Steve McLaren is head and shoulders above everyone else that has been mentioned in this thread, in my opinion. If he wants it and United can afford him they should get the contract signed tomorrow.

I don’t know too much about these things, but after I heard that I checked Companies House for the accounts. It certainly looks correct, although I might not have been reading it correctly.

Can anyone explain what the underlying reasons are? I realise this is an inexact bit of maths here, but taking Pressley’s numbers that means the club must have spent £6 million during the last financial year?

Am I right in saying there would need to be 15 teams in favour from League One and League Two? Just based on a quick read of a Sunday newspaper and from listening to the radio yesterday we can maybe guess the following would vote against the proposal. Annan Athletic, Queen’s Park and Elgin. Given it would put them in the bottom tier, would it be safe enough to assume Peterhead, Clyde and Forfar would vote against it? Also have a feeling Dumbarton would vote against it as I’m sure they canvassed fan opinion before and it was overwhelmingly negative.

Yes, I am aware of this and have ideas that I could take on myself. Just need to run them by people at the club to make sure that they are feasible. Just realised that if there were 18 teams then each club would only get two of the 200x15 payments. That would mean around £14000 per club in the first season, then less in subsequent seasons. The clubs could easily collect more than that through fundraising initiatives etc. I’m sure, if they wanted to.

On the face of it, £125k upfront sounds like a lot. If it is split between the 16 other third tier clubs that would be around £7800. 200 tickets at £15 a pop four times per season would be a further £12,000. So clubs in the third tier stand to make around £20,000 extra in the first season. Less in subsequent seasons. Will clubs be able to say no to that? On a personal level, if my club supports it and it goes through they won’t see a penny of my money again.

It was reportedly £4.75m yesterday. What is happening?

Surprised that some people are disappointed with a £2 million investment. Given a week ago we had no sign of any positive news, I can’t see how this isn’t great news. I’m sure there’s a saying about beggars and choosers. Now, would I like it to be split evenly between the 42? No. Would I like it to be more? Yes. But that doesn’t really matter, our clubs now have an extra £50k to keep them going. The only issue I think it would be totally reasonable to have would be if it was tied in some way to reconstruction- which it apparently isn’t.

Several premiership clubs broadcast their games for overseas fans. It probably won’t be TV quality, but if they’re allowed to show games shot with a single camera with commentary, would that be enough for people?

Not sure if we don’t need money to get through next season, the board have a plan in place or they’re not too worried? I know that we have the Donate a Ticket option which has raised a reasonable amount, but it just seems like there is so much more that we could be doing to raise money to potentially ensure our club is able to compete next season. I don’t know if I’m being a bit harsh, and maybe I’ve missed something, but some communication through an official channel about the position the club is in might help to focus efforts - if any effort is required.
