😀😀 It isn’t the most glamorous for them but at least another possible win playing a lower end Premiership side.

St. Mirren will start strong favourites tbh, all Kelty can do is to put in a shift as they always do, as that will at least give them a bit of a chance.

Spot on neeb , thought big Agy gave the defence a totally different problem when he came on as well , two full backs were brilliant but for me the energy and commitment from Higgy is what keeps everyone else on it

He definitely did, the St. Johnstone defence found it difficult to handle him and he was unfortunate not to have scored. Just need to follow up Saturday's performance with a win at Elgin on Tuesday.

They've hardly been skooshing leagues, at least not until this season.

Titles have been far from certain:

East of Scotland League 2017-18     trailed by 1pt entering last day

Lowland League 2019-20    had still to play Bonnyrigg and BSCG away when season was abandoned (having drawn at home to BSCG)

Lowland League 2020-21     had not played any of Bonnyrigg, BSCG or East Stirlingshire when season was abandoned (having lost at home to East Kilbride)

It was never the intention for Kelty to "skoosh" any league, they joined the Senior ranks to climb the pyramid to the highest level that they could realistically reach, and that level is getting close imho. They have been fortunate to have been given the Lowland League title, but knowing Kelty they would have much rather preferred to have all the games played, but that wasn't possible.

I don’t see a lot of difference. They’ve spent way beyond their income on players who are far better than the level they are playing at as a way of guaranteeing they skoosh whatever league they’re in.

Fair enough if there’s a grand plan, but there was at Gretna as well until the owner got seriously ill then died.

Fair play to them, they’re not the first and they won’t be the last, and it’s great for the local community. The good thing for kelty is they have their own stadium to watch their team in right now, something which Mileson had planned but was never done.

The big difference is that Kelty know in advance when the sponsor is pulling out. I would say that they would be able to survive at League 1 or 2 level on their own. Kelty have always been a club that have very active committees, so I don't anticipate there being a crash as per Gretna.

Was the same with us at the end of JR reign.

If you bin CD, you can expect the same fuckin stupid backlash from Tom English etc "what do Saints fans want? He won them 2 cups" "know your place"  etc etc

All from fannies that dont actually ever pay to watch the same shite we pay £300/£400 a year for............

A new ground for Saints fans to visit after we were denied the chance in last year’s league cup group stage.

I hope we put up a good fight to retain our cup, but the way we are playing will have many Saints fans going into this with major concern about a shock defeat.

The hope is we look back at the early posts on this thread in a months time when we’ve signed 4-5 ballers in early January and laugh at any worries we had.

Is it fair to say Kelty are another Gretna, and should be despised accordingly?

It isn't fair to say that Kelty are another Gretna.  The plan is for the backer to pull out in a couple of season's time, as it's expected that the club will be stable enough to exist in the SPFL under it's own steam.

Gotta be the biggest and best win in clubs history , fully deserved yesterday   The spirit it that team is bloody awesome fought like dogs for each other yesterday

someone posted on FB last night it was 5 year to the day we beat HoB 4 -0 I the junior cup (what a day that was) and now look at us , aye we’ve spent cash to get here (which successfull team hasn’t ) but journey into the EoS , LL and now SPFL has been phenomenal and no matter how much cash gets chucked at something you’ve gotta have good leadership from the top down and Deans vision of where he seen us going to the committee to the appointments of managers Tam got it all going , Barry let’s face it attracted a better quality of player to our club and KT has just taken us a step higher again so thank you so much as never expected or thought I’d see us at this level ever

We don’t have a lot of history as is pointed out and we are just a play toy for a rich man according to some but History is there to be made and we are creating a little of our own ♥️♥️

It's one of these games that will live long in the memory, as will that goal! Not fair perhaps to single anyone out but Forster and O'Ware were awesome in the centre of defence, and what a difference having Philp and Barjonas back in the midfield again. Should really mention the manager as he got the tactics spot on. An amazing day all round.

Well yeah, I wasn't saying it to insult Kelty tbh, and wasn't sure how to word it.

St Mirren are a competent top flight side with an idea of how to break sides down, so I think they'll beat Kelty comfortably if your performance yesterday is matched.

You more than deserved to beat us and it shouldve been more by the end.

I see, so apologies for my nippy response. There's no doubt that your team should have won, but I couldn't believe how poor the Saints were at times during the match and this allowed Kelty to have much more possession that they should have had. It's likely to be a different story against St. Mirren.

Think we need a settled back 4 personally I would rather see Philp at right back and Peggie left back as they are our players instead of giving loanees the game time, bring them on as subs if needed , Oware n Forster are good enough together but I  think Hoopers  better with the ball than Forster so ?
I think DJ is a decent keeper but just doesn’t command his area imo so I personally think good old fashioned nut job of a keeper is required to complement the defence 😁

I agree that we could be better at full back on both sides. It definitely doesn't help that we haven't had a settled back  four all season for a variety of reasons.

Nice to see Joe Cardle doing well at yourselves,   was he signed to replace Easton,

The magic man is ripping it I in League 1 for us,   was hearing last preseason Eason wasn't offered a contract by Kelty was this anything sinister or just a player moving on.

Easton left for full time football as far as I know. He was very good for Kelty, but Joe Cardle has been much, much better.

Good to get a game in and get a convincing win too after the Annan defeat. Also good to have O'Ware and Reilly fit again. Onwards and upwards!

You can't go upwards. Surprisingly you've been top since week 1

    League 1?

Barron has a chance of making it as a full time pro. Next couple of years important for him to see if he can make it at the dons or not.

Gutted to hear that he's gone, he was outstanding at Kelty and he was a pleasure to watch. He'll be missed. I hope he goes on to do great things.

Unsure. O'Ware should be back Sunday which significantly strengthens us!

He definitely will, but we haven't really had a settled back four this season due to a variety of reasons, and that's why I think that it could be a defender, but I could be wrong of course.

Reads the 29th on the announcement?

The email I got was about season ticket holders who should decline if they're not going to the game to allow the maximum tickets for selling to non season ticket holders, and it said that these tickets were being sold on Tuesday the 29th, so it's a bit confusing.
