  1. Ok? Wee chip on your shoulder is it? Looks like you have tried nothing and are fresh out of ideas. Good luck on your quest
  2. I don’t care if you comment or not I was just asking if you had any other ideas man Do you want me to tell you that you can’t comment?
  3. If you really want to get rid of the board and try and spark some change then you should probably speak to some of the bigger fan groups like the Glasgow Branch or owners of the club to see if you can garner support to trigger an EGM or even see if you can get the ball rolling with suitable candidates to volunteer and replace what we have and use the owner system to vote out what we have. Do you have any other ideas?
  4. Moffat would be my choice also to be honest but think it’s pure fantasy atm. Young and experienced manager, knows a level of the game we should be operating better in and could lean on Duffy so the step up doesn’t seem too much. Maybe Martin Lauchlan would be interested but I’m not convinced on him Would be interested to see what happens with Rankin at Accies, however I imagine if he was going then it would have happened by now. Outside of that I imagine the usual suspects would apply- folk in the Peter Grant or the Kevin Rutkiewicz mold maybe. Think it will be a rookie manager that we appoint and I think it will be McLean
  5. I will reserve Judgement on Duffy in his DOF role until he has actually done something and as you are very right in saying, he will be judged on recruitment and staff appointment. if it all goes wrong then I’ll be the first to criticise and vocalise where it’s due. In his first stint he had actually brought in a lot of players ranging in the decent to really good range and of course alot of dross. Folk are left with a bad taste because the football wasn’t great and that combined with poor performances is always going to stick in folks mind. If we had played open free flowing attacking football and he achieved the same he would be regarded in much better light in some fans eyes. It’s just the way things are in football unfortunately A lot of people wanted Diamond and Corr gone and some football minded people to run the football side of things to curtail the board, which we got but people still aren’t happy. The next few weeks will be the making or breaking. Of Duffys time. He’s in a difficult position with fans already on his back. Folk seem more angry at him for the position we are in than they are at Danny Lennon which is wild to me
  6. In his last stint Duffy took over a woeful team in February 2011 and we finished bottom of the league. He can’t really be blamed there. In his first full season we finished 9th. In his second full season we finished 9th however Rangers were in the league and we were 9 points off the playoffs in a tight league and he added to the point tally from the previous season. In his third full season he had us finish 4th, lost the playoff semi on penalty kicks and had put together a solid defence with 2 team of the seasons cbs, and had 2 good youth prospects in Scott Ferguson and Fraser McGhee in the team. We were on an absolute shoestring budget then and he provided progress every season he was there and left us with a team that had finished in the playoffs. That Ferguson blew up and nearly got us relegated. If you want to criticise Duffy then go for it but no need to make up things to get your point over. Again I understand he’s not everyone’s cup of tea and some Clyde fans just don’t like him because they don’t like him. As I said before he isn’t some charlatan like Ferguson or John Brown , he has had a great career and knows football and this level very well. Why not give him a chance?
  7. As unpopular an opinion as this may be I feel this is a bit harsh. Duffy was brought in to take over a squad that was absolutely miles off it where the only hope of staying up was through a playoff. Got rid of some dross and brought in a better quality of player than which left ( barring Allan who was our best striker and was sold from under him). Got us into the play off final despite having 4/5 starters sitting in the stand, with another 3 players joining them within the first 30 minutes of the final 2nd leg. Had us competing in the playoff final until tired legs took over in the last 30 minutes. I understand Duffy isn’t a very popular figure at Clyde and plays some pretty chronic football but to say he out and out failed since he came in is pretty harsh considering he started with 1 hand behind his back and the other one got tied behind his back going into the playoffs. The guys not an absolute charlatan he has had a great career and clearly knows his football. He’s very much suited to the role he has gotten now I feel. I am willing to give him a chance.
