  1. It does seem like the wheels have come off in recent weeks.

Williamson is a lost cause I'm afraid and will no-doubt look back on his time with us as very frustrating.

McGuffie I thought was harshly maligned by some but even I've come around to the fact that he needs to be moved on.

Hetherington continues to be a very poor man's McGinn and even McGinn is now morphing into a poor man's Hetherington which is quite concerning.

We should also be worried by our lack of goals at the moment. It's noticeable that in the last few games our furthest forward players in the box at times have been McKay and McGinn and Oliver when chances have presented themselves.

Apart from Kennedy's goal at the weekend our advanced players like Morrison, Nesbitt, Alegria and Burrell aren't getting anywhere near what a "form" team should be.

JMcG does not have his problems to seek at the minute!

  2. What was evident tonight was there is next to no variation in our play.

We pump it into the box or shuffle it side-to-side but we hardly drive into the opposition box or slice a defence open.

    We've become predictable.

Lastly can we get Kennedy off the set-pieces. We've more chance of a penalty than him putting one in the top bin from a dead-ball.

Look at the coverage on Luke McGuire’s video. Two handed shove. PK end of

Having reviewed it and regardless of my view on Alegria's lack of killer instinct - it's a penalty.

We've seen these poor calls all season and the statistics are damning when allied with video to back-up the incidents.

So much debate around VAR's introduction in the Premiership that Scottish referees association has missed that the refs aren't upto the job and it's only made worse at this level because no-one is scrutinising it.

Anyway how is this not a PK?

It is but as we all know, the refs at this level (especially) are terrible!

We can focus on that but Alegrias indecision is equally poor.

Before the defender got back he had time to make up his mind and pick a spot but he dithered and dithered allowing Lyness to narrow his angle and the defender an opportunity to recover (foul him).

For me, Alegria gives the ref a let off by not shooting earlier and looks like he's played for it so the ref can wave it away.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. He's not clinical enough in those situations.

... McGlynns reaction to being asked about the transfer window. Was it a discreet dig or gesture to the BOD?

A bit of both. Knows it's difficult for the board just now and the onus is on them to find funds, if possible.  Probably unlikely.

All JM can then do is try and shuffle his pack, whether that be getting deadwood out or choosing to jettison Hogarth, Alegria for others, for instance.

Is there anywhere that hold an online archive of old photos of the stadium at Brockville?
When searching online it’s just really the same few images. I was specifically looking for any photos of the inside of the main stand or the outside of the main stand for some reference material

Falkirk collections has some pictures of Brockville.

Really good resource for the whole of the Falkirk area.

I think that result yesterday shows that there's not much chance of anyone other than Dunfermline winning the league. They are able to grind out wins and draws at the very worst but we've lost 4 games before the end of the first quarter. I'd love to think that we could get up via the play-offs but not in the least bit confident about that.

First half yesterday was cagey as hell and with Brad McKay on the right it pretty much stops any real attacking threat from that side. He nearly always looks to pass it back to Donaldson and the likes of Nesbitt and Morrison weren't showing for long spells yesterday.

The high balls up to an isolated Burrell were infuriating as well. He can get on the end of them provided the opposition decide not to bother defending ala Queens last week, but that was never going to be the case yesterday, yet we persisted with it throughout the entire game.

    Frustrating.

Kennedy was especially a let down. I just don't see what he adds and given a choice between McGuffie and him I'd pick McGuffie!

The games where Morrison plays that more subdued, I think, is to protect the fullback and so he can't drive at the opposition the same way as other games where we won't be under pressure.

I don't think it's over as some are suggesting.

Put in perspective - To come from where we were last season to having the league leaders need a smash-and-grab performance to confirm their 'superiority' I think we're still in it.

Two terrible teams where a 0-0 draw wouldn’t have looked out of place. In games like today we need to defend set pieces better. Neither keeper I think had a save to make. Referee was atrocious. 7 points is a big gap and now puts the pressure on to beat them twice later in the season.

I thought we were decent without creating much.

The play acting from them was embarrassing and bar the set piece they had not much more than us.

SFA/Refs have always been tough on FFC when they’ve let others off.

Back in late 2012 we wanted to have our shirts (in 2013/14) with different colour sleeves to match the style of shirt and the SFA/Refs knocked it back on the basis both sleeves had to match, even though prior to that season & after that season, Rangers & others had kits with exactly that same set up.

This is what they were meant to look like inc the 3rd shirt that never got made.

Hate to defend them but the Rangers kit, although similar, did have matching sleeves having compared them.

Not inconclusive but does seem that it is consistent that sleeves have had to match.

