  1. It’s not a contradiction. You said the following: You are suggesting that people moaning about VAR are doing so just because it’s something new and we are not used to it. I’m stating that this is wrong. Certainly for me, anyway, my complaints are because I have experienced it long enough to form an opinion that I think it has made the game worse. Any issues with the application of VAR are likely to remain and won’t be fixed IMO. Your examples regarding substitutes seems a false equivalence because nobody is arguing against VAR just because it is new. It’s being complained about because we have experienced it and don’t like it.
  2. Wrong People are complaining about a new technology being used because it has set the game back. We are living through it and believe it has made the sport worse. It has nothing to do with resistance to change or not being progressing thinkers.
  3. I think you need to just accept that different people value different things than you. You asked a question and it was answered. You clearly value the need for a marginal increase in correct decisions higher than the match going experience Others clearly value the match going experience higher than the need for a marginal increase in correct decisions
  4. In my opinion, yes. Football is entertainment, and the product was more entertaining pre-VAR. if that meant having to contend with more “incorrect” decisions, then so be it. I’ve said this before, but I quite enjoyed discussing and moaning about contentious decisions in the aftermath of a game. Be that in the pub with my mates or online. Now, VAR has sucked some of the life out of the sport and has tempered any passion in celebrations a lot of the time.
  5. There wasnt a 5 hour delay on the decisions though, because pre-VAR, the referee’s onfield decision was final and was not impacted by replays shown on TV hours later. The match-going experience was far greater and they said they’d rather have that than what we have now. I agree. Football pre-VAR was much better, warts and all.
  6. It addresses the question you asked, which was: for all those who want to remove VAR, what do you want to go back to @Zamora Fanstated they’d go back to what we had pre-VAR, which I wholeheartedly agree with. Football, for me, was infinitely more enjoyable before VAR’s introduction.
  7. Aye, accidental or not, Miovski’s trip is a foul. I think the only instance of a potential offence not being punished is for accidental handball as the law states it needs to be deliberate (or deliberately making your body bigger) for it to be an offence.
  8. I think so. As much as Miovski hit it well, it wasn’t right in the corner and thought it probably should’ve been tipped over.
  9. I think Clancy can be offered a little leeway here for the penalty call in the sense that the ball hits Devlin’s hand on the side opposite from where Clancy is standing. I don’t think he can see clearly where the ball hits as Devlin’s body is blocking his view. I suppose you can argue his linesman could help him out but without a clear view of where the ball hits I think he’d be guessing to a degree.
  10. Another damning indictment for the Beale summer transfer window.
  11. Again, I don’t think it was terrible, just had a few issues. These are a couple of pictures I took of the game today. You can see just how churned up the goalmouth is and the patchy/muddy parts in the 18 yard box. Clement said in his interview before the game it wasn’t going to be pretty, so I’m not sure it’s just a case of him mentioning it because we never played well.
  12. Seemed really patchy and bare down at the corner where the North and West stand meet, the North stand goalmouth was churned up (couldn’t tell how the South stand goalmouth was) and the ball seemed to be quite bobbly across the pitch. It wasn’t terrible but it certainly wasn’t without its issues.
  13. Let’s be fair, the pitch wasn’t great, was it? Also, I’m not sure what he is making excuses for? Winning?
  14. Great to grind out the win, but that was a struggle. We were on the back foot for large parts of the game but a bit of quality from Lundstram to play in Dessers who, again, took his goal really well. Maybe a bit of a confidence player as he has done relatively well of late. The wind made it difficult for both teams, although I mostly felt sorry for the lads taking part in that halfway challenge at half time. A couple of them barely touched the ball and the wind had it flying past the centre spot
  15. Game will come too soon for new signing Diomande as we are still waiting on his Work Permit application being finalised. I think we will see two changes to the line up that started against Hibs with Goldson returning in place of Balogun and Dessers in from the start ahead of Matondo. This is assuming that Cantwell and Raskin are both fit to play after their knocks.
  16. Yep, I totally get that. And I should be clear, I’m not saying that criticism of a player doing TikTok’s is homophobic. I was more getting at those that do reference his sexuality in any comments.
  17. Of course you can, but it’s the homophobic abuse that you tend to see when he is getting criticised for doing his TikToks. Even on Instagram he got a lot of it after he used a filter on one of his posts. That’s a separate issue as to whether you believe he is a dick or not.
  18. Interesting signing with a high reported fee. There seems to be a good calibre of player that have come through the Right To Dream Academy so hopefully Diomande can be someone we can get good use out of for a couple of years before selling on. I think if we can bring in another forward before the deadline then we could almost be content with our business - my main worry is that the club thinks we can persevere with Dessers as our main goal threat until the end of the season. 5 goals and 4 assists in his last 8 but we really need another option.
  19. Jack Butland and Stuart Armstrong. Joe Shaughnessy though? Really? Never mind the fella, that kit is sexy.
  20. Aye, just a top class professional and a quality player. Over 300 appearances in the English top flight too and the most capped outfield player of all the home nations. Love him.
  21. On what basis has Sutton come to the conclusion that Cantwell has a high opinion of himself, though? Because, if we cast back to what Sutton previously said about him after he actually interviewed him… No criticism there over a “high opinion” of himself. Rather it was “intelligent, articulate, well spoken, driven”. Sutton even goes on to say that he needs a bit of arrogance about him! I wonder what has changed since? If he thinks he has a high opinion of himself because he does TikToks then surely the same logic applies to Kyogo.
  22. Nor do I search for them, but it’s the kind of stuff you see cropping up under articles or news stories about him. It was more a case of asking if Sutton would be consistent with criticism of footballers making TikTok videos now that Kyogo is in on the act rather than suggesting he shouldn’t be noising him up.
  23. Aye, but it’s not confined to TikTok. We’ve seen it all over Twitter and now a song being sung about him being a b*tty boy by fans. A quick search of Cantwell’s name with things like “p**f”, “gay”, “rent boy” etc will throw up a plethora of results. And that’s the thing, if Sutton genuinely believes that Cantwell making TikToks has any bearing on his footballing form/ability then he is less intelligent than I give him credit for. It was just a cheap dig at him as he knew fans would latch onto it.
