  1. I honestly believe we could have qualified to the last 32 had VAR been used appropriately against PAOK and arguably in the Helsinki home match. Proud of Aberdeen in Europe this season. Credit to Robson and the team. I highly doubt any side outside the ugly sisters would have performed as well as we have.
  2. Robson has to go now. He's lost the majority of fans support. His stubbornness to change his tactical system and his neglect of the bench (which consists of two players whose combined transfer fees add up close to million) has been proven to be considerable factors in his downfall. Cormack needs to hire an experienced manager (similar to when Milne appointed McInnes) and stop the conveyor belt of rookie mangers we've become accustomed to recently. The fans have every right to be livid with Aberdeen right now.
  3. Robson has certainly neglected his bench and that's played a major role in some truly lacklustre performances on Sunday afternoons. He clearly doesn't rate a number of those who are occupying the bench. Vinnie, Williams and Dadia haven't played a single minute and will all be gone come January. The lack of minutes MacDonald has seen is somewhat perplexing given his performances last season. Sokler is only just getting a chance in the team now. I'd also argue some of our fringe players are just simply not good enough for where we'd like to be. Like others have suggested, Robson will have identified where improvements need to be made in the squad and no doubt he'll be given the funding needed to make those changes in January. I have a strong inkling that things will look a lot brighter after a run of home fixtures and the removal of European fixtures.
  4. I'm admittedly delusional as I'm fairly optimistic that our fortunes will change in the next 7 league fixtures. We've had an incredibly unfortunate fixture schedule resulting in 7 of the last 8 matches been played away from home. We've seen some strong performances in Europe against opposition that are considerably better than what we typical face domestically. I also wish (like Hearts) we'd drawn the likes of Riga instead of Helsinki as I'm sure we'd also have picked up 6 points at this stage. And If it hadn't been for VAR been used inappropriately we'd be going into this final European fixture with a chance of reaching the latter stages of the conference league. However the truth is we as a club aren't equipped to take on European exertions and then follow that up with domestic fixtures. It's clearly taken its toll on some of the players. The results, performances and current league table standings show that to be the case. We'd need to consistently qualify for European group stage football and continue to be successful with players sales in order to fund a squad capable of coping with the demands to perform on all fronts. The good thing is Europe is essentially over which should result in a marked improvement on our domestic results. Robson and the players have done remarkably well to make the league cup final and I firmly believe we have a great chance to win the cup this season. 5 of our next 6 league matches are at home. I feel Robson deserves the opportunity to build some momentum from those fixtures plus the opportunity to win the league cup. What's frustrating is we actually have a really good group of players and I don't feel the current position the club is in is a true reflection of their abilities. Capitalise on results whilst the others are playing the Ugly sisters, win our games in hand and ensure we win our home games and we could even find ourselves in the elusive third spot after only the next 7 games. We know it's possible because Robson did exactly that last season.
  5. Unbelievable. Terrible defending. Wasteful up front. It's been tough watching Aberdeen this season.
  6. Aberdeen's trip to Hibs on Sunday will be our 7th away fixture in eight games in 36 days. Robson claims we've had the toughest fixture schedule in Europe. Shinnie, Gartenmann, Devlin, Miovski and Clarkson should all be well rested and ready. McGrath and Sokler only played 45 mins on Thursday night. So I'm hopeful we won't see a tired performance this Sunday. The positive of playing so many away games is after Sunday we have 5 out of our next 6 league matches at home during the busiest period of the season.
  7. Regarding the league cup final, The Ranger's draw last night is a great result for Aberdeen. The Rangers now go to Seville having to get a result against Real Betis. Desperate for a win they'll most likely play their strongest 11 whereas we'll have one eye on the cup and will probably rest players against Frankfurt. It's arguably our best opportunity of silverware since McInnes' won the league cup back in 2014. It's hard to say what our best 11 is given the lack of game time a number of players have received. I would have liked to have seen MacDonald feature more this season. Rubezic the most obvious candidate to be rotated out for him. Vinnie would have been useful in a number of matches and Sokler is proving to be a good player which is why it's slightly baffling the lack of game time he's received. Miovski has been brilliant but he's looked tired after European exertions. Both Clarkson and Duncan haven't benefitted at all from the current formation. Robson has neglected the bench this season which has resulted in some strong European performances often followed by tired and lacklustre performances domestically. Robson's lack of belief in his overall squad could be his undoing. That, his unwillingness to alter his tactics when needed and lack of subs and/or often far too late subs. He comes with his frustrations.
