  1. Shake off the rust? Tierney was fantastic in the international break. I saw no evidence of rust. The usual suspects don’t even bother to hide themselves any more - why are you constantly attacking our players? Robertson had a particularly excellent game vs Leeds and no posts, Tierney has a good game against West Ham and people say he was poor and needs game to shake off rust? It’s just weird behaviour tbh, surely no other national team has ‘fans’ like this?
  2. He laid it on a plate for Jesus to score too, should have had an assist. And from what I saw he kept the line fine and two others left Bowen onside. Usual suspects really out in force here. An excellent Scotland performance did well stepping in for Arsenal. I'm sure some were desperate for him to do badly but he didn't. What a wee shame.
  3. Funny how there was serious talk about Reece James being the best right back in the world a few pages ago when, despite only being on the pitch for 33 mins, managed to get totally skinned on the goal line leading to Brighton have a shot on goal, and then later gave up possession for their winner (with a particularly ham fisted, Sunday league esque touch/pass). Reece James has had some excellent attacking performances in the past but not much this season, has serious recurring injury issues and is possibly enduring some complacency following a massive contract award. No where near the best right in the world on current form. Additionally, Ryan Christie was correctly booked for diving against Spurs but no surprise at all that when Kane did the exact same thing later in the game he was not booked. It's abundantly obvious the England captain can get away with just about anything in the Barclays, that's the way it has always been. Like when the NBA decided to not call Michael Jordan on certain fouls. Gerrard or Lampard to go down as the worst manager in PL history? Gonna be a close one if they keep getting jobs.
  4. The word catastrophies not used, and Alexander Arnold not even mentioned in the post. In your rush to be offended you got two key points wrong. This is a football forum, I objectively post my views regarding players. FWIW, obviously the likes of Gilmour aren't at the level of either of those players. Nobody is arguing that. You can criticise players of any nationality, but when they're English people will rush to their defence it seems. I didn't even mention their nationality, it's not particularly relevant other than the media will naturally overrate English players and that is something worthy of comment. I suspect this is the route people use when they can't actually debate the contents of the post itself.
  5. He can barely stay fit at the moment, who knows what effect long term recurring injuries will have or the fact he's ruined his body composition by bulking up too much. As for Grealish, nobody is denying he is a good player, but a short purple patch doesn't change that he's been a complete failure of a signing for a ludicrous £100 million. If he isn't playing Mahrez or Silva is, he hasn't made them any better just maybe more marketable. The fact the media are desperate for him to succeed should give you an insight into how much of a disappointment he has been, his early record was well below that of Wilfred Bony. Also it's funny when players with massive egos turn out to be not that good. Chilwell acts as if he is Ibrahimovic whilst being a bit of a shit (and widely disliked) player at this level. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
  6. Yep, it's just bizarre empty speculation. McGinn is having a wonderful club season but no comments on this forum. Gilmour isn't playing and people speculating on his body composition, attitude etc, just give it a rest. He'll be fine. Steve Clarke clearly still trusts him.
  7. Right, so your argument is you should put people who voluntarily consume a product into prison? Next thing you will be telling us that legal products like fatty food, alcohol, coffee and cigarettes also have negative health consequences. Maybe the consumers of these products would all be better off it it was made illegal, they had to purchase shoddy unregulated products from criminals, and if caught they would be imprisoned. Saying "drugs and bad m'kay" is not an argument, who is your policy (or continuation of the status quo) actually going to benefit?
  8. It has been pointed out before on this thread, but adding muscle mass is one of the easiest thing for any footballer to do. Or indeed any male in their early 20s really. Indeed, many of them take it too far but it's been linked to injuries and poor form (e.g. Reece James and Trent Alexander Arnold). Gilmour will have sports scientists telling him what his muscle mass and body fat percentage should be, there has never been any suggestion he is outside of those limits (not like, say, Kalvin Phillips who was publicly called overweight by his manager). Staying within weight will be a lot harder for most players, not putting on muscle mass. Rooney looked pretty much permanently overweight, loved drinking and takeaways, and was usurpisingly finished in his early 30s. The English press fawned over Micah Richards physique when he first emerged - he played his last professional game in his 20s. Getting faster / more agile is possible but far more difficult. This may be holding him back (none of us know) but it won't be because he won't lift some weights after training.
