  1. I'm on a mission at the moment to get round all 279 clubs in the Scottish pyramid, but groundhopping is completely subjective. I like to write about the games I attend as a personal diary - I think once I've got round all the clubs it'd be a nice thing to look back on but there are groundhoppers out there who are very meticulous on requirements, keep sakes, the depths of the data they record etc. Each to their own - I don't get the snobbery that seems to exist from both people who groundhop or people who don't like them. I know a few groundhoppers, all great people and all love their football. I'm not sure there's a group as such, my own experiences are pretty nomadic but a bit of company at a game goes a long way. If it doesn't already exist, a small Scottish Groundhoppers group chat would be cool.
  2. Haddington Athletic 1-1 Deveronvale (Haddington win 5-3 on pens) Third Scottish Cup game of the season for me and Haddington were superb Over 500 at the match and the scenes of joy at the end were brilliant Usual write up is below if you have a minute https://groundhopscot.wordpress.com/2021/09/25/club-17-279-haddington-athletic/
  3. Nairn County 4-0 Strathspey Thistle Furthest away trip I've done so far and Nairn are an incredible club. I was invited up early to take a look around and Ian the club secretary was a real gent. Was even gifted a book on their history just for visiting! Scoreline didn't flatter and they'll play Banks O'Dee in the next round. Funnily enough I've seen both play in the Scottish Cup already this season! My usual write up is below, give it a read if you can. https://groundhopscot.wordpress.com/2021/09/19/club-16-279-nairn-county/
  4. Going to head along to this tonight. My last 3 games (2 in Ayrshire & 1 in Dundee) have served up 7 red cards so get your money on that! My admittedly limited knowledge of League One tells me that both teams are better than their league position shows (I know it's still early days) so I'm looking forward to a battle.
  5. Dundee St James 3-2 Forfar United 5 goals 2 red cards 1 overhead kick winner from outside the box 6000 fouls Usual write up is here if anyone fancies a read! https://groundhopscot.wordpress.com/2021/09/04/club-13-279-dundee-st-james/
  6. Darvel 2-4 Hurlford United Great crowd, great game, great ground and Friday night football gets a massive thumbs up. I always write about my experiences, give it a read if you can! On to Dundee tomorrow... https://groundhopscot.wordpress.com/2021/09/03/club-12-279-darvel/
  7. Dyce Juniors 1-0 Montrose Roselea 320 mile round trip on the latest episode of the groundhop. Not the greatest game I'll ever see but it's a home win and a hard fought one for Dyce. If you follow the thread you'll know I like writing about my experiences. The link is below and feedback is welcome https://groundhopscot.wordpress.com/2021/08/14/club-9-280-dyce-juniors/
  8. Petershill 4-0 Vale of Leven 11/8/21 WOSFL Conference C Good win for Peasy. Scoreline a fair reflection of the game and an easy one for me to tick off. Write up as always is below. Feedback appreciated! https://groundhopscot.wordpress.com/2021/08/11/club-8-280-petershill/
  9. Neutral here! I came along to the Camelon - Dundonald game today and I thought The Bluebell deserved the win. It could've went either way until the red but Dundonald even up to that point had created more and better chances. I thought the first goal was offisde, but it's pretty unanimous from the guys behind the goal that he wasn't Dundonald pen was 100% correct. Not sure if it was actually a dive for the second yellow or if he'd just lost balance but it's absolutely not a pen. Ref probably had a better view than I did from the main stand and the decision seemed fair enough. I'd probably have given him the benefit of the doubt and waved play on. Can't recall Camelon having a strong pen shout. I remember the supporters looking for one but I thought that was a little hopeful. Definitely think Camelon lost the head but that's a great win for Dundonald and I really enjoyed the game.
  10. That's fair enough! It's hard to see from the main stand but I thought he was in an offisde position. In fairness I wasn't even sure he touched the ball at all. Agree with that. Dundonald fully deserved the win. 100% penalty too I was a bit confused that there was such a protest about it. What were your thoughts on the 'dive' for the red? It's never a pen but I probably would've given him the benefit of the doubt and waved play on.
