  1. It’s got to be Morrison by a country mile for me. Already on 21 goals from right wing and could well overtake Lyle Taylor.
  2. Personally I thought Mackie played well. He also showed why McGlynn has been giving players an opportunity- players will pick up injuries and suspensions and you can’t then be throwing in replacements who have never played for 3 months.
  3. I still don’t think a 2 year extension was required in the circumstances for Nesbitt. Clearly he has done well this season but how many times have we been stuck with players on extended deals contributing very little? I’d have given him 1 year with a 1 year option.
  4. Clearly we don’t need a rebuild, but we will require additional quality imo given we will be facing a significantly higher level of opposition over the season. Have to say extending Oliver is a strange one if budget is limited given he is not going to start games.
  5. I’m not sure there’s room for Shanley as well as Oliver tbh. I’d be looking to use the wages elsewhere.
  6. I’d like to have seen a new signing come in to challenge Nesbitt for that number 10 spot, with one of them being on the bench.
  7. Looks like Oliver has been signed up for next season. Wasn’t desperate to see him moved on but I do think the money could maybe have been used for another option in that position given he hasn’t been good enough to start in league 1, so I’m not convinced he’ll pull up trees a league up. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/gary-oliver-agrees-new-falkirk-32407464
  8. Not had a huge amount of have time but hasn’t really been able to influence any of the games he has played imo
  9. True he hasn’t started a huge number but he has been involved in every game this season so he has had an opportunity.
  10. Ross has looked decent for us but has really lacked end product. Personally I think the money would be better spent elsewhere if he’s after a big wage to sign for us.
  11. Not really about picking holes. The championship will be a step up and it’s perfectly reasonable to discuss where we will need better quality best season. McGlynn will be doing the same.
  12. 8 is hardly earth shattering though given he’s started virtually every game for a team that is 17 points clear with 67 goals scored.
  13. Interesting stats- thanks for sharing. Nesbitt’s return isn’t great considering he’s started nearly every game this season at number 10. Personally I would like another option to compete with him for that position next season. It may be worth giving Oliver a run of games there to see if he could be that player.
  14. Yes, but that 8 could very quickly be eaten up by the current squad if we’re not careful. If we offer contracts to Hogarth, Mackie, Yeats, Tait, Ross, Oliver and Shanley, you are down to 1 new addition to what’s currently in the building. We will need more than that to challenge at the top end imo.
  15. Agreed- there’s no point them sitting in the stand here so I guess they’ll probably go back out on loan (hopefully to a higher level).
  16. I like Oliver and think he is a good option at this level. However, imo we will need better quality next season than fringe players who have ultimately not been good enough to start in league 1. I also would like another option at number 10, which is realistically where Oliver would be playing as I don’t see it being upfront. We have 19 players in the squad as it stands so I don’t see us signing another 8 players if this season’s fringe players are retained.
  17. Bit of a strange game with us not at our best. In saying that, we deserved the win. Tait looks like a good option in midfield. Shanley didn’t do much wrong but again struggled to really influence the match. Maybe slightly harsh in some of the fringe players, but I do still think we need to move the likes of Oliver on if we have aspirations of competing at the top end of the championship. He would go with my best wishes though as he has made an important contribution.
  18. It’s hardly a peripheral building- it will be an important asset for the foundation and the club imo, particularly as the academy gradually scales up. No cost-effective or affordable way has been found to build a fourth stand in the 21 years we have been at TFS, so we certainly shouldn’t be delaying a valuable project for what remains a pipe dream.
  19. Clearly any talk of a rebuild is nonsense- we have the basis of a good side for next season. However, it will be a step up and we will require additional quality in a number of positions imo. Long, McKay, McGinn and Lawal will be leaving. Personally I also wouldn’t be retaining Mackie, Oliver or Shanley and would look to move Allan on. We will then need imo a GK, RB, CB, LB, CM (possibly Tait), no 10 and ST. I would consider offering Ross a deal but would want to see a lot more from him first.
  20. I agree on the rotation point. To me, there is no point in having a squad if you can’t use it. Players will lose form and pick up injuries/suspensions over the season and it’s no good if there replacements haven’t played for months. A good example is the 13/14 H*lt season. Our starting 11 was probably the best we had for many years with the likes of McGovern, Kingsley, Duffie, Millar, Sibbald, McGrandles and Loy. However, we fell short of the title largely imo because we only had the likes of Durojaiye or untried youngsters on the bench.
  21. Maciver will be ok as a squad player but we will need a striker with better finishing and hold up play imo. Shanley hasn’t had much game time but has had very little impact in the matches he has played, so not sure I’d be triggering the option on him.
  22. Well deserved win. Totally dominated the game and limited Cove to very few chances. Donaldson and Hendo were solid and Tait did well in midfield. Mackie was good at left back. Thought Spencer was uncharacteristically sloppy. Ross got into good positions but again had limited end product at times. Maciver needs to be more clinical.
  23. Lang will be a miss. Odd one dropping Miller unless he is injured.
  24. Agree- very little contribution from him in terms of end product so far.