  8. Typically the head coach is in charge or training, tactics and would have a hand in signings etc but would report to the DOF Duffy won’t be in charge of the football on the pitch but will be heavily involved in everything off it and influence it. Think of how Ross Wilson was involved at Rangers, not effecting tactics but more so through transfers and recruitment etc. Ultimately we won’t know how effective or how much influence he will have until he assumes the role. It may not be a bad idea to have him around if we go with a rookie or an inexperienced manager which is what I expect to be announced soon. The worrying part for me is the statement “I will be working closely with a new Head Coach to assemble an almost completely new squad which will give us a fighting chance to compete next season” This suggests to me that the aim next season is to try and be competitive. Would like “ competitive” to be defined, is it challenge for playoffs or try and avoid relegation? Maybe I’m reading too much into it but it doesn’t fill me up with much confidence
  9. Scullion came onto a game and I think the main difference between him and the others was that he had to come through a bit of adversity. Costly own goals and errors etc. He took that experience and came out the other side. I would be surprised if he was a Clyde player next season however wouldn’t hate it. Don’t think the level of the West of Scotland/ East of Scotland matters if there is quality. Will be interested to see how Tiwi Daramola gets on at Kelty next season, he’s scored 80 goals in the East of Scotland third division this season. Was he ever on our radar? Cameron, McDonaldand Hendji all came from a Gretna side that scored 36 and conceded 107 in 34 games. Which begs the questions 1) what did Lennon see in them? 2) Were the recruitment team consulted 3) why didn’t someone from the board step in and question we we were signing 3 players from a team that performed that badly. all of which plays into my statement about needing to be able to identify qualities and have people who know that level. Something Lennon obviously didn’t know. Rodden I would file under on paper he had the potential to be the right signing but I feel if anyone had looked at him would have known he wasn’t currently ready for league 1.
  10. Went to see Clydebank about a month ago play Darvel. They had approx 800 plus there for a midweek game and had the same for a midweek v Talbot. They also managed to sign Nicky Low from Arbroath. Clydebank aren’t even necessarily big spenders either they are just a really well ran operation. Youth teams feeding into the first squad, good community engagement, an engaged fan base moving in the same direction. All the things Clyde lack at the moment
  11. This is a pretty spot on post. Think you really need to look at the players and identify what it is you are looking for out them. QP have the benefit of a B team, being full time and a bit of cash so the gamble on Healy and Williamson whilst having worked out for them so far they weren’t loooking to fill their first team or look for starters. For us we are looking for players to start or be in our first team, so we need to find guys that are physically able to play against other league 2 players, so we should be looking at height, strength, pace alongside their actual ability or potential. That’s the biggest jump I feel the physicality and athletic difference. Lyon looked great when at BSC but struggled when moved up again. Our recent players who have came in from that level- Cameron, Rodden, Scullion all look really really small on the park which is fine but none of them barring maybe scullion later on down the line had the strength to play at league 1 level. Cameron and Rodden were brushed aside, Rodden looked really really out his depth. Then as you say it isn’t an exact science you could pick up someone who ticks all the boxes and it all goes south. I think our last good pick up from that level was maybe Ross McMillan? Stefan McCluskey ?
  12. Hadn’t realised Del had moved on from Pollok. Iv heard a lot of rumours surrounding Johnstone Burgh, seems they have a big investor from America who was originally from the area or a family member from the area? Heard all sorts of names getting linked with them. Scott Allan and Robert Snodgrass amongst them. Probably pie in the sky stuff
  13. The better players in the west of Scotland league are already signed with teams and I think you would be suprised how much they are on. The other option we will face is that those player can play for a Clyde team that will be god knows where in the table, potentially playing Duffyball in league 2 vs playing for a big WOSL team in front of big crowds, making good money challenging for trophies. Josh Fowler at Beith is a player I would be interested in but realistically we won’t be anywhere near being able to get him, Beith just won their league and I’d imagine he would have better offers. Del Epslin at Pollok another I’d be interested in but Darvel had a 5 figure sum for him turned down. The days of being able to raid the WOSL is over, the gap is smaller than when we done it in the 90s. Also unfortunately I don’t think the chance to play for Clyde is all that attractive anymore We would also need to have the staff who can identify these players and know the leagues, we don’t have that unless we bring in a manager from that level. The irony is that we had Joe Bevan from Albion Rovers in our Glasgow Cup squad last year and Lennon didn’t sign him and he’s exactly the sort of player we should have been signing.
  14. In terms of the boards point of view you can see them spouting the following- “Knows the club” “knows the league”, “a safe pair of hands”, “ experienced”, “ can work on a budget”,” had a good run of form towards the end of the season before injury’s and fitness derailed the momentum”. he will also be a relatively cheap option I’d imagine. As an aside, if we do get rid of Duffy what realistic options would fans like to see come in? If Hamilton empty Rankin he could be an option. Relegated on penalties and won a trophy in his first season.
  15. I am 90% certain that Duffy will be staying. The outcome of the “ review of the footballing department” will be that Diamond and Corr failed/are no longer needed and we will be informed officially they are gone. Then a statement along the lines “ given the uncertainty and overturn in the footballing department, alongside the clubs relegation stability and a continuation is needed. The board can confirm Jim Duffy has offered to stay on as manager through to season 24/25 and this is an offer the board have accepted” Would happily be proven wrong but as the poster above pointed out, we would have known by now that he is gone.