  11. Camelon Juniors 2-4 Dundonald Bluebell Not much in the game until the red card but Dundonald deserved the win. Great game, 6 goals and one of the few clubs to offer a steak pie! The link to my review is below, any feedback is appreciated. https://groundhopscot.wordpress.com/2021/08/07/club-7-camelon-juniors/
  12. Kilbirnie Ladeside 1-6 Rossvale in the WOSFL Premier Division Not sure what the script was supposed to be but I'm pretty sure this wasn't it. A must win as both teams were looking for their first points. The game's much closer than the scoreline suggests although it's hard to grudge Rossvale any of the 6 goals as Kilbirnie were miles off it defensively. They've also sacked their manager after this loss! As always, I've done a wee writeup here; https://groundhopscot.wordpress.com/2021/08/04/club-6-280-kilbirnie-ladeside/
  13. Haha I did take a wee walk about not sure what a journalist would be interested in. I found a Tesco meal deal and was quite happy with it
  14. Bellshill Athletic 5-2 Lugar Boswell Thistle. Six quid is a steal for a game this entertaining! I do like writing about my outings, the link is below if you fancy a quick read. https://groundhopscot.wordpress.com/2021/07/31/club-5-280-bellshill-athletic/
  15. Yeah, that'll be him! He was giving the players pelters. Loved his passion although not sure the poor EK right back did! Let out a massive frustrated scream at the final whistle too. No actual word - just a big noise No drumkit yesterday though.
  16. I went to the game last night. as The judge above mentioned - it really could've went either way. I thought a draw was fair but I don't think the 2 early injuries helped EK. Would be interesting to hear an East Kilbride perspective on things? Also really enjoyed K-Park - a nice setup and a friendly bunch. I'll be back for sure.
  17. East Kilbride 1-1 Caledonian Braves I like to write about my games so I can remember everything. If you want to you can read here https://groundhopscot.wordpress.com/2021/07/28/club-4-280-east-kilbride-fc/
  18. I'm not a Dons man, but there seems to be an optimism and buzz around Pittodrie that's been missing for a while? Cracking performance and an excellent result enjoy your night guys!
  19. Cumbernauld Colts 0-0 Bonnyrigg Rose Bonnyrigg 1/7 with McBookie - 0-0 absolutely the deserved score here
  20. Not many pics as the game was in Shettleston and I’ll be back for Glasgow United at some point. Finnart 3-1 Glenvale WOSFL Division 4 Didn’t really know what to expect here but Finnart played some excellent football. A joy to watch at times and could’ve easily justified winning by a bigger Margin. Credit to Glenvale for staying in the game and had an unbelievable finish chopped off for offside with about 10 left (he was off to be fair). Haven’t seen the other teams in this division play but it’ll take a very good team to beat them. Shoutout to Craig Johnston for scoring directly from a corner (doubt I’ll see that very often on my travels) and assisting another. 2 wins in 2 for Finnart now
  21. Yep, can't argue with that. Yeah I get that. However whilst they exist where they do it'd hard to deny Celtic/Rangers some sort of entry into the pyramid.
  22. That's feasible I suppose. I'm definitely not saying everyone is wrong for opposing it but personally I won't mind them being in the pyramid (definitely oppose being put straight into league two). It is hard to say they shouldn't be in the pyramid at all however with some reserve sides already featuring.
  23. When was the last time Celtic & Rangers both played at home on the same day? Granted yesterday was friendlies with a max. 2000 people - but it can't have happened too often in recent years?
  24. Too early to say who will win the league I think. Darvel is a sensible shout for the players they've brought in but there's no way you can write off Talbot or Clydebank. I've also heard through print & podcasts that Pollok will be up there and also that they'd go down! Benburb & Rob Roy for me yesterday - very evenly matched physical game. Big result for the Bens and I'm not saying for a second they didn't deserve it, but I don't think there'd have been many complaints if the sides walked away with a point each. Best of luck to both going forward!