  9. Not surprised at all that Binos is opposed to a slam dunk policy like legalising marijuana. Who exactly benefits from prosecuting people who voluntarily take a substance that is demonstrably far safer than many legal substances?
  10. Norway's footballing record is dismal compared to ours. However, they are boasting two of the best players in the world at the moment so reasonable for them to expect things will improve. Their team will probably get worse not better in future, so this is their chance.
  11. Sorry you disagree with? Again, seems a quite obvious factual statement. And, fwiw, the opposite is equally true in south east Asia. White people running a sexual abuse ring is big news (maybe even global news) - locals doing it wouldn't be much of a story. Important to look just beyond the face of things and try to understand why they are portrayed as they are. In the UK, immigrant (or just non white) abusers would be used as a political tool - and we know them because it repeatedly has been (the prime minister even used it recently). Sorry if that bores you, but it's accurate and relevant.
  12. Corruption is not, or at least should not, be a party political issue. If anyone is guilty here they should face the full force of the law. A high profile arrest, immediately released without charges look fairly suspect. The UK media and establishment despise the SNP and will do everything possible to bring it down. Think I'd be looking closer at missing COVID cash to be honest, in addition to this.
  13. It's important to make the distinction between peadophiles and sexual abusers though. The former have a sexual attraction to children but the majority will not commit any offences, the latter could well abuse children but not necessarily be peadophiles (i.e. they do it because they are accessible victims, not that they specifically target children). Being a peadophile is probably one of the worst affliction any human being can have, you wouldn't wish it on your worst enemy. There should be resources available to identify them early and get them the treatment they need to prevent them offending. Indeed pretty much any strategy that protects victims should be seriously considered. As for the cases mentioned above, I imagine similar has happened throughout human history but not been reported. As hard as they are to read, awareness and education should help increase focus on the issue and reduce the instances of it happening in future. I suspect many of the perpetrators were themselves viciously abused as kids (not that it is any excuse). Break the cycle, stop all violence to children (and eventually all violence altogether). The biggest sexual abuse case in the west midlands also came to a close with a range of convictions and heavy sentences yesterday - BBC News Twenty-one convicted in West Midlands child sex abuse inquiry https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-65189785 Sadly, as we all know, it would be much bigger news had the perpetrators not been white.
  14. Is a player with one appearance suddenly ahead on him? Who knows what is going on behind the scenes, but it seems likely he will be moving on loan in the summer. And it likely won't be to Rangers or the championship, he can do better. Not going to worry too much, far too much negativity around our players as it is.
  15. Been a dreadful international break for Barry Fergusons hat - two Scotland victories. He will be absolutely seething.
  16. It's correct that nobody outside Scotland would particularly care about Scottish football, that applies to every league in the world except the big four / big five in Europe. It's not something we can influence, and it shouldn't bother us in the slightest. Our TV deal should be compared to its peers of nations around 5mil people or at a stretch less than 10mil. As we are by far the most successful and popular nation in our peer group our TV deal should be significantly higher than, say, Norway or Finland. It isn't because we don't benefit from a strong domestic broadcaster. We should, but that will only come with independence. Until then we will be treated like an irrelevance and paid accordingly. Same as our national team games not being available on domestic television.
  17. Indeed, it's harsher because it was front page news. Mick Phillpot got only 15 years (minimum) for causing the death of his six children by setting fire to the house they were in for an insurance scam. Hard to feel sorry for Cashmere, who is clearly a terrible man almost certainly involved in more murders, but it's still an objectively harsh sentence for an accidental killing (plus intentional attempted killing).
