  1. I agree, but I distinctly remember a commentator doing it. I think it's because at that point he was still pretending to be Irish.
  2. Small nations occasionally have good players? It helps when they pretty much immediately leave their footballing backwater and go somewhere else for proper development. Yeah, great point.
  3. Your point is that a nation with a far worse team managed to produce one good player who left immediately and was trained in England? Er, great point there. Maybe there is something in Scotland produces more of a certain player, e.g. world class full backs, and less centre forwards. Maybe it's partly our system, but it will still be predominantly random. Ireland will remain a nation we can learn virtually nothing from. Hoping Rory Wilson can buck the trend. But all this chat about how bad our youth development is and how we arent getting players a chance seems anathema to how our national team are currently performing, and the amount of exciting young players we have. Your complaints are coming decades too late.
  4. It's still an anomaly given our long footballing histories. And currently there is no doubt we are far better than them. Our domestic game has always been far better. They don't really produce any players, it's all outsourced to England and their best sides for most of those 40 years were made up of non Irish players. They are pretty much the last nation on earth we should be learning player development from.
  5. Not sure if serious. This Scotland team pisses all over Ireland from a great height. Just like we have been doing for 95% of our respective footballing histories.
  6. Probably rotating the squad as he has played so much football recently. The Brighton fans rave about him on their forum, were pretty shocked he was subbed in the last game as was looking their best player. Been a great end to the season for him. And to think of those writing him off at Brighton on this thread!
  7. I'm hoping eventually things will eventually get better and the insidious negative culture on this sub forum is fixed. Got to keep calling it out. The fact the national team is actually doing incredibly well now hasn't stopped it. It's truly bizarre. I think some of the individuals involved are obsessively negative in all areas of their life, can't fix those people unfortunately.
  8. It was actually an example of living a normal life and not gorging on state aid. Harry is far too far gone for that, even the toddler is threatening people to watch out when his dad becomes king. They are complete brats. Still enough fools will bow to them, it really is wild.
  9. Not at all, there are many things he could do to achieve something. Living a normal life and not taking massive state aid would be one. The king of Norway takes the bus around. Most royal families live far less lavishly than the British royal family. Most royal families are far smaller. Still, hob nobbing at some charity events has impressed you - that's the whole point after all. Almost like it's a well executed pr campaign?
  10. Arsenal looked rotten without him. Terrible choice by Arteta. I'm sure he will secure an excellent move, much to the chagrin of the haters above. Also not surprised at all that Tierney only coming on as a sub generated far more posts than Hickeys excellent performance and assist for Brentford. The obsession with negativity absolutely stinks with certain posters.
  11. Fair play on wearing that nazi costume too, amiright? Weird how awful attention seeking behaviour gets applauded because it's "triggering".
  12. It's a bit of a chicken and egg thing, if you get paid millions to do nothing and are involved in some charity work - is this a great achievement? If he wasn't a royal he wouldn't be a public figure at all. I highly doubt the invictus games was his idea, the royals have dozens of PR people working for them, and I suspect his day to day involvement in it is fairly minimal. Like a really hard working royal putting in 80 work days a year. But yes I do agree these people are pretty much set up to be failures from birth, and most follow this enthusiastically.
  13. Probably can't have both now given they are deeply mired in financial misconduct. Grealish is a better player than McGinn or Watkins, he's an average-good player in the context of the City side he is in. McGinn and Watkins are excellent performers relative to the team they are in. But don't take my word for it, Grealishs stats say it all. No strange bias against him for me, a strange bias for him for you. You do wear his Pjs after all. Thankfully, for both of us, the figures don't really lie. Grealish is fine. There are far better Man City players. There are quite a few far better players in his position outside of Man City too.
  14. Harry is only a public figure because he is a royal, he has achieved nothing beyond this (and never will). Agreed that some actress claiming paparazzi is chasing her is a non story. But because he's a royal it is, and it's another opportunity for republicans (like me) to point out how ludicrous this situation is. Prince Harry isn't some master troll stroking his ego at people getting upset, he's repeatedly demonstrated he's just some fucking loser who hates the unbelievably privileged life he has. Good. He isnt the only one, look at any royal family from the Saudis to the Saxe-Coburgs and you will find plenty of Harry's. It's a sad, lonely, pointless existence stealing from your fellow countrymen because you were born into the ruling family. He's an attention seeking w****r and it's a good thing he's been called out. I imagine he's a insufferable p***k in real life too.
