  1. I think the word you are looking for is Mercenary
  2. I may be wrong here, but the Uni weren’t in the first season of the LL, they came in year 2…..I think. So I suppose technically DS is the leagues longest serving manager.
  3. The bottom line is that this is a done deal, people can hope and cast doubt but these charlatans don’t leak stuff out without knowing who is voting for what, the SPFL meeting yesterday will have put the tin lid on it.
  4. Completely agree, the overwhelming need for a central governing body should be the overriding priority…….sadly it won’t even be considered.
  5. The funding model is all wrong in Scottish football. We have 42 clubs who receive all the money, and a pyramid below who receive virtually nothing, it’s lopsided, and without excusing the behaviour of the LL clubs, I can almost see why some may jump at the chance to pick up £40/£50k for appearing in a league. The SFA should have been concentrating on the financial distribution in their “review” instead of looking to appease 3/4 of the 42.. I do realise that the SPFL are a members organisation and that they control their money, but a bit of pressure from Maxwell and his cohorts wouldn’t go amiss.
  6. I was along the right lines then Thanks for the clarification on it.
  7. The only vote will be at the AGM, the SFA need members approval to enable them to form a new league. Someone with a better grasp of the regs may correct me, or explain it better.
  8. It was the SJFA who insisted on dragging everyone across, some against their better judgement.
  9. Listen, just you lower league plebs know your place in the game and just get on with it, our paymasters have spoken. I really don’t know where the game goes from here.
  10. I don’t recall him saying anything about London???
  11. L2 clubs are not squeaky clean here, you don’t think they would prefer another buffer between them and the LL?
  12. What bits did you think were lies, without using the obvious answer of “all of it”
  13. I suspect that you would get club’s going for it and salivating at the thought of a guaranteed £40/50K. In an ideal World they would all stick together, but unfortunately we don’t live in one.
  14. That’s the problem, I think that he hinted that if the LL refused then they would have went ahead with it this Summer anyway.
  15. No surprise from the SPFL, total self preservation.
  16. I’m pretty sure he said it was handed out to clubs, which I had confirmed from a club rep last week.
  17. There is still the chance for Aberdeen to be that if it doesn’t start until 24/25.
  18. Listened to the Official Catchup this morning where they interviewed the chair of the LL, main points were - 1. Conference will start 24/25 2. SPFL are in agreement (As are HL)as it gives a “soft landing” 3. Plan to have the 3 champion clubs from tier 6 promoted at end of 23/24 to fill the gap left by those going to the conference. 4. Permanent plans for increased ventilation will be looked at. 5. SFA insisted on 24/25, SPFL wanted 23/24. I am sure I’ve missed stuff, so apologies, but that is the gist of it.
  19. I agree re the name, it makes us sound like some baseball team. I think he went overly Scottish with it, trying to fit in.
  20. They definitely try to engage with the local communities, school visits, pay what you want entry etc, so I suppose there is an engagement there. I will say that the engagement through the app feels very “sterile”, which I suppose is the nature of these things.
  21. I have the fan app, and to be honest I’m not sure what I get out of it. Chris Ewing wants the club to be successful, which is admirable, but the reality is we are being overtaken by clubs with bigger resources and bigger fan bases. Braves will not get out the LL anytime soon imo. Edit - at one point when this was launched he promised to be in the Premiership by 2025.
