  2. I agree Alexander coming back without any vote to advise the board given his reputation with the fans was suspect. I had actually pointed that out at the time. Not an owner so can’t see anything on other forums but every interaction iv had with Alexander had been positive and he’s been dead on. I just disagree with the way he wants to run the club and went about some thing in his chairmanship
  3. Just wanted to stop by and pass my condolences the fans of Pollok. Was pretty shocked at the news of them having money trouble as been to see them a few times over the years and always had great crowds and good players. Hopefully it gets sorted soon and there will be many a game at newlandsfield to come, think it’s a cracking wee ground. It’s never nice to see clubs in financial trouble but with the cost of living and expenses in football these days I can see how it can happen.
  4. You may know more than me and have been closer to the whole thing than me but outside looking in it was handled poorly. The whole plan should have been put out with transparency on who was filling what role. Anything else and it was dead in the water. Some people on the board have been around for ages and folk won’t get rid of them without knowing who they are getting into bed with. Agree no point arguing about it, the whole club needs gutted and rebuilt from top to bottom. We have no identity and when fans turn like they have it rarely ends well.
  5. It’s well documented in this thread I believe. They also didn’t present any plan once the letter was submitted. A lot of wait and sees, the whole thing was a shambles. I’d love to see Thomson and especially Taylor leave, but I’d like to know who’s going to step up first
  6. That’s not entirely true is it? They got pushed away because of who was pulling the strings.
  7. As I said before there is a real loser’s mentality and a rot right through the club. Very similar to when Brechin went down. That’s it over as far as I’m concerned it’s play off time.
  8. It’s all becoming a bit too predictable eh. Absolutely have to win next week or that’s it as good as done I reckon
  9. I don’t think you understand how the pyramid works if you think the lowland league is only a step up from amateurs.
  10. From the outside looking in Forfars biggest problem seems to be putting the ball in the net. They have signed Russell McLean to fix this issue but I’m not sure he’s the answer for them. Defensively they have the 5th best record in the league and far superior to ourselves, Elgin and Stranraer ( 15 goals better off than ourselves!)and only a couple goals worse off than Peterhead and Dumbarton who occupy the top 4.Due to the fact that they have such a good defensive record I’d be inclined to say they will pick up more points than us, especially when we have a keeper basically conceding every shot they face at the moment, no matter how good the players in front of them you simply need your keepers to make saves when needed. If their defensive record collapses and worsens then I can see them getting dragged into it. In my opinion I think it’s more likely to come down to us and Stranraer considering Elgin seem to have sorted themselves out a bit and have a good home record
  11. Aye but could he do it on a cold rainy night away against Lesmahagow
  12. We haven’t had a quality full back in about 5 year and we have a keeper that is throwing goals in at the moment but the solution is apparently to sign a near 35 year old striker from the 9th tier of Scottish football who would bury the club and any chance of a new home Gammon gunna gammon man
  13. We are very much primed for the flush. I said I’d reasses at the end of the window and after the game tonight and we are stinking. There is a real losers mentality and something absolutely rotten at the core of the club, very similar to when Brechin went down. No away wins in about 18 months with no sign of that changing. Tonight just shows how important having a competent goalkeeper is, competent keepers win you points and we have 2 jobbers in the most important part of the pitch. Not having had a good full back in 5 odd years hasn’t helped us either. Sick of it man. We are going down. We won’t win a playoff
  14. Recently had a stint at Cork City that didn’t really go that well for him. Saw a few of their fans saying they felt he had a bit of a problem in properly applying himself and had a bit of an ego to put it lightly. Would imagine he’s back with the intent of looking for full time football in the summer and McCall won’t have any trouble motivating him and bringing him back down to earth if required. Hes obviously lightyears ahead of what we have and if he can show the form he had earlier in his career he will easily be one of the best players in the league
  15. Are you telling me you don’t think Clyde would bring back a player who was previously deemed not good enough months ago? As I said above I don’t want him back but you can just see it happening.
