A few things I’ve noticed from the start of the season until now.

We are playing more direct/long balls than we did last season. And I don’t think it’s to our advantage.

The higher up the leagues you go, the less games where you will get plenty of chances. Passing up 3 very good 1st half chances yesterday is going to hurt.

The higher up the leagues you go, the more pace you are going to face. We got burned yesterday on the break twice and it cost two goals which killed the game. We don’t seem to have much pace at the back.

Playing a 3 in midfield with McNab as the most attacking of the 3 doesn’t work. He has plenty of energy and effort but surely he would be better sitting a bit deeper and let Barjonas play off the forwards? Hopefully Lyon’s starts next week as he looked decent.

We seem to miss a proper defensive midfielder. Andy Black did a pretty under appreciated job at times last season.

Very much missing Higgy, hopefully he is back soon. We also need a wide attacker to give us options. Cardle has some energy but surely he can’t do that week in week out for 90 mins.

I noticed last season that it was quite often the case that teams were getting through our midfield a bit too easily. It was not a big problem as Kelty were head and shoulders above the rest, but that isn't the case this season due to the better quality of the sides in League 1. I would prefer to see a more defensive system used, maybe 4-5-1 in an attempt to make it more difficult for teams to score against us.

Going to be a long season if this continues , can’t go from a championship winning team to lacklustre drivel in space of 6 weeks surely 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

It can't be easy for the manager to get the players used to his style of play due mainly to injuries and the on-going addition of players. Would like to see how the team do if and when they get a settled side and are then used to the new way of playing.

Highlights show just how many chances we had albeit a few were half baked. Higgy & Austin back will make a difference then a couple of signings & we'llbe fine. Top 4 at best this season I think but I'd happily take that.

I would be delighted with top 4, but I would also be happy if it was mid-table this season, then build for a higher target next season. Do you think the Championship is a realistic target for Kelty, or would you be happy to be an established League 1 team?

Plenty chances and none taken again. Becoming trend.

Peggie & McNab in the first 11 still which won't work at this level. Missing Higgy massively. We need a few first 11 signings still. Only Martin so far that's actually a starter.

Agree with all of the above. Played well in patches, and created enough chances to win but it wasn't to be. Thought the officials were very poor, and the linesman was wrong to flag Doherty's goal as being offside as it was the  Edinburgh keeper that had the last touch before Doherty netted.

Centre half's filling up the treatment room 🤣 We did well considering and the young lad Cameron will have learned a lot from that today.

Beginning to think that there's a curse on Kelty players! Just about as many injured players as there are fit ones!

Best I've seen McNab play in a Kelty shirt. As much as I've been critical of his ability to play at this level he's was excellent and I'd be happy to be proven wrong longer term.

Doherty was on trial at QPR late last year before injury. Hopefully another diamond 💎

He always gives 100%, but he did struggle at times, but the manager's maybe found his best position. I hope so as his commitment could never be questioned no matter where he was played.

Just watched highlights from cove game. Some nice football getting played. 3rd goal was very nice 👍🏻 also I see we have just signed Kyle Doherty. Another option up top. Still feel a few more signings to beef up the squad would be braw! On a side note I feel mcnab is starting to find a bit of a game. Looking better

It was much more like a Kelty performance  Doherty looks like a decent signing, hope he fits in well. It could be that McNab was playing in his best position, he certainly made some excellent passes.

Needed that win tonight for a confidence boost man! Glad Alfie bagged a goal, though he done well against Albion. Did everything bar score! Is higgy injured the now? Missed last 2….

Big improvement from Saturday and a well deserved win. Hope the club are able to bring in some bodies before the league starts though.

Yip Austin n Alfie pretty wasteful up front imo today , would put Austin on the bench as think Alfie plays better without him , back to a 4/3/3 as well as that served the same guys much better last season , also Martin better at LB than RB but what do I know

sore one today but fair play to Albion

    Mon Kelty

It's still early in the season but today was a bit concerning. I agree that Aggy should play the number 9 role and Barjo should play a true number 10 as it's his best position.  I also agree that Martin should be left back with a right back being brought in.  Probably could do with a workhorse in midfield to complement Tids. Having said all that Kelty should have won, but today's performance won't win many games in League 1, however there's time yet. Onwards and upwards!

