lewis wants to go back south in the summer. Perhaps it's connected to that personal situation that was blamed for his dip in form this season. I think that those that believe that Lewis and Clark will be battling it out for the No#1 spot, or that Lewis is going to replace Marshall as goalkeeping coach, or indeed that St Johnstone are going to take Woods as part of the Clark deal are way off the mark. If we're trying to source a No#1 then Joe Lewis time at Aberdeen is nearly up. Mainstand Moan said it's related to the kicking abilities of Lewis which the management team want to improve but I think that's nonsense too because Clark isn't much better.
  8. And, of course, has plenty of experience in the League Cup group stages with Saints that he can hopefully pass onto our boys if required in the summer...
  9. Interesting, because that's not what MainstandMoan suggested... "McGrath deal likely. Kennedy presently being offered as make weight." ...so you don't suddenly starting impressing over the last couple of days so either.. 1. MainstandMoan was guessing using the common held rumours. 2. St Mirren didn't want Kennedy and/or McGrath isn't happening until at least the summer. 3. Aberdeen's hoping to attract potential suitors for Kennedy by suggesting he's impressing.
  10. I had a brief romance with Plymouth Argyle after leading them to 14th in the old English Third Division on the C64's The Double...then moved to Derby County, signed Tony Pulis for £5000 from Newport County, and the rest, as they say, is history...
  11. Rumours are rife (not from me I hasten to add, I have no idea), that the announcement of McGrath signing is imminent and player might be offloaded the other way.
  12. Not necessarily, I believe he does a podcast that is popular with young Dandies.
  13. I'm not feeling overly negative about Dante. If the management team think he's good enough then that's fine. It's their jobs that will be assessed, in part, by the players they sign. It looks like we're losing Hedges and Ferguson this window, perhaps Ramsey too but he might return on a six month loan. We haven't been doing particularly well with them in the side, but without suitable replacements we might really struggle again. I thought in December that we're heading for a league position between 5th and 7th and a Scottish Cup quarter-final if we're lucky with the draw or a semi-final if we're very lucky. I don't think we're equipped squad wise to do much else and it's going to be nigh impossible for us to leave this window with a stronger squad than we entered it if we lose Hedges, Ferguson and possibly Ramsay. Therefore, the closing months of the season might just be like last season but without the European placed finish at the end of it. So we might as well give Dante Polvara a try, I don't think we have much to play for....
  14. He got shunted down because my abiding memory of Hornby was the sitter at Ibrox. Although, that might of been his best game* too and he showed a bit of promise. *I really can't remember much of last season. Matches in stadiums closed to fans is in my Room 101. I couldn't even watch us play in Lisbon online it was so grim.
  15. Well I'd agree with @Merkland Red and say that I'm being slightly harsh on Jenks, so in my opinion, in order of worthiness, I'd say.. 1. Ted Jenks 2. Callum Hendry 3. Flo Kamberi 4. Austin Samuels 5. Fraser Hornby 6. Matt Longstaff ...so I'd say the 1st half of this season's loans were marginally worse than the 2nd half of last season...although it's a horrible list
  16. Samuels, like Longstaff, won't be missed, and despite his two goals, Jenks hasn't made much of a mark either. Hopefully, we'll be a bit more shrewd going forward if delving into the loan market because that's an abysmal hit rate from the summer.
  17. MainstandMoan now says "AFC management are looking to replace Joe as they feel he is a weakness with the ball at his feet." I have questioned what this poster has said in the past (or more importantly, why they are saying it) which they didn't take too kindly to, although they're evidently well placed within the walls of Pittodrie so one should take heed of their musings. I hope Joe doesn't allow this speculation of a new keeper inbound to affect him in the second-half of the season as he's still our No.1 at least for the time being.
  18. I wouldn't have thought you would have anything to do with greenies Ali Bongo. Seriously though, don't you have anything better to do than hang around an Aberdeen thread giving your approval to anyone that gives me abuse? There's plenty of Sevco and Dundeh threads you can contribute on if you're at a loose end.
  19. Settle pettle... By the way, @Mr. Alli Bongo, you're a Sevco-loving throbber
  20. The kerfuffle during the Sevco double header in 2017 when it began to sour for me although I accept that the first question was rhetorical. Because I think he needs a fresh approach and outlook to the Killie job and forget about trying to recreate the past down at Rugby Park.
  21. I'm not sure if I would say "significantly worse" but he didn't seem to have the same appetite for the challenge by 2020 and, in my opinion, that can be traced back to the summer of 2017. He did lose key players in McLean, Jack and Hayes whilst Rooney's usefulness was coming to an end which was impossible to replace in such a short period but by 2020 we were finishing 4th under clubs with considerable less resources than ourselves in Killie and Motherwell. This wasn't Hearts or even Hibs, although by his last season the latter were on course to push his team down to at least 4th. In my view and it might well be a heap of shite, he's need to find that appetite and start all over again in a league lower than he's been use to over the last ten years. He's an older manager now seemingly on the downward spiral. Clarke was 54 when he took over at Killie was able to resurrect himself and McInnes is four years younger. However, McInnes starts from a lower base than Clarke. But I hope McInnes does well*, I just don't think he will.... *Although I would prefer and love to see Arbroath win the title
  22. Aye, sorry, I only meant a loan move for Campbell as per Main stand moan's suggestion. I think Campbell could benefit from a sustained spell in a first team and it seems unlikely with us at present.
  23. Well maybe I heard wrong so I'll retract "factual" as I have no proof, but the timing of Wright's removal and the sudden availability of Ross suggests that there was something in it and Killie were moving quick to get their man...
  24. I think Killie would need a couple of stellar windows too though...let's see who McInnes comes back to Aberdeen for because if it's the likes of Kennedy, McLennan, Campbell and McGinn then you may need to review. McInnes likes familiar faces so I wouldn't be surprised to see some ex-Aberdeen or current Aberdeen players wash up at Rugby Park soon....
