  1. Jay Idzes. Go Ahead Eagles centre back we wanted to sign in January
  2. From what i've been told. When Goodwin got sacked, Wilder got in touch and he was told he'd get back in touch with him then never heard from AFC until Burrows arrived. Gunn has form for this. Again, I was told Idzes was keen on the move until it became apparent Goodwin was on his way out then had real reservations once he was sacked. Like I say, we are still trying to get him on a pre-contract but as there's no manager then it won't happen until thaf is sorted imo. On the last paragraph, yes Mowbray etc can complile i list of players but who's to say they'll be available come May, June time? And there's also around 15 players leaving this summer so probably at least 10-12 coming in. If we qualify for Europe what kind of squad are we going to have for that? Bearing in mind how long it took for Miovski and Ramadani's permits etc to be sorted? Everything now takes longer when it comes to signing overseas players. Even if we don't get Europe and have the LC group stages. They start early July. Look at Hibs this season. Go in under prepared then you're asking for humiliation.
  3. You might want to go back and read what a DoF actually does. He doesn't identify the players. That's down to the manager/head coach and the HoR. Steven Gunn negotiates the contracts. Badly may I add. Everyone can see the deficiencies we have in the squad. A blindfolded Stevie Wonder can see it. But the HoR will compile a list of players that suits the way the manager wants to play. Then the manager will give his preference and then it's Steven Gunn's turn to make a c**t of things. So, we are going to need centre halves next season. The new manager might want a ball playing centre back. Then Steven Gunn goes and signs an Ash Taylor no nonsense type. What good's that to anyone? We lost out on Idzes in the January window because there wasn't a manager in place. That totally flies in the face of your argument. He had nonidea who the new manager was going to be so held off signing. We want him on a pre-contract for next season but as we still don't have a manager he hasn't signed it.
  4. How do you attract players without them knowing who the manager is? And what happens if we sign players on pre-contracts etc and the new manager doesn't want them? Robson has done what was expected of him. No more. We've had 1 rookie manager and 1 rushed appointment in the past 2 years. Now is not the time for another rookie. How many times do we see it? Interim comes in, gets a couole of decent results then appointed permanently. All this falls away to buggery. Motherwell being the obvious one. That alone i think will make Burrows wary of doing that again.
  5. The only issue with that is the rebuild that needs done in the summer. If you are going to let Robson and Agnew stay until then it has to be with the view of them getting the gig permanently otherwise we are properly on the back foot with preparations for next season. Happy for both of them to be part of the new management team going forward but permanent manager needs brought in before the end of the season to know what qualities the players he has have and what he needs to implement his style. If there wasn't such a massive rebuild needing done i'd happily let Robson and Agnew run till the summer. But as it stands? No.
  6. I've said this on Twitter to folk who say "just give it to Robson till the end of the season then get the new man in". Then when you say we need to sign virtually a full new team you get the "well we have a DoF and HoR" Some of our fans are beyond fucking clueless at times. Look how long it took to get Miovski's visa sorted for example? Fucking hell he was with us in Spain then had to send him home for 2 or 3 weeks before all his papers were in order. And you just know our first league game next season is away at the b*****d garden.
  7. Apart from the 2 aberdeen based journalists telling anyone that would listen at the Cove game yesterday then no. Unfortunately though, Cormack is a man stuck in the 80's. On the 40th anniversary of Gothenburg what better way to celebrate it than having WGS as manager? Strachan shouldn't be anywhere near the club in any capacity. Be it manager, DoF whatever. He's yesterday's man. If we are seriously saying that he's the best we can get then we'd be aswell turning the lights off and shutting the doors.
  8. Strachan would be an absolutely horrific appointment. But the reaaons i stated above are also the reasons why I wouldn't have Robson until the end of the season.
  9. The problem with waiting until the summer is we have virtually a full 11 to sign. Unless you got a guy to start in May. But if you get somebody starting as manager in say June, he then has to look at what he has and identify the types of player he wants then Mowbray has to go and find them and get them signed. Bearing in mind the LC group stages start early July it leaves very little time to get players in and gelled. That's why, for me, it's key we get a permanent manager in now.. Gives him the time to look at what he has and what he needs and get the ball rolling.