    ... stats of W3 D2 L2 giving us 11 points from a possible 21 isn’t great

Over 50% (52.38) isn't great. God help us when we do hit a really rocky patch.

I concede we were poor and the tail end of Alloa and result for Kelty must be the warning that we need to be "on-it" from first to last whistle, as if that should be needed to be said.

However, painting Saturday as "normal service resumed" does a disservice to what's been achieved from where we were.

It's the reality of where we are in the scheme of things. In the hunt for the play off's but teams now have a handle on how to play us and we don't have the squad quality to mix things up.

It was a bad result but some posters need to get a grip. We've lost once since the last Kelty game. That does not suggest that we have been found out.

  12. Yesterday was disappointing and the players let themselves down against Kelty - again.

They are our bogey team this year.

Also disappointing to see posters scapegoating Nesbitt, McGuffie and Mckay even though the goals lost had nothing to do with them.

The team failed 1st half yesterday not because the named individuals were lacking.

... better decision making with the final ball and we'd have got a few more. Mcguffie trying to beat the defender with two players open on each flank was so bloody wasteful. ...

That was very frustrating, and he did similar in the 1st half.

You'd think having scored a banger the Saturday before he'd have been willing to shoot but seemed hesitant. His teammates couldn't have complaints had he attempted to recreate his last at any point last night.

    Ach, well! Splitting hairs tbh.

I've just given you several examples where money has been squandered.  If that's what you call a 'tight ship' then I hope I never set sail with you.

I'm not disputing they gave a decent and enhanced budget this season.  But here we are 1/4 of the way through the season and we're hearing the money is running out.  Hardly wise decision making?

What do I suggest they do?  Upping the budget in January was a mistake, as is paying for a new training facility.

Tell us, oh wise one, why did the finance director resign?

In defence of @Bairn in Exile, I think he was giving examples of criticism that would be levelled at the board under both scenarios i.e. running a tight ship vs throwing money at it.

I don't think he's implying that the BoD have or haven't done one or the other.

My thoughts regarding the goalie incident with Alegria was that if that was the other way around and Alegria had his hand on the goalie (soft or not) would it have been given as a foul? Yes it would.

Some sympathy today for the ref. The angle FTV shows it looks like a slip but from the KM Stand it was a push. God knows what the ref ultimately saw from another angle as he was.

His linesman should've helped him out.

Exactly. The statements have been ramped up every few weeks for a wee while now so it's obvious that the whole in the budget has been there and the bod are running out of options to fill it.  The AGM can't come quick enough.

Sadly have to agree with this.

Firstly, yesterday's statement was clearly pitched to ratchet up the need for investment/funds which until then had been downplayed coupled with the sudden announcement of directors appearing on FalkirkDaft - I'd wager to reiterate the perilous financial position the club really is in.

  17. Some issues, for me, with this communication and FSS/Club relationship generally -

The organic growth of the society does seem to have been forced, somewhat. There was a perceived up-take after Holt was emptied, which I assume many attributed to the FSS involvement but unconfirmed as far as I'm aware. There's an argument to be made that this was the catalyst for a lot of reactionary members rather than increasing the membership through an actual example of influence. It also contradicts a stated aim of "... gradually increasing the proportion of fan ownership".

The latest update doesn't tell us anything new but seems to imply that the FSS remit now isn't purely to safeguard the club but instead has rapidly progressed to a model where they need to accelerate the fan ownership part hence the 90% comment as I believe ST numbers should never imply membership.

One point I can (and hope to) expect pushback on, is what has the FSS achieved for the subscriptions: Yes more shares but what tangibly has that meant? If the FSS are improving X, Y and Z on behalf of us all shout it from the roof-tops and show the difference they've made for the funding they're given.

Let me be clear - I'm all for the FSS but I am one of the 90% and not in a position to commit to ongoing contributions - at the moment.

I believe it's legitimate to ask whether the FSS, at the moment, could be perceived as a stream of funding the clubs losses, by the back door instead of the club charging ST + £120 to cover the budget set which is a different proposition.

They had an away game against a premier league side. I'm slightly wary of going into details in case the manager wants them kept quiet, but it was basically what he said in his FFCTV interview. The team was made up of players who're not getting game time right now with a number of the Under 18s featuring.

McGlynn seems quite open in his interviews; I'm guessing he'll go into details in either his weekly press interview or the next one with FFCTV.

It was against St. Johnstone and is reported in the Courier:

St Johnstone star David Wotherspoon suffers injury scare (thecourier.co.uk)

Would appear we conceded 4 from the report but doesn't mention much about the actual match.