Aye played well mate , thought Peggie did well today, no real options off the bench at the moment but with Austin , Philp and Cardle all missing from the squad probably just got enough till we get some loans in or make the proper good signings we need

Good to hear that Forster got the mom accolade today, he and O'Ware have been outstanding against the three full-teams. Felt a bit sorry for Higgy today as not only did he have to play out of position, but he also had to face a barrage of high balls thrown at him with the disadvantage of being several inches shorter than Caley's central defenders! He put in a terrific shift though. It does highlight the need for a back up forward for Austin. Next Saturday should give us a good idea as to how the team's shaping up. Looking forward to it already!

Cracking goal from Alfie. He shows flashes of being unplayable at times, needs consistency though.

It was, it looks like he's come on a bit over the close season but he's still got a fair bit to go until he reaches that consistency. He could be a big player for us this season though. Thought Lewis Martin looked excellent at left back, it would make sense to me to play him there regularly as he was so good, but it's not me that's picking the team! Thought MacNab and Philp played better on Saturday, would either of them be okay at right back in League 1?

    This is mental.

Some of the comments from people who didn’t attend is comical.

Raith dominated with spells of good football.

Nowhere near enough of a clinical edge to us, a repeat of last season at this stage but it’s friendlies.

    Brown looked comfortable at CB

Dick looked fine at CB and Young was good on the left.

Our trialist based on that performance ain’t up to the level. Either not wanting to be injured, couldn’t get up to the pace or simply isn’t good enough.

The number 22 for them looked classy and easily of championship level, who was he?

I wouldn’t write off Gullan, what is he 24 today not in his prime and might just surprise a few.

No need for wet knickers but we need a CB and a striker.

Agyemang. He has come on leaps and bounds since last season, I reckon he'll be a big player for Kelty this season.

Martin has a terrific attitude and the ability to match it when he’s fully fit. Injuries have really held him back though, feels like he hasn’t had a proper run of games since he hit the form of his life between the end of 2018/19 and early stages 19/20.

Hope he gets a full preseason and has a brilliant career, boy deserves it.

He started at left back today and he played very well. Moved to right back in the second half and was less effective time although he still played well. Hope he is played at left back as his main position this season.

Most teams will cause us problems, it's how we deal with it is the issue that needs to be resolved.

FFS, every pre season I see the same shite written on here, peeps the results in pre season DON'T FUCKING MATTER !!, it's all about getting the players match fit for competitive games.

100% Murray has his eye one a few players but it's all about picking the right ones, not just anyone ala Mendy and Keatings

It's written because it's true! Pre-season matches ARE all about getting match fit. You don't get any points or medals for winning them.

That's not true at all. I thought they were pretty poor. Easily worse than QoS were on Wednesday.

Kelty are a part-time team hoping to be about mid-table in League 1 this coming season.  Raith Rovers are a full-time looking to reach the Campionship play-offs, so yes Kelty SHOULD look poor in comparison to the Rovers. Although the latter should have won, Kelty caused them  a fair few problems, and that was without two of their best players in Cardle and Tidser.

Credit to the Glens, when I seen the Kelty team I never expected the result to be as close as it was.

You can’t look into the scoreline too much, but Kelty need to strengthen.

What is the objectives this season? Mid table?

If you want to be play offs I think you are around 4-5 players short.

Are you guys happy with the John Potter appointment? Was surprised you never went for someone else. But time will tell weather or not that is the correct decision.

    Good luck for the season.

The Glens played well, Kelty approached it a bit too casually. Kelty played well against Partick Thistle so there's no need for doom and gloom, but yes, they are a bit short and I'm sure that players will be coming in. I always believe that fans should back any new manager coming in and give him a fair chance. The club seem happy to have signed him so I hope he succeeds in achieving what the club are aiming for this coming season.

I think that's what is encouraging. There is a good base there with Jamieson, Forster and O'Ware. There is a good No 9, good support and there are midfielders to come back. They severely need more bodies though.

Agreed, hopefully the squad will be in place by the time the league starts.