  8. All things equal, we're a better side than Helsinki and really should have beaten them both times we've played each other. I hold the same sentiments towards the Hacken matches. However we didn't. I'm proud of our performances in Europe this season. We've come up against some good sides and had it not been for some dodgy officiating I honestly believe we'd still be in the fight for qualification going into the last match against Frankfurt. I really want to see more of Sokler. He made such a difference when he came on today. Given the lack of starts he's certainly sharp and Fast. I think he has the potential to fill the void left by Miovski (when sold). Duk is looking more like his former self too. I'm going to remain patient with Gueye however he's looked consistently shocking when he has played. There are time where he genuinely looks like he's never played football before. Jamie McGrath has been a brilliant signing. I'm already hoping we can extend his contract length. Same applies to Barron. Roos despite his kicking recently is another I hope stays beyond this season. He kept us in it during the first half with some good saves. MacDonald deserves more game time. I thought he looked solid especially considering he's barely played. So strange he's been frozen out the team given his heroics of last season. Unless he has been injured of course. Was pleased to see Robson actually use/rotate his squad. But why has it taken this long. Had he actually utilized his full squad up until this current stage of the season there's a probability that performances, results and league table placement would have looked more positive. Things should hopefully improve domestically once the European campaign is officially over. After Sunday's away match to Hibs, 5 of the next 6 matches in the league are at home in a period where every club is suffering from fixture congestion. There's an opportunity to climb the table. It's up to the players and Robson to seize it.
  9. Actually I'd agree. Roos was MOTM. He deserves credit for his performance today. Rubezic has certainly improved since his opening few games with us.
  10. Rubezic. Fantastic today. MOTM for me. Sokler looks a good player. Great assist for Miovski. Pleased to see McGarry back in the team. We've now played the Ugly sisters twice each and are still yet to play Dundee. Win our games in hand at home against Livingston and Dundee and capitalise when others are playing Celtic and The Rangers. We could potentially find ourselves in the top 3.
  11. Aberdeen FC announce profits of £1.1million in annual financial report as player sales see boost in coffers https://www.aberdeenlive.news/sport/football/football-news/aberdeen-fc-announce-profits-11million-8914813
  12. Yesterday's result and the performance were both shambolic and embarrassing. Irrespective of the opposition being Celtic and the financial gulf between the clubs. As we saw with Goodwin last season Cormack isn't trigger happy and will afford the opportunity to salvage the situation. After having lost 5-0 to Hearts Goodwin followed that up with further humiliating results such as the 6-0 lose to Hibs at Easter Road and the 1-0 defeat to Darvel. Arguably the worst Scottish cup result for a top flight side in Scottish football. Cormack's hand had been forced. I personally don't think Robson is currently close to being in a sackable position like Goodwin found himself in. He still has credit in the bank given the heroics of last season to achieve third spot. He's guided us to our first cup final since 2018/19. While some will say we haven't won a game in Europe this season we've also been drawn into a very tough group. I highly doubt any club outside the ugly sisters would have performed any better. I'm sure if we'd drawn opposition such as Riga we'd also secure a minimum of 6 points. Had VAR been utilized appropriately, we'd have beaten POAK at home and would still be competing for qualification from the group. Nevertheless we are out but I'm proud of our recent efforts in Europe given some of the opposition we've faced. We made a very good side in POAK look average. Same could be applied to Frankfurt (one club ranking behind Fiorentina whom reached the final last season) after our performance in Germany. I anticipate either POAK or Frankfurt to potentially go on and win the competition. Regarding the league. 11 matches into the campaign and we've only played 4 games at home (one of which was against Celtic). Admittedly this is delusional optimism on my part however IF we were to win the two postponed home games against Livingston and Dundee we could potentially find ourselves in 4th spot and within a point of third. This all despite competing on all fronts. The brutal truth is we as a club aren't equipped to do so. We haven't got the squad nor the finances. Questions need to asked of Robson as to why we have barely seen (or in some instances not at all) Dadia, Williams, Vinnie, MacDonald, Sokler, Gueye, Marshall and Milne. Especially given he's frequently found excusing his players due to tiredness. Hopefully he finally addresses his tactics/choice of formation after yesterday and changes it going forward. When we play the ball on the deck as shown against Motherwell away we are a decent side.
  13. Sadly you missed one. Our last trip to Parkhead, Robson's Aberdeen lost 5-0 in the final game of last season.
  14. Its alright, as you are fully aware, we lost 5-0 and 6-0 to both Edinburgh sides whilst being 11 points behind in February last season and still finished third.
  15. Robson has conceded 18 goals in his 4 matches against Celtic. That's absolutely stinking.
  16. We must have conceded the most goals of any opposition team to Celtic since the SPL formed in 1998. Truly embarrassing stuff. What a rancid performance. St Mirren put up a fight last weekend and we get annihilated today. Hope Cormack is making note of this.
  17. Shocking substitutions by Robson. Duk and Barron should have been brought on earlier. Was optimistically hoping to see us have a go at 2-0 down with nothing to lose. McGrath badly missed. We are short of another centre midfielderas it is. Shinnie hasn't got the legs to play twice a week.
  18. Roos' kicking has been poor this season. He's clearly being instructed to kick towards the sidelines but I can't recall a single time its worked this season. Robson needs to change that.
  19. This is going to be a long and miserable afternoon. Its actually embarrassingly bad. Not even going to bother continuing to watch this. Turned the telly off.
  20. Absolutely appalling defensively and tactically. Robson has us playing far too deep. No surprises we've conceded within the opening 10 mins.