  18. Yeah pretty good, but not great. It's pretty much unprecedented in world football to have such a big gap in homegrown managers winning a league - and most of the time nobody's even coming close. Scotland, a nation less than 1/10 the size of England, has 14 titles with two different managers since an Englishman last won it. In the next 30 years, the smart money is on Scotland staying well ahead. It's one of the many major weaknesses in their footballing culture. Dyche, Howe and Southgate have all gotten their teams relegated, it's not like they're Mourinho or anything. Rafa Benitez, who himself is only okay, has achieved more than every English manager combined in the last 30 years. In those 30 years obviously they don't have someone the calibre of Ferguson, but they probably haven't even produced someone the calibre of Moyes. As for the game yesterday, Kane, as England captain, consistently gets away with being one of the dirtiest players in the league. His specialist move is backing into players as they are jumping which could lead to a career ending injury. And this is nothing new, Alan Shearer was allowed to stamp on Neil Lennon's head whilst Rooney got off with smashing James McCarthy with an elbow off the ball. The FA will let them do whatever they want. Mason Greenwood repeatedly broke COVID rules by hosting parties and it was hushed up, only coming to light when it emerged he was a dangerous predator. There is much more they are successfully covering up, along with a compliant media, that we won't know about it.
  19. All things considered, Potter at Chelsea is one of the worst managerial spells in PL history, it's Terry Connor levels of bad in terms of expectations Vs reality. He got an unbelievably easy ride from the media, and is still getting protected now - just like Lampard before him. A Johnny Foreigner like Conte was eviscerated despite having a far better record. Let's hope whoever they hire Cheslea continue to be dreadful.
  20. Pretty much every article that speaks of Tierney's performance praises it. Pat Nevin called him superb. I could easily link it, I just read it again, but I won't because you won't learn that way. You won't learn that an essential skill as a grown adult is to be able to Google things yourself. And look at what you're arguing, a fantastic Scotland result and you're worried about media outlets praising one of our players? Why? What the f**k is wrong with you? Your Tomiyasu post where you gloat about how he has more minutes than Tierney is the smoking gun of many posts on this thread. No way on earth an actual Scotland fan would post that. You said you had been posting positively about Tierney for years but when questioned on this you ran away. You criticise me for only posting one link, you have zilch, none, nada. You have totally failed, not for the first or last time I'm sure. The thing is, Bing probably used to be a Scotland fan. He's not so much bad as just naive and easily led. He's the Ralph Wiggum of this forum. When other trolls attacked Tierney Bing wanted to join in, they have disappeared and he is the only one stupid enough to stay holding the bag. The genuine Scotland haters like Binos are probably laughing like f**k at him. I don't doubt it hurt Bing that Tierney played well in both matches. What's next? He'll cut my post into one sentence and say "you posted one link not three" But this will be my last post on the subject. I'll end it on this - the last (many) pages of this thread have been posters constantly posting negatively about Tierney. Myself (and others) pointed out he was still getting some games, hopefully getting over his injury issues, was dropped for tactical reasons not performance and will still be a huge player for Scotland. We were right. Those attacking him were wrong. They got it horribly wrong and most have disappeared, one poster is so desperate to distract for his awful Tomiyasu post he has wasted a page on one link not three. We can all do better, let's stop using this forum solely to criticise players who aren't playing, let's also praise those who do play and play well. Maybe I'm being harsh on Bing, but eventually he will learn. Ralph Wiggum is malleable after all. Wait, he's a grown adult who works? That is surprising, he posts like a 11-12 year old.
  21. I didn't make it up and I did post a link. If i post another you will ask for a third, then a fourth, and I'm not pandering to someone thick enough to not use Google himself. I have asked you to provide evidence on many things which of course you have not ignored - or straight up not understood the request. Look at what you are arguing - you are desperate to say Tierney looked rusty even though it is stated in the media he didn't. Why are you so desperate to attack our players? Read your posts above, you can't seriously think this is going well for you? Clinging to a small twig as you are carried out to sea. Oh Bing
  22. He played Tierney far more times than Tomiyasu at left back for a start. But yes, you were instantly forgettable as a poster. Sorry about that. A post where you were repeatedly eviscerated and this is the best you can do? Oh Bing. Will you at least try and do better and stop attacking our players at every opportunity? I doubt it, look forward to another one sentence reply - at least now you know you are well beaten.
