  1. That's not correct, we could've attracted a far better manager, remember English clubs had just been banned from Europe for a start. The fact is Dick Donald chose the cheap option. I remember at the time, Sandy Jardine was favoured and then suddenly one Monday night ( I think), Reporting Scotland announced it was Porterfield.
  2. You're correct that we should get behind him. He's in the same position as Glass in that he's be offered, what some may think, is a step up and it looks like he's going to take the opportunity. And again, if this doesn't work, then the focus will come back on Cormack. I do hope the suggestion that we're parting with £250k to get him is false though. If he starts at the beginning of next week then he opens with a nice fixture against the old foes of the guest of honour. Perhaps that day can spark some goodwill. Then it's a tough couple of fixtures with Hearts and Sevco away before the usually winnable home match against Hibs. I've heard, third hand, rumours from a person on the coaching staff that the general feeling amongst them is that the first team maybe aren't too concerned about this season's form. Therefore, I don't think it's an ideal environment that Goodwin is entering, and he isn't going to be able, with this current squad, to build up a head of steam of positivity with wins. The fans are, if online chatter and that of my What's App group are any gauge , are generally skeptical about Goodwin, and as a supporter myself, I'm confused about the direction and the ambitions of the club under Cormack. We may have moved up a league placing last night but, in my opinion, there's a feeling of downward trajectory throughout the club at the moment.
  3. We might as well end the fantasy chatter. We all know it's going to be Goodwin. It's an awful appointment that has all the hallmarks of Cormack consulting Gunn who, in turn, seems to consult social media chatter.
  4. They don't entertain anyone...they suck the life out of everyone subjected to their agricultural shite... No wonder you're called the Saints, you need to have the patience of Saint to put up with that nonsense every week. I remember St Johnstone in the good old days of Alex Rennie, when you came up to Pittodrie, played nice football with the classy Stuart Beedie and took a pasting but everyone enjoyed the match.
  5. With Woods, Brown and Gallagher all likely to miss this encounter then I'm feeling very encouraged that we can take three points back up to Aberdeen. The law of averages says that a team as poor as Motherwell can't get lucky four times in a row.
  6. Those top graphics (the heat map or whatever) reminds me on the sleeve of Jimi Hendrix's Electric Ladyland...
  7. No, I'm saying St Johnstone F.C are an embarrassment to football and devoid of entertainment.
  8. I'm afraid you robbed yourselves of three points with those embarrassing tactics of feigning injury at any given opportunity, having the slowest physio in the history of football, poor finishing and not taking full advantage when those useless twats Gallagher and Brown were on the pitch.
  9. Correct... ...although you're being a bit harsh on the final 25-30 minutes after the aforementioned p***k left the field. I like the attitude of both Besuijen and Montogomery.
  10. I haven't read any of the post match comments but my thoughts are: Montgomery and the Dutch lad did well after they came on. Hopefully Broon is out for the season and he never wears an Aberdeen shirt again. Not only is he an arse but he's part of the problem in my opinion with regards our form. McKenzie isn't good enough Gallagher should never play for Aberdeen again. The worst 45 minutes for Aberdeen I can remember since Jerel Ifil against Raith Rovers* in the Cup replay, although Ifil probably edges it. Ferguson played a lot better once that twat Broon left the pitch. First half was horrendous but I enjoyed the second-half after Broon got injured. My wish is for Joe Lewis to be reinstated as team captain. *Although, I'm forgetting about Paul Hartley's contribution to the game that shouldn't be mentioned. That tops both Ifil and Gallagher.
  11. Exactly, but just watch the change of opinion on here if it becomes clear that Goodwin's the man. They'll search for positives, find some where none exist, cling to other slim pickins' and in a year or two's time we'll be in the same position (or worse) as Goodwin gets his jotters. If the rumours are true though, Cormack has his heart set on a lazy and supposedly 'safe' appointment.
  12. Our retreat to the shadows can be tracked against the emergence of Sevco as a force. It's not so much the fans that don't embrace the challenge as the chairmen, managers and players that shy away. However, fans will walk away if they don't believe the club are making a real effort to compete. Most Aberdeen fans yearn to challenge again.
  13. Again though you can't compare the beginning of the McInnes era without considering the environment he was operating in. Without wishing to belittle that Scottish League Cup triumph, and you can only beat who is put in front of you, however, Sevco lost to Forfar, Celtic lost to Morton, Hearts beat Hibs but then lost to Inverness in semis. A path was cleared that we still need to take advantage of but it wasn't a cup triumph that we necessarily needed to perform at our best to win, as penalty wins against Alloa and ICT proved. I'd always be disappointed if those results happened and our main rivals crashed out early and we failed to win the Cup. I just fear that the new man is coming into much tougher environment and without being left the attacking armory that McInnes inherited in both peak Hayes and McGinn. I think he's going to need to get off to a fairly decent start to convince many supporters including myself. A more imaginative appointment would might get longer to develop his team and have the supporters being more patient as we saw under Skovdahl (although that wasn't a success either). The McInnes reign gained momentum from the cup run and win as our rivals fell by the wayside, that kind of momentum booster would be much harder to achieve presently.
  14. If the media and the rumours are to believed the frontrunners are: The recently sacked manager of Bradford City The recently sacked manager of Hibernian, and before that, the sacked manager of Sunderland The manager of the team currently lying 6th in the Scottish Premiership and a whopping three points in front of ourselves I just don't see how any of these candidates are going to galvanise the club and the support. I always think Aberdeen are at its best when the supporters start believing. I'm struggling to envision a scenario where any of these three create a situation in the short-term where the fans start believing and things start to snowball. I would say that I'll back the new manager all the way whoever it is but I'll more than likely just distract myself with anything other than Aberdeen if results and performances don't start improving quickly. This has all the hallmarks of an Alex Miller type appointment (if there is any foundation to the speculation).
  15. That's very true for every club in Scotland apart from Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, where the journalists always do their best to excite the hordes with imaginative suggestions.
  16. Why is Goodwin even so hotly tipped? What exactly has he done to impress? All this chatter about either Ross or Goodwin makes me think the interest is elsewhere and they're leading people on a wild goose chase...or rather allowing people to go on their own wild goose chase.
  17. ITK = I think Knutsen I won't waste much money or energy going to watch Jim Goodwin's Aberdeen...it doesn't even sound right There's only one man in the know, and that's our glorious leader. I think any rumour surrounding Goodwin is nonsense. He might be on a shortlist but there's no way he's an outstanding candidate so it won't be decided in his favour at this point.
  18. My understanding was that Maloney was brought up in Bieldside which IS very much a posh part to the west of Aberdeen. And it seems to be confirmed here
  19. This train will need a bogbrush*, so count me in... *Although, I don't think I've ever seen a bogbrush on a train and I've travelled the world on trains (well part of the world at least)
  20. Good call @Ludo*1...even a Dundee man knows what's good and what isn't for The Dons
  21. This is our man, Kjetil Knutsen. Come on DC, make it happen... Forget Goodwin, Ross, McKay and all that jazz, the Norsk man is our fella...
  22. I doubt the presence of Stephen Glass as manager had much bearing on any of these players signing.
