  1. Miller said at the outset that the team lacked goals and I surmise that the strategy once AT-S and Watson arrived they could coach a cohesive unit and with Griffiths availability and our dearth of options (Wilson, Ompreon and wantaway Keena) it probably seemed like good business. I'd hazard they are ruing not getting more in the middle of the park. Who and was out-of-contract?
  2. He's going to get a full pre-season and the benefit of any structural changes that are taking place behind the scenes. Whether it's our SD taking the fall or he was stealing a wage we went into January in the worst circumstances possible and it was called out at the time. We'd either binned the plan or as has been revealed - there was no plan! Rennie's January, in hindsight, was poor but I have to accept he was hamstrung and not many could make a purse from our pigs ears. The football has been dire but even he can't legislate for the individual disasters that players have week-on-week. As for the interviews I reckon he's trying to keep morale up as there will be many who know they're playing for their futures and yes, some who just aren't good enough but throwing them under a bus isn't going to help. I'd give him another 6-month deal rather than have us both commit to longer terms.
  3. I highlight it because of his less than stellar stint at Livingston and his role as "technical director" at Newcastle Jets - was that akin to Gary Holt's role here. I don't care much about his Rangers bias to be honest just as I didn't care when Jimmy Nicholl was our assistant as he has a hell of a lot of experience in that type of role. I just question, with hindsight, whether Rennie would still choose him or perhaps at the seasons end he might decide he needs an experienced #2 around him. While we're discussing SAF he was never shy of changing it up when he had too (Knox, McLaren, Muelensteen, Queiroz, Smith, Phelan etc).
  4. Perhaps Rennie's biggest failure has been that motivational aspect considering his reputation was football coach and motivational speaker. All the focus is on Rennie but what part is Miller playing in this? @Springfield asked my why I still backed Rennie and it's because I am advocating evolution rather than revolution. Do we need a more experienced first team coach perhaps.
  5. It's not turned yet but the atmosphere on Saturday is edging towards calling for Rennies departure - the usual chants didn't feel very far away. I was all for binning Rennie but have cooled on that and I'd give him a proper pre-season and stability behind the scenes and see what transpires. Hopefully the new BOD and working groups have got a handle and oversight on many of the issues at the club to avoid the farce of Holt being repeated. ~6mths in post and 1 player identified is shocking. However, how he was able to is equally shocking but not unsurprising.
  6. Can anyone confirm if this was brought up last night? As we know the FSS ran the poll and Rennie must have been the main driver at the time so would have been interesting to hear what bearing the group had and what Rennie learned from the episode.
  7. What a mess! I said a few weeks ago Miller was done but after yesterday I'd play him in front of Williamson all day long. I'd even give Wilson a go as he can't be any worse. Williamson like a little boy lost and fearful to tackle - at the 1st goal his hesitation allowed them in and slower than a week in jail defensively. Enough has been said about McKay already but an exceptionally gutless display playing nothing passes to avoid responsibility. Going through the motions would be affording him too much credit. Telfer the best of a bad bunch yesterday, trying to get us forward and did make a few tackles for once which seemed to stir the others but it didn't last. Dowds was a big miss yesterday as Kabia/Griffith's didn't work. Mutch spot on that the team is too soft - Question is if he can see it and we can see it why hasn't it been addressed properly. Mills in midfield not a solution but a desperate gamble from Rennie.
  8. God knows how long it's been since we actually looked like the home team. Every season away teams come to TFS and peg us back. Falkirk make nothing of home advantage.
  9. Charlie Telfer: Falkirks season isn't over yet Drug test for Charlie please I've came to that conclusion not just by the headline but the content - Thinks we can win next 8 on the bounce, against higher opposition even though all evidence would suggest otherwise.
  10. That is the main argument against LG outlay but it might be his non-football attributes that are worthy of keeping him. Having listened to the half-time bio of Kilmarnocks Chris Stokes on Alba during the cup game last night, what he said was obvious and interesting - Paraphrasing much of it but he explained that as a player he's been promoted/relegated before and when he arrived at Kilmarnock he saw a football club which didn't want to be in the league they're in and also the expectation that brought. Fans almost expect instant promotion and will tell you very quickly in games when your underperforming and unless you're relentless and can carry that expectation then it can affect players. It sounded very much like the situation we found ourselves in and continue to suffer from. Many of the players we have signed are of the required standard but perhaps they haven't had others around them who understand the expectation and demands the supporters put on Falkirk and wilted. Leigh Griffiths does have that experience and I think folk could see on Saturday that he is frustrated and demanding better from those around him that hasn't been in evidence for so long. Ultimately he's judged on goals and that's where I question whether the spend is justified but as an influence on others that may be harder to put a value on.
  11. From what I saw, Mills took the brunt of criticism for the loss of the goal on Saturday, as he didn't make the foul earlier in that passage-of-play. However, he did try and get something on the cross but got under it. AT-S horribly out of position and Gary Miller still trying to get out of 1st gear and track EF runner.
  12. Gary Miller looked quite comfortable in Saturday's post-match interview with Falkirk TV ... presumably because he was able to stand in one place.
  13. Assisted by Ray Stewart or Tom Hendrie In all seriousness, I've seen the Scottish FA (Largs) coaching derided more than once on here but it's the envy of many and some of the world's top coaches are alumni.
  14. Steve Paterson but he has a court case hanging over him so would be a pretty risky appointment.
  15. Apologies but "dogged" sounds like they sat in and soaked up our attacks when "flowing" or "purposeful" might have been a better descriptors, in my view.
  16. Your doing East Fife a disservice. They were better for most of the game until the final minute capitulation.
  17. There was a boy at Huddersfield who was on peanuts apparently. In the brief time he played he wasn't anywhere as bad a Gary Miller in the centre of the park. If only he was up the road at Livingston, we might've been interested.
  18. Playing keep ball in the corner against East Fife has to be the worst ... and Gary Miller too. He looked f**ked after 10 mins today.
  19. Hoping that potentially Rennies last act will be to put Dixon out to pasture. If he didn't have a mortgage to pay I'd suggest he do a Gary Neville and do the honourable thing and retire on Monday.
  20. Aye. Have found it odd that Telfer hadn't been bumped when you've got Griffith's delivery.
  21. 7 v 4 in that last frame and it's a shambles. 3 secs between pics and Miller hasn't moved! Dixon blocking Mills, Watson out of position and McGuffie still hasn't closed the space to Peterhead #20. I hope the players felt as embarrassed as their defending was watching that back.