  23. I didn't make it up, I just didn't factor in that you were too thick to google it for yourself. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/scotland-player-ratings-callum-mcgregor-29549776 It's right here, in the Daily Record, as I said in my last post. One link not enough for you? Suck it up buttercup, unless you're willing to provide evidence yourself don't bother asking for any. But if you want to try - then please quote yourself going back years saying this. I have quoted you on this page gloating about how Tomiyasu was getting more minutes than him. Why on earth would you do that? When on earth did I say that I preferred him not at top fitness? That's a bare faced lie on your part, and not even a good one. It's a ludicrous statement no one would make. Quite the contrary, I wasn't too concerned with his lack of appearances and was confident it wouldn't affect his Scotland career. It's far better than Arsenal playing him 90 mins twice a week as it's clear his body can't handle it. Maybe this quieter season has allowed him to address his underlying injury issues - if so, fantastic news for him and Scotland. You keep asking for evidence yet provide none. The quote where you gloat about Tomiyasus appearances relative to Tierney says it all really - as if an actual fan would do that. BEven now, you are desperately trying to say that media outlets didn't think Tierney was rusty, even though the Daily Record explicitly said he didn't look rusty. Why? Why are you so desperate to attack our players at every opportunity? Your loser friends aren't here to help you now, the idiot who thought Tierney was third choice, Binos, theroadlesstravelled etc. will run a million miles from these threads when Scotland players or Scotland do well. They will be back, of course, but will leave plenty of time (and something bad happening) before reappearing. Only one poster looks foolish enough staying behind holding the bag. You really should have kept pretending to not read my posts, it's surely better than what's happening to you now. Take a lesson from all this, try not to attack our players constantly. Sometimes post about players playing and playing well, not constantly about whoever is not playing every week.
  24. McTominay was excellent, but you can still be mad at his crazy yellow card at the end. Wild, needless stuff that I hope doesn't cost us in the future.
  25. See posts above for how dreadfully wrong you got it, and went hiding for weeks afterwards. You did indeed follow my advice or pretending not to read my posts again for a while. Google it yourself, I only saw two articles and both mentioned it. I googled again, knew you would be lazy, and the Daily Record states in explicitly in its player ratings. Sure they have never see Tierney before..... Anyway, as expected Tierney had another fabulous game, he really is a terrific player and absolutely essential for this Scotland team. As has been pointed out extensively, his lack of minutes for Arsenal reflects a tactical decision not his ability or attitude. Arteta does clearly trust him hence why he keeps playing him in cup games (and bringing him on in many league games). It's a near certainty he will move in the summer to somewhere where he gets more minutes, Arsenal would love to keep him but he deserves more. Until then he will continue being a model pro, and will be a well deserved winner of the league at the end of the season. He was an excellent signing for Arsenal, one incredibly popular with fans, coaches and fellow players. What has become clear on this forum, is that there exists a subset of posters who only post negatively about our players. They infect many of the threads and of course only post about players not playing, or making a mistake. The threads of the players who are active and playing well are dormant. The threads of the players not playing are awash with wild speculation. Why is this? This subset either hates Scotland openly (like Binos), or is a born pessimist who veils their outright criticism with faux concern - 'I just hope he plays more' - it's complete pish. If you find yourself siding with the fantasists thinking Tierney is third choice then clearly you are in the wrong and desperately searching for a way to criticise a player, of a team you supposedly support. Do better. If you are trying to fudge factual information to criticise one of our players, then you are just the same as the overt trolls. I have no doubt this behaviour will continue, the usual suspects won't change their spots that quickly, but the way to combat it is to robustly and repeatedly call it out. Stick to the facts, don't attack players who don't deserve it. Maybe eventually we will become a board when the threads going to top of the section are about how well we are doing, and which players are playing well rather than the current ceaseless negativity. Be part of the change you want to see in the world. If that change is gloating that Tomiyasu gets more minutes than Tierney, then you really are fully through the looking glass. Credit to Tierney on another fantastic performance, many doubted him but I am happy to be vindicated.
