  1. That's if it a limited capacity is 7,500...to be honest if I'd paid the guts of £400 for a season ticket then I would expect entry to be a given and view of the match very much a primary concern...but then that's just me, I'm not one of the club's saviours like those first 7,500. Actually, to cast a sceptical eye on the club who are beyond reproach, I'm probably not a Dandy at all
  2. 1st Game v St Mirren March 3rd 1984 (missed the glory years) I've attended over 700 games at Pittodrie and watched the Dons over 100 times away including Ukraine, Czech Republic, Spain, Germany, Latvia, Croatia and England. I'm not a diehard but I love the club nevertheless.
  3. Oh aye, I'm not blindly backing the club so I'm not an Aberdeen supporter
  4. Well they've told people who have purchased season tickets it's "first come first served" but what does that mean? Season tickets are purchased for certain areas of the ground. Some areas will be sold in greater frequency than others. They are selling seats next to each other. If more people buy a ticket for Section A rather than Section B does that mean Section B seats are guaranteed entry but Section A are not? Some areas of the ground cost more than others or have different rates depending on age. Are they going to guarantee tickets for those in more expensive seats. I keep being told that Aberdeen are being very open but I don't think they've full explained how this is going to work but have nevertherless continued to punt season tickets These questions aren't issues at the moment will there's goodwill and righteousness about saving the club. They only become an issue when some season ticket holders get into matches whilst others don't. I have no idea what you mean that I'm "not arguing in good faith". I'm expressing my point of view, that's all..
  5. They shouldn't be signing high wage earners like a 33 year old Jonny Hayes if they're pleading poverty. Remember Aberdeen fans are also going to be affected by Covid and the drop in price of Brent Crude. Yes, it's people's own choice how they manage their financial affairs but as we've seen in this thread, fans don't apply logic to the support they give their team.
  6. If your club's stadium has a capacity of 10,000 seats and it's sold out to that capacity; however it's currently under construction to increase the capacity to 11,000 but it won't be ready until a later point in the season at an unspecified date. Do you not think it's slightly dishonest to sell tickets above the 10,000 capacity from the start of the season?
  7. Are you suggesting we should sign Griffiths? But some of the posters on here think we're very close to not having a club to support but you would like to spend what limited financial resources we have on Griffiths? Indeed, why have we signed Hayes? Whether wages are deferred or not, should our club, supposedly on it's knees, not be adapting to the financial environment we're in?...But no, getting the begging bowl out, tug on a few heartstrings and get the fans buying tickets for matches they won't see. Then try to entice more fans to buy tickets over the suggested capacity but leaking out stories about being on the brink of signing an 'international striker'
  8. Perhaps, but we'll see what the reaction will be from the supporters that bought season tickets if they can't see the team either because the limited capacity is less that 7,500 or because they've continued to punt tickets despite reaching capacity levels.
  9. I don't think they're being open and honest about how they are continuing to sell season tickets above this 7,500 figure that they suggest will be the limited capacity. If they were open and honest they would've said that they don't when fans will be allowed back in and what the capacity will be once they are allowed back in. If they were being open and honest then users wouldn't be thanking Fillin for clarifying their plans with entrance for season ticket holders. The marketing campaign to sell season tickets has been at best misleading. I suspect the 'International striker' is part of that marketing campaign.
  10. Or a deliberate attempt to cloud the issue so more people purchase season tickets. They're getting very close to swindling their own diehard home fans.
  11. Well it's certainly working.. Who cares what Jetset Willy says? I'm more interested in finding out who our new 'International striker' is
  12. So on June 28th Canada's version of Walter Mitty was informing us that Cosgrove was staying. Today the Pittodrie mole on AbMad informs us that Cosgrove is leaving and then along comes the furlough fantasist with more of the inside track. I'm not going to deny that his posts aren't eagerly anticipated but only to see where he's s going with it next. He's a confidence trickster, he says so much things that he'll get a hit. I'm starting to wonder if he's ever actually been to Canada...
