Yeah that’s the one I mean. Stewart got his toe to it first?

The one I'm talking about isn't showing in the highlights. At the end of the day it's irrelevant as it wasn't given plus Arbroath were more than worthy winners. Hope you have a good season in the Championship. I think Kelty will do okay in League 2, some say they will stroll the league but I tend not to believe that, mid-table or maybe a play-off place at a push seems the most likely outcome imho.

Watch the highlights back, there’s a slowed down version of the penalty claim. Looks pretty clear to me that Stewart got his toe to it after watching

Different incident. Austin through on the goalie, Arbroath defender went through him from the back.

Man Bun (Mcnab) is actually a centre mid which confirms your point on work needed on the back 4! Andy Black at RB doesn't work for me either. Hooper will play there when available and Philp should be the backup. We are pretty good on the highlights and streaming front. Was impressed with yours too.

Thought the game turned on Arbroath's first goal. Their heads were down a bit when they lost the second goal, but not only did their first goal bring them back into the game, it also gave them a massive boost and their tails were up for most of the rest of the match. Thought their penalty was a bit soft, and Kelty should have had one when Nathan Austin was brought down from the back towards the end. I was in line with the tackle and it looked a stonewaller. Having said all of that Arbroath deserved to win, but overall Kelty competed well in their section, and I look forward to the league campaign starting next week

Thistle took it as a friendly, had it been competitive it would have been an easy away win

Both teams took it for what it was intended, and that was  getting the players game time before the competitive matches kick in. I don't think that many Thistle players were strolling through the game thinking that they could score at will, but I agree that if it was a competitive match then the full-time team would prevail, but perhaps not as easily as you say. Having said all that I enjoyed the game thoroughly and I hope that the Jags have an excellent season in the Championship.

Took his goal well tbf then missed an absolute belter of a sitter, open goal from around 6 yards out and he fell on his arse.

The trialist at centre back was woeful probably should’ve sent off within 5 minutes for taking down Austin when he was clean through and he just never settled or recovered after that. Similar to the first half thought Graham and Turner were your 2 best players and was impressed with MacIver as well but he did look a lot better through the middle rather than wide right.

Was a decent enough game for the most part that you guys probably should’ve won more comfortably.

I don't necessarily agree that Thistle should have won more comfortably than they did, I thought that there wasn't that much between the teams on the day.  However it was only a warm up match for the season ahead, and I think that both teams will be happy at getting game time in the player's legs, especially as they both made sure that as many subs as possible got some game time.

Good article Zen. I grew up in the council houses at the bottom of the Binn Hill and we regularly took the 10 minute walk up to the village to play in amongst the remnants of the houses. That would have been the early to the mid 60's and quite a lot of the houses were identifiable at that time, but that's certainly not the case now. Good luck to the Rovers for the coming season, I am looking forward with relish to watching Kelty in the SPFL.

Really friendly bunch in the pubs there. Last time I visited I was told to get out or there would be trouble. So nice of them to warn me.

I had to go into a rough looking pub in the village to collect my ticket for a testimonial match, and yes it did go a bit quiet and I was aware of them all watching me, they then starting cracking jokes and having a laugh with me, so they can't all be bad.

Pre season friendlies against Gala (at Womersley's Folly, yeh!) on 26th June, Bonnyrigg at New Dundas on 29th June and...err.. Rangers B in Glasgow on 3rd July.

Are we taking the Arsecheeks' Shilling with that last one....? :whistle

    Tut tut.

IIRC Binnend Rangers were from the long gone Binn Village in Burntisland located just to the north of the golf club house.

The village was populated by the shale workers, the works being located just over the road from the golf course. The village itself was on the lower slopes of the Binn hill. Some small parts of the houses can still be seen to this day. The football team regularly beat the townspeople of Burntisland in the annual football match.

The way things are now with promotion/relegation between the LL and level 6 that might be a very long wait, over a decade IMO.

Edit: also I think you are taking it for granted that Kelty won't ever be returning to the LL.

My comments were tongue in cheek made as a wee dig back at Braveheart Dad's comments, there wasn't anything serious in them.

I would actually like to see Bonnyrigg in the SPFL, they would be a good addition to it.

And no, I'm not taking it for granted that Kelty won't ever be back in the LL, don't think anyone is.

I thought we were ok and kept the ball reasonably well but definitely lacked a bit of quality in the final third, I thought we could have pushed Brechin more in the last half an hour as it looked like they had dropped a yard or so and were tiring, but I  suppose you can be in two minds at that point on if you should make sure you take a lead up to Brechin or go for it at home to get a third and maybe leave yourself open.

For the neutral it's a good result for sunday with the game on a knife edge.

From the stats I seen last night there was zero offsides, is that not unusual for a game of football at this level? I was right behind the lino at the south end and the brechin players were complaining to him about offsides but he called them all correctly from what I seen(and  hewas happy to tell the Brechin defenders who was playing the kelty man on). Their line at times was pretty poor, kelty couldn't seem to take advantage of it. NA seems to like to get a run on the defender from deep in a foot race so starts deeper rather on the shoulder(worked well in the past tbf)

There's no doubt that Kelty were the better side especially in the first half. I agree that they could have been better in the last third, but still created a fair few chances. Brechin improved in the second half but they did tire in the last 15 or 20 minutes. I still think that Kelty will prevail if they can take their chances. Chuffed that Ross Philps got the man of the match award.

Aren’t all the Brechin players from the glasgow area and central belt? They’ll all be getting punted/moved on if Brechin lose.

Brechin results have been much tighter recently, I think Kelty will find it tougher than they think.

With the experience that the Kelty management have they will be well aware of the decent results that Brechin had towards the end of their season. I can't see kelty taking Brechin lightly at all.

My reckoning is a bigger win for Kelty than that against Brora.

I would expect the Brechin players to fight tooth and nail to maintain their place in the SPFL. They will be aware that if they drop out of League 2 they will find it difficult to get back up again, so Kelty can't afford to be over confident. I would also expect Kelty to be right up for this tie though, so it could be close. I have been lucky enough to have obtained a ticket for tomorrow's match and I am looking forward to it immensely. I bought a season ticket last summer but was only able to use it a handful of times due to the virus, but tomorrow will make up for all the matches that I couldn't gain entry for. I just hope that all of the diehard Kelty fans were able to get a ticket too.
