  1. My, you're a clever one. Looked through my history to find a quote and try to beat it using hindsight. A strange one to pick because I stand by that comment - Scott Brown could STILL do a job for any squad in Scotland. Every team in Scotland is currently playing at least one midfielder who is less capable than Brown. Because Brown doesn't perform at the level he did 5+ years ago doesn't mean that he's fallen to Joe Newell or Jake Doyle-Hayes standard (had to Google Hibs players). I think most Aberdeen fans whose opinion I have heard recognise the issue with Brown at Pittodrie was he that was asked to play 90 minutes every nearly match. If he had been used sparingly as would suit most players his age, then I am sure the return would have been better. Moot point, he has retired. That aside, I doubt you will have any luck using hindsight to defend that hopeless creature that is the Hibernian "manager". Relegation battle for Hibs next season if they keep that charlatan in place - and I think you know that well.
  2. You are expecting Maloney to have been diligent and capable? He has been like a deer in headlights from the moment he got that Hibs gig. Maybe a decent coach or assistant for someone (big maybe), but doesn't appear to be manager material at all.
  3. How is Dean Campbell getting on? Surely he has settled in now and absolutely tearing it up at that level?
  4. Shaun Maloney has managed to make Jack Ross's one-dimensional Hibs side look even worse in a very short time. That must take some amount of inability. If Ross got sacked after getting Hibs to a cup final, I can't see Maloney surviving to next season, if they don't get to the next one.
  5. What are the Killie fans' thoughts on Dean Campbell? I know quite a few Dons fans - some seem to think there's a player there, but others seem glad he's away from Pittodrie.
  6. As a (sort of) neutral looking in, the weegie team got away with one last night. I only saw the 2nd half, but Aberdeen were easily the better side. Scott Brown is one of those players that you only like if he's playing for your club. He could walk into any team and do a job.
  7. With Barron being recalled to Aberdeen, what would you say is the order of preference for central midfield roles with current Aberdeen players? Do you think Barron is ahead of Campbell in the manager's eyes? Glass only seems to use Campbell when he absolutely has to. Brown, Ferguson and Jenks all get game-time ahead of Campbell - will Barron also leapfrog him?
  8. I think you are confusing great performances with great results.
  9. Happy to be told if I have just missed all of Jack's stand-out games - I can only judge with what I have seen. The consensus seems to be that he is a crucial player for Scotland - the statistics however seem to show that the team are better without him. The Allan Campbell shout was on the basis of the 3 or 4 games that I have seen him play, there will be Motherwell fans who have a better idea of what he is all about. In one of the games I watched him he absolutely bossed a current Scotland squad midfielder, leaving him entirely anonymous. I believe he got injured at Luton Town which is the reason behind him missing games - now that he is back I think he'll become a name mentioned more and more. Once again, I am judging him on the limited times I have seen him - it could be that he had the best 3 or 4 games of his life on those occasions, and he's actually bang average.
  10. I don't have any club bias here - I watched Allan Campbell 3 or 4 times in his time in the SPFL and he was an absolute stand-out every time. I have watched Jack quite a few more times than that - very rarely a stand-out. I can only go on what I have seen - I am not going to clamber on a 'Ryan Jack is a great midfielder' bandwagon just because the Daily Record says so. With what I have seen with my own eyes, he is an average midfielder. He creates very little (I know this isn't his primary role, but surely a midfield requirement) and never seems to challenge the opposition when not on the ball. He can keep possession well - mainly by passing to a defender - I'll give him that.
  11. I'll be honest with you, I haven't watched any of Jack's club games in Europe so can't comment on his form there. I would never describe him as crucial for Scotland - has he been missed at all? I would argue that Scotland's best games in years have been when he hasn't been in the squad due to his injuries. I don't think he'd 'walk' into any squad - with those frail legs of his he's more likely to hobble!!
  12. I'm not sure how Jack could find himself back in the current side - or even squad. He'd have a lot of impressing to do - and have to get beyond the level he's ever been at before. When Allan Campbell gets a move to a more attractive team than Luton Town I can see him being more likely to be pushing for a place. Was always very impressed with him in the few times I saw him at Motherwell, and I believe he's doing well down South.
  13. Thought Gilmour was immense for the first hour - ran himself into the ground, I don't think anyone would have been capable of doing that for 90 minutes. I am not surprised his club manager has been sacked if he can't see what he brings to a team. Liam Cooper was absolutely solid at the back, can see why he is rated so highly by his club. Adams hold up play was amazing - against some very astute defenders. I also think Christie did some great running and played some neat passes to get the team out of trouble on several occasions. I don't watch the English Premiership, but if John McGinn plays like that for Aston Villa every week, then it won't be a surprise if he finds himself at a much bigger club soon. Would be great to have a Scottish player at one of the Italian or Spanish giants - that hasn't happened for many years. I remember no-one batting an eyelid when Archibald got his move to Barca!!
  14. 1-0 Scotland with 1 minute to go and it will be rocking.
