  1. Took you 5 mins to type that? How does it feel to be the brightest in East Ayrshire?
  2. Does make the dream!?! team of Brown and McGeady more interesting…
  3. Able to go to a bank if needed, or Smiths personal account, and show incoming cash to get a few players in to keep us up hopefully .
  4. Probably a Sunday afternoon on that joke channel (not the BBC).
  5. From BBC website: Ayr United have condemned "abuse both online and in stadiums over recent weeks" directed at Lee Bullen as they parted company with their head coach. They and Arbroath occupy the bottom two places after Saturday's 0-0 draw at Gayfield Park and Queen's Park's surprise win over leaders Raith Rovers. Former Sheffield Wednesday caretaker Bullen took charge in January 2022. Ayr chairman David Smith said the decision to part with the 52-year-old came "with real regret". Arbroath and Ayr battle to stalemate Pointing to the behaviour of some fans, he told his club website: "Nobody deserves any form of abuse, it is never justifiable and we urge supporters to challenge this type of behaviour whenever they see or hear it." Former Dunfermline Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday and Falkirk utility player Bullen had three spells as caretaker with the English club before taking charge at Somerset Park. He steered Ayr clear of relegation in his first six months in charge and led them to second place last season. However, they suffered a crushing 8-0 aggregate defeat by Partick Thistle in the promotion play-offs and, although they topped their League Cup group in a four-game unbeaten start to the season, Ayr have now won just once in 11 games in the second tier and needed extra time to defeat League 2 side Peterhead in the Scottish Cup. "Despite having the obvious challenge of recruiting a new midfield given injuries at the start of the season, ultimately on-field results over a sustained period of time have not been good enough and it is with real regret that we have come to this decision," Smith said. The Ayr chairman, though, added that "it is undeniable that the club is unrecognisable from the one Lee walked in to over two years ago and this is testament to his work throughout his time as head coach". Smith said Bullen had consistently met the club targets - including "generating a significant player sale for the first time in many years" - while the relationship with the club's academy "has never been stronger". Ayr, who have already started the search for a new team boss, next host third-tier Kelty Hearts in the cup fourth round on Saturday.
  6. Yes, this! When commentators say “the ball just about got over the line” or “just about kept it in”. It either did or it didn’t. End of.
  7. Having had a season ticket for 35 years or so I’ll admit I’ve just not bothered for the last 4 home games. Probably a roll up of reasons including the North Terrace being shut which means when I take my boy we have to sit in the family stand, which I hate, or the SRE where he can’t see anything unless we are at the front, which is sh!t. Also the thought of watching teams walk all over us, lack of goals, lack of leadership, lack of any improvement over the last few years and the general apathy hanging around the place makes turning up on a Saturday, and it really pains to say it, a chore. I’ve bought more Ayr tops this season than seen wins. We are a soft touch at the moment which is why teams like Morton and ICT must wish they could play us every week. Under McCall I remember other teams moaning that we roughhoused them if needed. I don’t think this team has it in them. Worrying that our best players aren’t ours other than Stanger and Murphy. The players are obviously still playing for Bullen as you don’t get results like Raith and Dunfermline if there’s no fight but unless there are a few new faces in during January it looks like we are sleep walking back to the seaside league.
  8. Taxi for Adam’s back to Morecambe. Funny watching him say his team were far superior whilst ALL the stats on screen as he was ranting told the opposite.
  9. Thursday night’s comedy night. Only 4 more shows before end of series.
  10. It’s a strange one with Ferguson. He’ll either do great keeping ICT up, being declared a success maybe leading to a job in the west of Glasgow or lead them down killing his managerial intentions forever. I’m voting number one as it may save our club*. *Might not.
  11. Agree it would be grim but there’s a massive lack of parking space since the Kyle car parks shut.
  12. In October 1998, due to Clydebank's growing financial difficulties, Teale was sold to Ayr United for a fee of £70,000, a signing described by McCall as "a Christmas bargain in October."[13] Although there was interest from several English clubs, Teale opted to remain in Scotland as he felt he was not yet ready to leave his home country.[14] He made his debut in a 2–0 win against St Mirren,[15] and scored his first goal for the club on his home debut two weeks later in a 4–2 win against Falkirk.[14] He played a pivotal role in a 3–0 Scottish Cup victory at home to local rivals Kilmarnock in 1999, winning a late penalty which was converted by Andy Walker, a goal that has gone down in history due to the humiliating manner in which Gordon Marshall the Kilmarnock goalkeeper was beaten. Wigan Athletic This section needs expansion. You can help by adding to it. (February 2011) In 2001, Teale signed for Wigan Athletic for an initial fee of £275,000, which rose to £400,000 due to subsequent additional payments. Copied from Wiki. Didn’t realise we got as much for Teale or that McCall sold him to us.
  13. Two ex Ayr players scoring in Europe tonight. Pretty decent team of ex players still playing I’d guess.
  14. No you’re right. Seeing thousands of Ayr fans celebrating their first ever national cup win would be proper shit. Stay away.
  15. Ah you guys are missing my point. I’ll support Ayr as I have blindly as I have for over 35 years. Not matter what league they’re in I’ll be there. All I’m saying is it would be pretty nice to win a trophy, even if it’s a diddy diddy diddy trophy. I would quite like Colin to leave the conversation.
  16. So you’re happy for Ayr to go for another hundred years winning less than Stranraer and Stenhousemuir? If you are I believe there’s a place for you near the Ayr hospital…
  17. Listen it’s fine if some of you are all fine for Ayr to never have won any cup or top league. Bugs me. You guys are waaaay cool with that then more power to you. And for folk to say they’re happy for us to piss about in winnable competitions, I just don’t get it.
  18. Ayr trouble is there’s plenty of teams in Scotland over the last 33 years who have won a cup. It’s embarrassing to have never won a cup in over 110 years and yet consider ourselves a reasonably big club.
  19. Football is all about winning trophies. Kane left Spurs to win silverware. Honestly can’t believe the small town mentality of winning the seaside league.