  15. I commented because someone said they only like him as a player because they (wrongly) thought I didn't like him. I have nothing against him. He's an average-good player at a top side. Like many before and many after him. No doubt he wasn't worth what they spent on him, but that's not on him.
  16. Yeah so he had a shocker of a first season and an ok second season when his output is still fairly average and no where near the best in the team? Seems a fairly accurate assessment. He still isn't a regular starter for England, struggling behind world class attacking players like, er, Mason Mount and Raheem Sterling. Surprised you picked out Watkins and McGinn who are both having great seasons and are excellent performers at this level. Both have probably benefited from selfish Grealish leaving. He's a bit of a strange footballer really, burst onto the scene with great fanfare and Jack Charlton comparisons. Had two inconsistent seasons in the premier league, the latter resulting in relegation, followed by three seasons in the championship (with fairly average attacking numbers). His best goalscoring season, by far, was on Villas return to the premier league where he managed 8 league goals. This isn't the career path of a superstar and it's a bit of a surprise it led to a £100m deal (after city failed to get Kane). He's now being praised for being tactically disciplined whilst still lacking any great attacking numbers? All a bit weird. Sure pretty much everyone at Man City would have far rather signed Kvaratskhelia for 1/10 of the price, no doubt he looks a far better player. Grealish loves a night out and was a regular at the Benjamin Mendy parties, wouldn't be a big surprise if his peak isn't that long. But Walker has been a total radge throughout his career (Inc recent public flashing whilst drunk) and he has managed to keep playing at a high level well into his 30s so who knows.
  17. They make total arses of themselves on a regular basis. Not sure that's "triggering" people.
  18. No quarrel here, I wouldn't have even responded to the post if my name wasn't mentioned. If bonsky wants to wear his Jack Grealish PJ's and hang his posters on his wall that's his (sad) business. I don't even find him a particularly annoying player, he's just an ok one in an excellent side. Bruno Fernandes (rightly) gets far more stick on this site for acting like a w****r but there's no one out there white knighting him.
  19. The Norwich stint where he played 24 times in the top flight and secured a big money move to an ambitious (and much better) Premier League team? Even Chelsea tried to keep him after it with the owner telling him the coach was about to get sacked to keep him on board. Surely a disaster would be serious injury / not playing all year? Surely a disaster loan spell wouldn't end with interest from far better clubs? He was a cut above that Norwich team, is he the only player from it still playing in the top flight? Means they were shit, not him. So your "disaster" hyperbole has been well and truly called out here. It was a great assist, one of the passes of the game. I only saw the highlights so can't comment as much on his overall performance, his record when he does play is excellent though - they look a lot worse without him (see the Everton game). Of course, none of it matters because Johan Cruyff once made a better pass. Pending McTominays return to first team football soon, I also wouldn't have Gilmour starting just yet but he is a fantastic option off the bench. Really good strength in depth in key positions at the moment, great time to be a Scotland fan!
  20. Eh? Couldn't care less about Grealish tbh. His record of goals and assists is pretty poor by city standards (even if better than his woeful first season) so don't think you'll be punching the air very much. He has four fewer goals than Gundogan, who plays far deeper in midfield. Funny people have a hardon for him though, never mind there have been far better players at man city this season. He may get a 'most improved' award but that's only because he was imposter level terrible in his first season. In an actual City player of the year, would he even make the top 5?
  21. Let's hope for #SerieAcleansweep. With the most finalists and semi finalists it's been a fantastic season in Europe for them. Forza Italia. And to think some people have been writing it off
  22. He almost certainly got a lighter sentence as a current English international. Had a fairly good retort involving another twitters user's mums gaffe so credit to him for that. No doubt he's a total daftie, most pro footballers are and he'll be right at the end of the spectrum.
  23. You'll struggle to find two more different type of central midfielders.... Gilmour thriving on the competition now. Are 100% of your posts about him negative? And if you want to punt in wildly different midfielders Brighton might sign James Milner is a good shout too. Reckon he won't take much game time off Gilmour (if any) but will be a good mentor off the pitch.
  24. Prince Harry is a weirdo fantasist clearly deeply unhappy with his life. Royal families around the world produce losers like him on some rate of knots, centuries of pretty intensive inbreeding can't have helped. Not a single intellectual amongst them. Is this really the best of Britain? An absolute car crash (an expression, not the made up incident Harry is referring to). This is a guy daft enough to be caught cheating in an art exam.