  16. Chairman’s statement is the absolute minimum he could have said or done. It’s obvious there hasn’t been anything written ahead of the game last night and that is embarrassing. It’s saying something for the sake of saying something the writing has been on the wall since November and any review of the footballing department should have been started and finished months ago with 2 statements ready to go today- 1 if we stayed up and 1 for if we went down. Not empty statements about readying ourselves and changing infrastructure with no details. Seeing what’s happened to Brechin and today Albion Rovers should be warning enough
  17. After having a bit of time to reflect on the whole thing I’m quite suprised just how apathetic I feel. The club is going backwards on and off the park and we are nowhere near the team that got promoted in 2019 both on the pitch and off it. We have been sleepwalking for a while and we have woken up in 2011, Fan Morale at a low, in league 2 and Jim Duffy as manager. We have never really pushed on in league 1 and that’s because we had a manager a CF and a GK rumoured to have been taking up a third of our playing budget alone. Lennon whilst a nice guy had the fans (myself included at points) wrapped around his finger. When you hear some of the stories about his tenure now he really did seem to have lost the plot a bit and should have been politely shown the door when guys like Nicoll and Lyon came back. Returning to players that were obviously not good enough when we went up but brought back because Danny had no idea how to build a competent team at this level. If you take away the players we have no real chance of keeping on, I’d be wanting to keep Ray Grant, Mullen and Sula. The rest can go and are replaceable in my opinion. In terms of a Manager for next year I’m resigned to it being Duffy and I’m not really sure who else is even available or would want it. I’d be taking a shot on a guy from a bit further down the pyramid maybe and if we are just fantasy booking it I’d go with Moffat at Clydebank. Think I need a few weeks off to get the fire in my belly back, it’s been on the way out since about October
  18. In a nut shell his time at Stenny was defined by poor recruitment in key areas of the park ( goalkeepers) especially in his first season , had a good budget and was able to put together a relatively strong squad but not get much out them in his second season, rigid tactics with no plan B including not being able to turnaround the team when things got bad and not progressing the club to deliver on goals that the board wanted
  19. Grant was arguably our best player and would be the first name on the team sheet until he got a season ending injury In January. He has proven over two stints at the club to be a great player for Clyde at both league 1 and league 2 level and is a fan favourite. He’s also a very useful and consistent player in a difficult part of the pitch to fill His stint at Alloa will have been 3 seasons prior and 2 levels above where we are likely to be playing come the summer but apart from all that yeah I can see your point
  20. Thought we done really well to nullify Annan for the first 50 odd minutes of the game whilst not creating much. Then we just fell apart completely after the second goal, whilst it was definitely a foul the ball should have been emptied before Smith gave the referee any decision to make. Scullion really should have taken his chance in the first half a lot better and if he had it could have been a different game. The thing that really stood out for me is that after season of playing at this level guys like Scullion, Cameron and Hynes have absolutely not adjusted to the speed of the game at all. They expect to get a lot longer on the ball than they do and the former 2 are no where near physical or strong enough to get away with it. Rennie was posted anonymous up front despite bagging an assist. With Seinglehurst at the back we really needed someone with a bit more energy to get on top of him and pressure him but that’s just not Rennies game. Roberts was unusually poor last night I felt, seemed to slow the game down and hadn’t shown any of the drive to get us up the park as he has done previously. Im afraid we are as good as down at this point, we will need to have a right good go at Annan to get back in it but they will punish us if we go attack and we will concede. In the long term Injuries, tiredness and poor recruitment have cost us in the long run but fair play to Annan for beating what was in front of them, they are clearly a handier team than us and hope they enjoy their trip to league 1 next season. For Clyde we have been an absolute shambles both on and off the park since promotion, hopefully we will learn, regroup and reset in that regard but not holding my breathe
  21. I’d be keen to keep Sula and Ray Grant also if we can for next year.
  22. Danny Lennon is available. It would be a win win for both parties as he is a youth focussed manager and QP have the money to buy him the Island of his dreams to train the boys on.
  23. Suggesting that the Council were looking for an excuse to get rid of us to “ Welcome “ Rangers Women’s team and Broomhill is a tad conspiracyesque no? They didn’t need an excuse they could have just let our lease run down and not renew
  24. Why are we bringing up all this again a year after it’s happened? Move on man. We decided to leave Broadwood early, it was our choice and we could have been playing there this season. Open goal have a year to year running lease. Now the money man is gone they will very likely not be at Broadwood next year. it’s not a conspiracy.
