  1. The very one, there was incident with a flare or something that day. A nasty atmosphere contributing to a tasty match. Sorry, I've corrected my abysmal attempt at spelling Muirton in my original message now...
  2. I do remember attending a classic St Johnstone Vs Aberdeen game in recent memory when we beat them 3-4 at McDiarmid. McKenna came on as sub to, I think, make his debut. And I remember a mudbath at Muirton when we beat them in the Cup in 1988 was fairly dramatic day played in front of a large crowd. Then there was the two drubbings, one at McDairmid around 1990ish and the Pittodrie massacre around 2015. And the double semi-final season when and superb day at Tynecastle was followed by a dark day at Snake Mountain when we somehow contrived to lose a game we were dominanting. And there was the match that was abandoned with the Dons winning 3-0 as atrocious conditions triggered a power cut. So my point is that this fixture isn't always a shitfest but usually is... I think this will be another memorable occasion and the Dons will win 3-2.
  3. St Johnstone and Hibs are both struggling to recapture their form from the first half of 2021 and our tails should be up after two relatively straightforward home wins. If Glass can finish off with at least four wins before the midwinter break then the damage would be minimal. Three wins and a draw at Hibs wouldn't be a disaster either. The defence is definitely not watertight but, aside from Sevco, I don't expect St Johnstone, Dundee or Ross County to really test it. Hibs seem to be struggling although with Martin Boyle there's always a concern. Of course all this might be wishful thinking but a bit of belief can go a long way.
  4. Tefal heed trained with Hearts as a youngest according to the article where the photo appeared. I'm not sure about the wisdom of the Mohican under such circumstances. https://www.youthfootballscotland.co.uk/lawrence-shankland-opens-up-on-his-youth-career/
  5. Aye, there's no way he's coming back to Aberdeen. The player wouldn't want to and the club want rid of him.
  6. Although he's done well for us this season, perhaps Scott Brown missing will be one of those quirks where it actually benefits us. I'm probably clutching at straws but I'm feeling in positive mood this morning; therefore, scrape a narrow one goal win which kick starts a very good December for us. Aberdeen 2-1 Livingston
  7. I believe the Spain vs Yugoslavia play-off was shown live on the ITV network with Hugh Johns on mic duties...
  8. In my opinion, Kenny McLean was a great player for us and showed is class in that final six months he was on loan to us having already signed for Norwich City. Others may have 'protected' themselves and packed the tools away but he seemed to raise his game. He was a Jonny Hayes forward pass from being the potential goalscoring matchwinner in the 2017 Scottish Cup Final. Alas, Hayes passed it over behind him and we lost out. He did reasonably well in Europe too against decent teams scoring away to Rijeka and home and away against Kairat.
  9. I think it's inevitable that we'll get drawn a tricky away match tonight so all the vultures can gather in anticipation of a negative result.
  10. At Aberdeen? When? He must be the modern day Zoltan Varga. I don't remember many saying he was a "joy to watch" at the time. Greedy, mincing about with gloves is what I remember...and the goal against Sevco which the keeper should've saved
  11. It's not wild at all, if it wasn't for the goal against Sevco, I wouldn't remember is spell at Aberdeen at all...
  12. Rangers?? And you didn't get that "straight" at all, I don't think you read or didn't want to read my message properly
  13. James Maddison, which, Sevco goal aside, all I remember about him was an unwillingness to pass... although, to be fair, a last minute winner against Sevco probably puts his head above the biggest disappointments waterline, no matter how pish the goalkeeping was on that particular occasion.
  14. Which ever way you polish it, the league table says we're a team in decline. A decline which began in earnest when Cormack and McInnes started working together. Glass is symptom of the issue but not the root cause. Dave Cormack is a man who thinks he has all the answers but if he doesn't take a step back then we're going to be in trouble soon enough. I don't think Glass is the answer but who is signing these players? I don't think it's the manager. Cormack basically said as much when he discussed the managerial recruitment process (which, of course, amounted to shooing in Glass). Something feels wrong about the organisational structure at the club. The December matches will give us a better idea if we're going to be in a relegation battle this or season, or if we'll have to wait until next season but I think it's valid to be concerned at the direction the Dons are going in under Dave Cormack.
  15. All smashing, but I think I'd rather someone, namely Cormack, addressed the real issue with regards this rather hopeless and 'out of their depth' management team that is currently in charge. We're sinking perilously close to the foot of the table. What would be "wholly unacceptable" is if Glass remains in the job because Cormack can't bring himself to admit that he's made a mistake with the managerial appointment....
  16. That doesn't tell the whole story though @senorsoupe. I remember as a 10 going on 11 child watching the match against France. The French started off in blasé fashion, thinking that they were going to swat the Canadians aside, but as the match progressed and the Mexican sun rose the French became more agitated as the score remained 0-0 and Papin missed chance after chance. Canada were very unlucky during that match and vaguely recall a very good performance from Paul Dolan.
  17. I know but it just sounds like some horrendous Europop cheese...I keep checking Black Lace's back catalogue to see if they've covered it.
  18. Are you a cuckold? There's probably better sites for that kind of thing other than P&B
  19. I love Scotland winning and I love going to watch them.... ... however, I wish we'd give that "We'll be coming down the road" ditty a miss, I find it grating.. Probably an unpopular viewpoint but just my grumpy old man musings.
  20. I think it might've been but during his first spell as manager in 1965.
  21. On a completely off topic and irrelevant point, I've recently been enjoying the Canadian 1986 World Cup tune. I think it might be from the same songwriting team that gave Aberdeen fans The European Song in 1983. Crackin' stuff
  22. Excuse my ignorance, who's the chap on the right? His clobber seems to be from the mid-1990s, Lambie looks like a Sweeney extra from the early to mid 1970s whilst Bertie Auld looks late 1970s/very early 1980s.