  13. Coincidentally, I was on AFC Heritage, and there was new pic on the home page, that had John Jocky Scott scoring a pen against Dundee United from what I believed was the 1975/76 season. It looked like Brian McGinlay (Balfron) was reffing and I erroneously thought it was too early for him. The first game I checked was the Willie Young game, although the actual game was a 5-3 match. Was Willie Young itching for his move down south by that time? It's got a certain feel about the McKenna situation to it... Was Willie Young popular with our fans? I never think of him as an ex Aberdeen player when I watch old footage. I thought he acted like a bit of throbber on the pitch. I can't believe he played for both Spurs and Arsenal although Spurs were a bit pish around his time. He might have played in the team that was relegated actually. Looks like a taller Barry Robson. I was born 17 days before that Willie Young match. Actually, that pic wasn't on AFC Heritage home. I can't remember where I saw it now.
  14. Jim Leighton and Bryan Gunn was pretty good.... I wasn't old enough to see Bobby Clark in the flesh but on the rare occasions I've seen old recordings he looked ropey and not very commanding. As with Davie Robb, his preformance at Wembley in 71 was woeful...
  15. Your comments seem to be accepted without question; however, I can't help thinking you're talking a lot of pish. At the end of last week St Mirren were coming in for Cerny, but today they announce the signing of Alnwick and suddenly Cerny is signing again. So let's get it straight here what you're saying : McKenna is leaving for £4.5 million or more? Is Ferguson staying or leaving? You've suggested both Logan is leaving? Hedges is staying? Wright and Anderson are going on loan and then leaving for good? McLennan is going on loan? And how do you know McInnes preferred first XI? And how does this board member know who West Brom are after? I suppose if you say enough possible outcomes with permutations then something should fall correct eventually. I think you've as much insider info as me, which is sweet F. A...
  16. It's true of course that we had better quality players in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and stretching into the 1990s. We qualified for five straight finals and even qualified for a last eight in Europe. However, there seemed to be a mindset by the SFA, players, media and, possibly to a certain extent, the supporters that qualification was a mountain climbed and anything more would be a bonus. Consequently, the bonus never arrived and we were pumped out each and every time at the first hurdle. It's part of an inferiority complex Scottish football and it's people hold. When BBC Scotland cover Scotland games and European matches against good sides, they speak about their good players like our lot shouldn't be on the pitch with them. The excuse was that we're a small nation and can't really compete with the larger countries but then Denmark win Euro92. Now they tell us that football has changed, and all these countries have joined UEFA/FIFA which makes it extremely difficult to even qualify but then Wales reached the Euro16 semi-finals. I don't think we should look back and think how great we've been. We've always been pish but in the past there was a few more glimmers of light in amongst the failure.
  17. No, I'm not. I'm saying that they don't bring 2,000 to Pittodrie. Of course they bring more fans than Dunfermline or Morton. Although, I remember a time in the late 1980s when Dunfermline use to fill the old Beach End. I don't know where their support went but I'd stay away from their matches too if I had to sit with some of the steamers that contribute to this forum proclaiming love for the Pars. The Poet, D.A Baracus and the zoomer from Koln for instance...
  18. Edinburgh is a kick in the ass away from Dunfermline. If East End Park was that close to Aberdeen then we'd bring about 7,000 to 10,000 supporters every time
  19. I haven't seen 2,000 Hearts supporters at Pittodrie since the finished 2nd in 1986. They would be around the 400-500 mark themselves. Maybe the last time round in the 2nd tier they took a little bit more but there was some bigger clubs in the league then like Newco and Hibs that would've made them feel that winning the Championship was an achievement. This time around, and no disrespect to the other teams, but they should be winning it unless their resources are seriously affected by the SNP's attempt to drive every club under...
  20. Well said Ian, they way some people speak you'd think that virus is magnetically attracted the old and vulnerable. The virus has to be delivered by a host that isn't properly protected to get inside the care home...
  21. If Nicola Sturgeon had taken the front foot on this matter and not waited for Westminister then Sevco wouldn't have played Bayer Leverkusen on the 12th March. I don't know how many times this has to be mentioned. This was the same Nicola Sturgeon that was quite happy for the Ugly Sisters derby to be played on the 14th March until Boris Karloff at 10 Downing Street changed the tactic. Scotland was going to adopt the same herd immunity strategy as south of the border and that's why 50,000 gathered at Snake Mountain on the 12th March. Boris changed his mind on the 13th and Nicola followed like a lap dog. It's all very well being pro-SNP but that doesn't mean we can't cast a critical eye on how they've handled the virus. That dick Jason Leitch might've done very well out of the crisis but thousands of small businesses and families are struggling economically throughout Scotland and they require some short-term strategy other than just stay at home...
