All the hard work to get us to the SPFL in the 1st place has been undone. Granted, we had a non existent fan base when we got here which was always going to be a red flag to begin with. I'm going to try and write this my best in chronological order as to what has gone completely wrong and why we are in this position now. Firstly when Jah stepped down as chairman the club was handed over to highly ambitious businessmen that didn't have the funds to sustain their ambitions. Secondly, the move to Ainslie Park and not having our own home within a year and the signing of a convicted sex offender done absolutely no good to the pretty decent PR and goodwill the club built up under the EOSL/Lowland regime plus our 1st season in League 2. We were very lucky that Cowden were tragic in 2017/18 or we would've been toast, we also racked up a bit of debt. During the 2018/19 we had this ambition to become the best part time team in Scotland, decent players were signed on NOT high wages like many believe, a couple of gems from non league were unearthed and things looked a lot rosier until we found out the club were in the red and we needed a backer. Then along comes this backer who just wanted to run a football club from his home city, he ploughed a lot of his own money in. Covid then hit which wasn't ideal but we seemed to survive that and in 2022 we were promoted to League 1 despite the team being pretty mediocre all season. The club then decided to change the name of the club immediately without consulting any fans whatsoever and what little fanbase we had dwindled away and the club, with the money it was paying to try and chase a deluded dream to get to the championship, became completely unsustainable. The owner then told us we had 3 weeks to save the club and we found out the owner was trying to negotiate a deal with Spartans for them to take us over unless a fan led consortium took over which somehow miraculously happened. We were told things would be tight but it now seems the two who saved us at the last hour were lead down the wrong alley and the club was in a serious amount of debt with just about everyone and anything you can think of. Despite lowering ticket prices to attract more support we just haven't, the membership scheme has not even managed to touch the sides when it comes to plugging back any losses therefore we now find ourselves in this position where we could either go into administration, go to the wall completely or be opened up to a takeover from another club(again) As a long term fan who has overly invested emotionally over the years this is heartbreaking stuff. I've been to nearly every corner of this country following this basket case of a football club and the fact i and many others are completely powerless to help save the situation hurts us even more. There just isn't enough of us, and that stems from not having the fanbase for SPFL football in the first place. An absolutely grim situation, we aren't sustainable, and sadly I'm now resigned to the fact we are finished. I hope I can revisit this post in a years time and laugh at how wrong I was, but I doubt this thread will exist in a years time

Crowd was very good for our standards for such a game. Whole contingent of young ultras present making a good racket. Most of the regular die hards there as well. It was a really good game and credit to Bonnyriggs youngsters who have gave it a really good go against our 1st team. I'd say attendance looked around the 150-200 mark. Be interesting to see who we get in the final and where it will be played. A bit of silverware won't go a miss at all after the dreadful year we've had

Yep, we couldn't go back to Ainslie Park and they wouldn't have us there again anyway. Meggetland I am amazed we got outfoxed for. Surely we can do a straight swap with Tynecastle because that makes the most sense. It's not like Tynecastle get any more than 50 at home games. I know for a fact that we were offered a share at Ochilview once upon a very recent time...... That would have been a disaster. We are in dire straits ground wise. When the crowd is under 300, Meadowbank isn't actually that bad especially if you are in the 2nd and 3rd row. Any decent sized crowd though and it's not fit for purpose. .......and we need big crowds to sustain ourselves

Off the pitch they aren't exaggerated mate. I think we are bang in trouble and that's mainly down to being at Meadowbank. We've got no front of shirt sponsor, a tiny budget, no merchandise available whatsoever. We really are in trouble if we don't get out of Meadowbank by end of the season tops. If we can't get out of there the only way we will survive as a club will be in League 2 and that's probably being very generous. If a monumental change/Stroke of luck doesn't happen, regardless of what we do on the park, we as a club are going down into free fall. And that's with everybody trying their hardest which they are. Owners hands are tied behind their backs big time. Its such a shame. Praying for a miracle we can leave Meadowbank

The wanting to be the team for Hearts and Hibs fans when their own team is away has always enraged me. We will never get our own identity when we advertise games as "No Hearts and Hibs today so get ya self down to Meadowbank" etc on Social Media. I understand we need people through the gate but this rhetoric has been going on too long. Of course, Hibs and Hearts fans are welcome at our games, we have no rivalry with any of them as we know our station, but to rely on them to build a fanbase really does wind me up. I understand hits hard because Hearts and Hibs run generationally through this city, and during the post war boom period for football we asa club went bust and didn't rear our ugly heads again until 1986. So as a result, we missed out on 2-3 generations of fans and we've never been able to grow any sort of fanbase since reformation from EOSL until present day apart from a loyal band of 20 or so(that's literally our entire core support). We have an ever expanding international migrant population and those who have migrated here from other parts of this Island that might be looking for an identity locally and something football wise here to make them feel more a sense of belonging. That's our market, and so are students who might want to settle here after graduation. Other than that we don't have the clout to break the green and maroon grip on this city and we need to grow our fanbase immediately to survive. Two men plus a couple volunteers can't keep everything going eventhough they've put everything they can into the club and worked extremely hard to keep us going

Meadowbank has been a disaster and I was one of the biggest celebrators of us returning home. I even argued with you on here about it. You were right all along. The only good thing about it is the pubs nearby. I have a season ticket and have only been once all season, I just won't go again whilst we are there for League games it's the worst place I've ever watched football. Edinburgh Leisure have screwed us over and the previous owner annoyed so many people and burned so many bridges it's backed us into a corner we can't seem to fight our way out of As for another place to play, hopefully we can convince the powers at Edinburgh Leisure that we would be much more worthy tenants of Meggetland than Tynecastle but I doubt it. Whats really concerned me was an article released a few weeks ago. It said something along the lines of "we don't want to have to go and share at Livingston". Why was Livingston even mentioned? Funny one that and too alarming to be ignored. Has a share there been discussed in the past without majority knowing? Are we going to have to go there when Meadowbank inevitably fails the grading which is being brought into effect next season? There is literally nowhere left in Edinburgh, we can't upgrade Meadowbank or even afford to, so could there be something in this? We've got better owners now and fan representation but we are in a dire situation, worse than ever, which isn't the current boards fault at all

Good point about the full time teams. Saturday is massive and will really show where we are as a side this season. I think Cove at home is winnable the week after(eventhough I think they are full time?)but I also said that about newly promoted part time team Annan who haven't really strengthened that much and we chucked that.