  10. I'd imagine we've already told him who is on our shortlist. He'll be up to date with what's happening.
  11. The QPR, Cardiff and West Brom jobs have both come up since he left Middlesbrough and he's not taken any of those 3. So for all we know he wasn't even considered for them. There were rumours that Wilder was in Aberdeen this weekend. Not sure if it's true or not though.
  12. There's not a chance in hell we've approached Gerrard. Wouldn't want him anyway as the main man behind him at them is now at the b*****d Garden. Get Gerrard in the bin. Wilder is the man. Keep Robson and Agnew on the coaching staff. Then we can have some form of continuity.
  13. His Visa hasn't been sorted yet. Until that's complete he won't be playing.
  14. If you look at his overall managerial record it's actually pretty decent. He had a 40% win ratio at Middlesbrough. Won more games than he lost. He was in tge running for the Portsmouth job if i remember but then said he didn't want to drop into League one. I suspect his name cropped up on a few of those clubs shortlists.
  15. So if he could easily bag another Championship gig why has he not got any of the West Brom, Luton, QPR, Norwich, Cardiff or Blackpool jobs? All those clubs have lost managers since Wilder left Middlesbrough. I acrually think Wilder would be a very good appointment for us. Done well at clubs he's managed. Even Middlesbrough he won more than he lost and had a good FA cup run.
  16. Did he f**k us about? He got offered the Portsmouth job mid interview and told Cormack right away. He didn't string us along.
  17. We wouldn't have lost by 4 or 5. And anyway it's a cup game. I'm a firm believer that in ET especially when a goal behind and a man down then go for it. It's not a league game and there's no GD to worry about. Would the players lose confidence in losing an additional goal from a breakaway after going all out for an equaliser? I don't think so. Think they'd hold their heads up and say we gave it a proper go at the end. Stick Besuijen on for the last 10-15 mins even. Get a creative player in Myslovic on who's got form for scoring from distance. You never know. And now we'll never know. I can't fault the players efforts. Just wish the manager had been a bit braver.
  18. But we didn't. And we're out. Kennedy had f**k all left in the tank in extra time so we should have subbed him off. Thought it was his best game for us actually.
  19. It's hardly calling him out? He was right in what he said. It was sheer stupidity. 2 game automatic ban and maybe a 3rd coming as that's his 2nd red card this season? Goodwin says he needs to speed up getting another centre half in. I'd hsve thought with only 2 centre backs in the building anyway it should be already in full speed. We've now only 1. I'd personally be hoping for at least 2 defenders. Goodwin did indicate there may be more comings and goings. Ramirez i think we all know will be one of them going out. But on todays game, why didn't he make more changes? Besuijen and Myslovic left on the bench? He'd only used r subs when you can use 5 and an additional one for ET. We'd have been aswell going all out and losing another goal than staying as we were.
  20. Shinnie shouldn't be anywhere near centre back. I don't know a single person who thinks Shinnie can cover that role.
  21. So that's us left with no centre back cover now that Milne has been loaned out. It's right that he does gonout on loan. McCrorie been far better at RB for me so i'd like to think there will be a centre back arriving before Sunday because i suspect after Tools comments today Morelos will be leaving the boot in whenever he gets the chance.
  22. Loves a booking aswell. 6 bookings this season in 16 games. Played tonight for Asteras as they lost 3-0. Must have his mind alrwady on planting fat boy next Sunday who can blame him. Welcome to the Dons Pepe
  23. I heard him talking on Sportsound just after full time and i turned itbover to Superscoreboard. It's saying something when i'd rather listen to Keevins.
  24. I'd be happy to shift Barron and Polvara. 2 out 2 in and of better quality. Goodwin said it's quality over quantity so don't think it necessarily means Clarkson is away. Would imagine that's McCrorie cemented at RB. Let's just get in 2 good quality defenders now and it's a successful window.
