  1. I thought they already had a partner across the street from them? I've always thought not having a local derby to contend with has been an advantage although the rapid advances of Cove Rangers might change that (at least until Banks o' Dee advance to the Premiership and the Aberdeen - Cove Rangers rivalry is usurped by the Wellington Road derby)
  2. It does seem odd, even more so because his position isn't one we're particularly strong in. Although, we heard this with Ethan Ross going to Southampton on trial after being freed and he ended up at Raith.
  3. This is true but I haven't seen anyone mention the prominent role of Russ Richardson in this transfer. Or maybe I just missed the posts mentioning it, but I'm assuming that Richardson has alerted Liverpool to Ramsey.
  4. From an Aberdeen perspective, only six sleeps to go before the turgid pish ends for another six weeks...
  5. A seven-figure sum not some, the Daily Record needs better proof readers before publishing, that's embarrassing for professionals.
  6. I didn't go to the match but had the great misfortune of boarding a train at Inverkeithing (after attending the Queen's Park game) where a carriage full of Aberdeen supporters were returning from Easter Road. I normally avoid the train especially if it's the same day as an Aberdeen away match on the route but I mistakenly thought there wouldn't be much travelling down. It was full of pastel jackets, or jackets with goggles, shorts, youths, men old enough to know and dress more appropriately, and indeed I think some were father and son combos. I should've waited an extra hour and jumped on the Megabus at the Halbeath Interchange. Regrets, regrets... Also, Inverkeithing seems to have quite a large Hibs support. Is there more Hibs than Hearts in Inverkeithing? Although, I suppose they could've been headed for Rosyth or Dunfermline too...Commuter overspill I suspect.
  7. I was more coming from the angle that firstly had Sevco played Qarabag this season then I could only see one winner, and that, unfortunately, wouldn't be the Azeris. And secondly, I thought we ourselves had enough in the squad on paper if not on the night, to get through that tie and qualify for the Conference League. I think Scottish clubs and supporters, obviously out with Sevco for the last few seasons, has an inferiority complex, and we laud these teams. If there is one thing that Sevco's European performances have shown, that if you get after them and don't give them respect and time on the ball then there's opportunities for every Scottish club to improve in Europe. I think we're better than the Qualifying Rounds and I want us to believe it.
  8. Generally speaking, Taylor did well for us and even the lapses of concentration were reducing by the time we released him. However, he's gone and we must get more from the players we have now. I think Bates & Gallagher are a hopeless combination but those are the players we have and Goodwin needs to find a way of improving them and building their confidence as a partnership. Every season we discuss about clearing the deadwood but completely obliterating the squad every summer isn't going work. We need to get back to having the nucleus of a settled squad and making a few tweaks here and there. And I suppose that's where we as supporters need to try and be more patient. A few bad games in a row doesn't necessarily make a bad player just like a few good games doesn't make a star
  9. I understand the irritation when there's just constant negativity. My negativity did have a foundation in positivity though. On hearing that those lot had reached the Europa League final it was frustrating to think, that certainly in two of the three games (I didn't see any of the Goodwin match against them) that they weren't much better than us. It made me feel that we could've got so much more from this squad this season than we did. Unfortunately, Willie Garner took the brunt of my flak just because I read this morning him being quoted as saying on the website that he had mostly been in contact with Cormack. Believe or not, I had been quite positive about Garner's appointment yesterday on my Whats App group chat and wondered if he could be a candidate for Director of Football.
  10. My apologies, obviously that is incorrect, everyone has been critical at some point.
  11. Again your own interpretation of my post is worng, I said "but a lot of the chaps on here seem detached from reality...or maybe they just strive greenie acceptance and don't express their true opinions" but at no point did I say that there are posters that have never criticised the club...but there are some who rarely criticise they club. I won't bother naming them, they know who they are themselves.
  12. "but a lot of the chaps" not everyone so don't make things up. No wonder you didn't use the quote function...
  13. Exactly, my point is that we were capable of giving Qarabag a far sterner test. I felt that the opinion that Qarabag just played too well against us that we couldn't do much about it was unjustified.
  14. This was similar to my thoughts too...and then I compared that performance to our performances in the two Glass matches against Sevco and felt frustrated at the Qarabag performance. I felt it was a missed opportunity. In fact, the whole season has been a missed opportunity. I'm sure we had a better squad that we've showed this season. I mean we were good enough to beat the future Europa League finalists on their own patch had we not had that intervention from the referee. It sometimes feels to me when I read this forum that we, as a support, are too ready to accept mediocrity or even worse to the extent that we find excuses to explain failure.
  15. Well, I think we've reason to moan given the paucity of success in the last 30 years...but a lot of the chaps on here seem detached from reality...or maybe they just strive greenie acceptance and don't express their true opinions. It's true that we shouldn't only express negative views but some on here never seem to think nothing is negative at all about Aberdeen, that everything we do is entirely logical even if it is the complete opposite of what they were saying a couple of days previously. I find that odd.
  16. Strange days when an Aberdeen fan is calling Sevco by the name of Oldco...
  17. Did we sugar coat the announcement of our assistant manger from 35 years ago to the board too? Unfortunately, Cormack seems intent of surrounding himself with 'Yes' men and all the better if they're his heroes from the far off distance past. This season hasn't ended (nor has our play off fears yet), nor have we even started our summer recruitment, but already I feel the darkened skies shifting towards Pittodrie readying to empty itself over season 2022/23.
  18. I think the doubt lies in how Qarabag's good performance was assisted by our own poor performance.
  19. I thought the general assumption on here was that Qarabag was the best team we'll play all season? Last night seems to have blown that nonsense out of the water.
  20. I agree but a player not fitting into a system is completely different from saying that he "showed absolutely no ability or desire" as we read from @Illgresi earlier in the thread. However, Anderson has shown, that with a competent winger alongside him, that he can score. If he had played when Hayes and McGinn were on top form then I believe he would have reaped the rewards. Unfortunately, by the time he was ready, McInnes was resorting to the agricultural method that saw Cosgrove prosper for a season and a half. He was then joined by the physical presence that was Curtis Main but that didn't work either
  21. I'm not sure what those expectations are because we've only won one cup since 1995 which is either the same or less than the teams you mentioned. If it's the expectation that we won't be relegated then perhaps. I think it's more a case that we have to shop for players that are on the cheaper side and more a risk. I wouldn't sign Charles-Cook either. That's part of the problem. We sign players like Greg Stewart because he had a good six months for Kilmarnock rather than sign players that would fit into a system we want to play.
  22. "To an extent" does not suggest "showing absolutely no ability or desire", the expression you are looking for is "JET".
  23. Bruce Anderson is second joint top goalscorer in the league with three games left on his first full season away at Pittodrie. If that doesn't impress you then you should've added Lawrence Shankland to your list....
  24. You'd still be £3.10 a goal for a 5-5...there are a couple of reasons that this match should be boycotted by all visiting supporters. Firstly the admission price, and secondly to show displeasure at the season without putting the club out of pocket (like, for instance, if we boycotted the last home match).
  25. I personally don't think Liverpool is a good move for Ramsey's development. He's 19 in the summer and needs as much first team football as possible to develop. I assume they'll loan him out but if, for instance, there was interest in Italy then I would encourage him to try his luck there.
