  1. Well done to the fans who came down to game today and made a lot of noise and gave a great support. Shame we couldn't get the 3 points I believe the overall performance deserved.
  2. Hi bud Understand difficult for you and quite a few other fans who don't stay in the town. The general meeting was a factual informative meeting with a few questions in regards to things like u20s and other areas as well as community aspect etc. I confirmed that the club now have a new chief scout who starts asap and will under his new role bring on board 3 or 4 people to go to games and get reports on players. This is a part of the club that we haven't had for a while. Idea of a reunion day. Also a challenge match over 35s cowden vs dunfermline over 35s (ex players only). There was someone taking notes and I think a broad summary will be in the programme at next home game Few conversations about players and enlightening fans on simple things like where we train etc.. Frank discussions about the ground ownership and income going to be down next season due to no premier cup money etc.. In all I think very positive and thank you to everyone whom attended. Cheers.
  3. Thanks to anyone on here who came tonight. There is also a podcast episode out on the terrace podcast on Spotify as Craig Telfer asked a lot of cowden questions. Good listen hopefully.
  4. Just a message to confirm that meeting on Monday at Junction 7pm. Would be great to get a good turnout and start that fan engagement process. I will be able to share some news also at this meeting about things being worked on. Directors will be in attendance also. Good chance to get a good Q and A going. Cheers.
  5. Proud of the players and management but not surprised the hard work going on behind scenes and on training pitch is there to see. Aside from stirling uni game we have improving significantly and will continue to grow. Bumps in road will 100% happen but going to ek and for me being controlled and have quality and being aggressive with a proper hard working side was gr8 to see. Well done and let's kick on. I hope fans can really get behind this group. They are a good bunch with a top attitude. 100% is always given and playing for that jersey. Mon the cowden.
  6. Just watched the whole game back as I do after every game. I notice spartans also had every man back for a corner they were defending even at 0-0. I think earlier in season we did lose soft goals from set plays and getting extra bodies to defend to ensure we don't concede is priority. You can keep 4 up if you want but if you can't win 1st and 2nd balls then get set into transition you won't set up counter attacks. Clubs at much higher levels than lowland league have all men back at corners sometimes regardless of the scoreline. Maybe having 2 on edge of our penalty area ready to press the 2nd phase/wave of attack. Anyhow games about opinions eh. Disappointing result last night plenty of effort and endeavour and more organised but none the less a poor goal to concede and a shit defeat. We go again Saturday.
  7. That's the news out about our first of hopefully many monthly meetings with all fans of cowden fc. The first one held in junction bar 17th October at 7pm. I hope to see as much of you there as possible. Cheers.
  8. Good valid points. I think my view for this game was to re engage our previous core support or people who may have drifted away. This way to get them back and see friends may entice them back. Your point about youngsters. I think the cowden matchday experience created last season was hugely successful with every game from November having a minimum of 15 young kids and at one game 30 kids. We need to build on that though and as you say keep young ones coming through. Kids can come free this season. New supporters as you say is key also and with difficultly due to facilities its a tough one but the club will continue to try and happy to take ideas on board. If people are willing to drive it and own it ahould they come up with a good idea. No idea is wrong if it's trying to benefit the club.
  9. Great minds and all that. Even fans who attend maybe 1 in every 4 would b good to get that group of boys all there for one game. It needs planning and people to help but the idea is solid. I do think a Saturday is best so with plenty warning people that don't come or would come for this game only can get it in the diary and plan a lads day out. The old ETB gang fully together for a day. The tea and sconers together for a day. Families for one day. As said wouldn't be hard to say at junction get an old game on the screen for fans to watch before our game. Then after our game hopefully after a win. A night out.. Worth thinking about and pushing..