  16. Just for clarity, I’m not endorsing or even want Clyde to sign MacDonald. You can absolutely see it happening but
  17. Olly MacDonald released by Stranraer yesterday. Can see him being a last minute panic buy if some other options fall through. Wouldn’t be a bad player to come off the bench maybe?
  18. I knew David Goodwillie would get brought up the longer we didn’t sign a player, was expecting it a bit later in the window to be honest or from another teams supporter trolling the thread. We absolutely under no situation should even discuss the idea of bringing him back. There’s plenty of strikers who could score goals at this level but here you are making a case to bring back someone who would put the final nail in the clubs reputation ( if the debacle 2 years ago didn’t already), whilst we are looking for a new home off a council none the less. Need to ask why even mention him at all? He left 2 years ago it’s time for everyone to move on, it’s seriously getting embarrassing now. Id genuinely rather play in the lowland league than resort to bringing him back.
  19. It looks like Zanatta and Duffy have been big targets for us and we have missed out. I’d imagine after this round of Scottish Cup fixtures when teams know a wee bit better their financial prospects and squad sizes needed we could maybe see some movement. Another thing to consider is that a lot of teams might be keeping cards close to their chest until the window ends. A team won’t let go of a 3rd or 4th choice striker until they know they are replaced in January. I agree that the talk has been very robust in that we are definitely getting in 7 or 8 bodies and I feel like that is in response to previous poor recruitment, trying to acknowledge mistakes and appear that with Maitland and McCall we have strong football men leading the club. It may prove to be very foolhardy in the end. The panic button has been primed but not pressed yet
  20. You could very well be right and time will tell. The reason I thought it would have been the hockey centre and not a cage or a plot of land was the 2-3 year timeline for the development. Given Clyde’s financial situation and the timelines I would have thought that it would be somewhere with the bones in place rather than somewhere needing built from the ground up, I just feel like that would be a larger financial outlay than renovating somewhere. The other thing was how quickly the focus shifted after Crownpoint, considering it was implied that all the eggs were in that basket either that wasn’t strictly true or something else became available shortly after or round about the decision coming in. Interesting times ahead, fwiw I was at Petershill at the weekend and the facility that they have would be good for Clyde if we can get something similar, doesn’t need to be anything fancy just something functional with good transport links.
  21. Will obviously need to wait and see but I don’t think the hockey centre is as ready for league football as you might think at first glance. I’d imagine it’s got good bones but the site in general will need redevelopment to get it ready for a good number of people turning up every week for the forseeeable
  22. Stepford isn’t the only option. Glasgow Life said it doesn’t currently have the money available to re open the hockey centre stadium down at Glasgow Green. I’d imagine it’s a good option for us with it having a lot of the infrastructure in place. We would need to rip out the pitch and place Astro or turf mind you
  23. If you take into account the signings of Hamilton, Leitch and Howie that were announced before the window then we are already halfway there in terms of the new bodies that were due to come in. I reckon we will sign another 3 or 4 in this window and then we will be done, I don’t think we will be bringing in 7 this window on top of those 3.
  24. On the footballing side, Saturday is encouraging and goes to show what having guys who have been about this level and can still get about the park gets you. Guys like Forbes and P Grant aren’t good enough anymore and shouldn’t have been here in the first place. A few more of that level of signing in the correct areas of the park and there is no reason we can’t get off the bottom spot. Stranraer have 7 more points than us and have scored 1 more goal and conceded the same amount as us. Elgin have a worse goal difference than us. Forfar struggle to score but are better at the back than us. Its fine margins down at the bottom end with a lot of football to play, obviously come end of Jan we will have a better picture but it’s 5 points with half a season to make it up. We have the best manager in the division and a board looking to back him. It’s not over yet.
  25. The issue with King is that he is a bit of a luxury player currently playing in a team that can afford no luxuries. As others pointed out if he has went to a Falkirk or a Hamilton or a top end League 2 team he would be getting on better
