  1. It does seem a bit of a sideways move on paper to get rid of Colin Nish and bring back Max Christie but hopefully it's an appointment with a bit of stability and longevity in mind and wish him all the best back at Foresters.
  2. I'd agree definitely still improvements to be made if the aim is to step up into the SPFL. That said, there are some questionable 'spectator experiences' up there too from previous experience.
  3. Depends when you're talking from. There's been significant improvements at the ground over the last few years.
  4. I'm sure whoever comes in is gearing up to be our sixth manager in under five years, for the context of how regularly we seem to go through them. I'm not party to any insider info at the club, so not sure where and why the decision has been taken or what it's based on. Rumours will bounce about the place of the usual. My only guesses (and maybe being a bit harsh with some conclusions) is the fact we ended up with only two points from a possible 15 in our last five league games when trying to keep pace for the playoff places - coupled with the fact that the football we're playing has dipped a lot in the back end of this season and some of the team selections have been questionable. Some of the recruits that have been brought in under Colin Nish have been hit or miss as well. Can only surmise that after Calum Elliot resigned, the board were looking for somebody who, with the backing they'll get to take the club forward, would take the next step quickly and more convincingly than we have this year. We can't be disappointed with where we've finished, but I can see why some would be disappointed at how we've finished there. All that said, a 5th place finish in that league is hard to improve on for any incoming Tranent manager, but I think this decision could potentially have been tipped by an air of desperation to get out of the Lowland League as quickly as possible. If that's the be all and end all, we can't chance the next appointment or the Summer's recruitment. There are a lot of well-suited, experienced names at that level that might be available.
  5. The whole 'merger' was destined not to last very long in itself but I do think there's a decent coach there in Si Ferry and I don't think he's a bad guy by any stretch, even if I wouldn't optionally sit and listen to him or watch his stuff. Saying that, his army of hangers on seem like a bunch of total clowns.
  6. Does your phone ping whenever someone talks about us? Deary me. He's been at Forfar and not exactly played a lot of football lately. As potentially strong a signing it is on paper given the guy's previous career, you're making out like someone's dropped down several leagues at the peak of their game as a sly dig at our (obvious) endless tycoon treasure chest. I hope your own team becomes a priority in your train of thought again at some point
  7. What sort of player is he? Can't say I know too much about the guy but he seems highly rated.
  8. Satisfying result in a pretty grim encounter. Heavy rain and plastic pitches don't make for an easy game on the eye. Ref and officials had an absolute nightmare of a game. Can't fault Caley Braves, the few involved we spoke to seemed dead nice and welcoming. Some of our supporters seriously need to wind it in with the swearing and abuse. There's a point it just becomes OTT when there's kids about. Our young boys have been called out for less.
  9. People seem to think we run on some bored Mr Moneybags that's the only answer we are where we are. Does a disservice to the graft and attention the people behind the scenes do for the club in helping it improve.
  10. Flying at the minute, long may it continue!
  11. As far as I know, we only have Nicky Reid and Adam McGowan until January? They'll both be very big misses for us if they go mid-season.
  12. Spartans away was always gonna be one of the toughest trips in the calendar this season. A point doesn't set us back in the grand scheme of things and the way the table's shaping up.
  13. Would be absolutely fantastic but to go from the East Region South of the Juniors to the fourth tier in seven years would be madness. I didn't expect us to be challenging for the title in our first season in the Lowland, but I'd imagine every Tranent supporter is just enjoying the ride for now and the football we're playing.
  14. We seem to have 'clicked' a bit under Nish now. Playing some fantastic attacking football. Joint 2nd in the league in early November is absolutely fantastic. Spartans away on Saturday will be a cracker.
  15. Some game yesterday. Totally bossed them in the first 20 minutes and could've been out of sight. Everyone to a man played their part yesterday. Sending off for Oban was the softest I've seen in a long time and on a list of some seriously questionable descisions going Rangers' way. A point is a decent result for us, all the same, going into a couple of big games next week.
  16. What sort of away following have Rangers and Celtic B taken this season? Just for a rough idea. I'd imagine it being more local observers coming along than dedicated followers at that level?
  17. We're a point off 2nd place in the league after last night. The Lowland is wide open and a decent run can get you right into the mix. Nothing to panic about (other than maybe the amount of penalties we concede...)
  18. I don't think there was many people with sensible heads on that went into this season expecting to challenge for top of the league. This season is about finding our feet in new surroundings. It's clear there are stronger and weaker sides than us in this league, so I'd expect us to be comfortably safe/top half. Bear in mind we had an unexpected managerial change and a lot of players going in and out as well. Some expectation management maybe needed, given where we've come to from a few years back.
  19. I see Jamie Doc's signed for EK. Good move for him, not sure it's such a good one for us.
  20. Is there a particular reason he hasn't already? Just enjoying his football at Rose? I assumed his numbers would've caught attention higher up the ranks even now.
  21. Mark Stowe's goal return over the last couple of years must be silly. Has stood out noticeably whenever I've watched him at this level.
  22. Good win last night and have heard the ref had a shocker but conceding 2 goals and giving away a penalty every game isn't a good habit to keep up for us. Good that we seem to know where the back of the net is though. Thought at the beginning of the season we lacked a clinical edge a bit and we've found it seemingly at the expense of our defensive stability. Once (if) the two click as we know it can, it's happy days.
  23. 4-2 again tonight in a repeat of Saturday's scoreline. Certainly looks like more goals [at both ends] with Mr Nish at the helm.
  24. We have done when I've been there this season.