  10. It's sad that our crowd was 200 at weekend and our crowds are below teams in lower levels like Dunbar and musselburgh amongst many many others. I actually came up with a potential idea of having a REUNION day game later in season. The idea being that for one game highlighted in the not to distant future we promote a game where we invite all past fans and ex players and family of current fans etc etc to the game with a reduced rate and through word of mouth or social media or simply texting your old cowden friends to say look cowden are having a reunion day where we can all meet again on the terrace and have that nostalgia feeling and meet old faces. I would look to get 2 or 3 local pubs involved where I would say if they can put on an old game in their boozer for example one pub play cowden vs brechin and one pub put on cowden vs dunfermline pre game and get people into the pub b4 game also. Reduced entry for the game also. I like the proposal and feeling knowing I could bump into lads who have not been to central park for years either due to work or family life or simply fed up of watching us. They go because they want a little day out with old friends. Life is short and meeting old buddy's is something not to be missed. Through effort and planning it could potentially work. Any thoughts?.
  11. Well done cowden. Controlled performance with a high tempo and excellent reaction to a poor previous performance. The press was excellent today and we won 1st and 2nd balls all over the pitch. Same type of effort and tempo required tuesday. Sadly sam newman (who was excellent today) will be missing tuesday as cant play against his parent club.
  12. Its a valid point. And one in which I agree however the financial aspect is one to way up. Do you spend a portion of the little money we have on a new u20s set up. That money comes out of first team budget. From that perspective it's something I and others are and will review. I know people within the club are already discussing things with certain people in the community. Cowden clearly will never be able to spend their way to success and the likelihood is that clubs such as darvel and ek with wealthy backers may become more normal than just 1 or 2 at this level. Anyhow we can only concentrate on what we can control and work with budgets that is set.
  13. Thanks cowdenleith. I don't want to go into too much but my hope and plan is to do as much fan engagement as possible and keep fans up to date and speed as much as possible it's healthy that loyal fans have clarity and information. With this in mind I made a proposal to offer a monthly meeting at Central park which will begin soon where fans/shareholders/club 135 members or supporters clubs can meet and i will discuss a wide variety of topics as I'm sure will a Director or 2 about other areas of the football Club. I don't particularly like posting this on here but I know it's a good platform to get information out. So once the announcement is made for the monthly meeting I do look forward to seeing people. The wide ranging role I shall take on is a huge task and everything I do is always for the good of the club. A club I have been watching from 8 years old and studying teams/players. The club means everything as it does to so many others. Fans ideas and proposals is vital the club welcome it. I welcome it and if fans wish to discuss anything with me directly it won't be hard to get in contact. We all want success we all want our team to win but being a cowden fan for a long long time is the toughest gig in British football almost. I salute every one of us. Mon the cowden.
  14. Bryan gilfillan announced as assistant manager at Dalbeattie. Great lad and all the best to him.
  15. Some players who we all had high hopes for sadly didn't perhaps fulfill their potential I think the club were pushed to signing 20 players in such a short short space of Time. Constantly trying to improve things so for example ruddy is an improvement on mcgready for me. Davo is an improvement. Stuart love improvement. The lads leaving are not bad players and not bad lads simply wasn't going to play as much as they or we had hoped. That's football. Recruitment has to be better and things are being put in place to do this for short and long term. Loan players are young players too and part of that same process. Alfie not far away but too soon for tomorrow I think. The boys should be up for every game. Wednesday was an unacceptable performance they know that. Performances up until Wednesday had 100% been improving. Let's hope for a reaction tomorrow.
  16. How many junction lads coming tomorrow?
  17. Doesn't work like that I'm afraid. I understand it's easy to say don't sign those 3 and use that 3s wages and sign that target we missed out on who went for an extra 50 quid a week but it genuinely don't work like that. Maybe we have players playing for very little or free... a lot of clubs have that eg expenses only for example.
  18. Cammy top top lad. Would have found game time limited at the club and that's football. With a big squad and over budget it's also a financial decision as well as a football one. He goes with best wishes. I'm sad he has left but the kid wants to go play every week. Mon the cowden
  19. Of course the manager has the final say in signings. Don't think any manager at this level or even most levels would accept any different. The player he signed who he told u have 2 mins or your off simply wasn't following instructions and what was worked on at training. The club of course has a large squad so likely move one or two on.
  20. Club will confirm it on socials soon but yeah Tom will be in the sticks tonight.
  21. Working hard all day on it. Club should be in a position tomorrow to confirm someone. I think danny will be a one game ban so back for saturday. Jack not far away either from being fit again
