  1. Maguire I think wasn't helped by the fact he got stuck into all the promo videos and content with Turnbull, Hastie and Campbell when it was, even back then, quite clear he wasn't on the same level as any of them (Hastie...I know, I know hasn't panned out well). Robinson, I think, was the one who tried to convert him from defender to midfielder, and I reckon that also probably didn't help his development long term as he kind of got lost a bit position wise. Want good enough really for either position. Always thought he was a useful squad player to fill a gap, but not much more than that, which is probably why he has managed to hang around. Time for a new start somewhere else though.
  2. This was the conundrum for me but I'd rather keep McGinn at 33/34 Vs SOD at 31/32 I think.
  3. This was discussed a wee while back but our defence as a unit is just not good enough and tough decisions required. All the individuals I think have plus points but some of them need to go to clear the decks Casey and Blaney are here next season so I'd take that as given. I'd bin Bevis and Butcher. Harsh on Bevis maybe but he's not good enough at thelis level consistently. Butcher is done McGinn and O'Donnell. Hmm. We probably keep one for back up and general utility. Ideally I'd keep McGinn I think and bin SOD.
  4. Probably proves you can be a bell-end like he was but also do some good in the world. I still think he should have gifted us all the money given he was minted and gifted loads to the church in bothwell.
  5. The thing is, there are risks with every ownership model right? Just to greater or lesser extents. The three options we've kind of got on the table, in very simple terms are/were: Well Society ownership majority Outside investor majority Outside investor + WS some sort of split. Personally, at the moment, and I stress, at the moment.. Well Society ownership majority - I've got no confidence in the Well Society handling things that well long term given the track record. However, all the recent moves and new board members etc definitely has me changing my mind on that one. I could be convinced so would take any updated presentation at the time of a decision on merit. Outside investor - Not particularly keen on this at all like most, but I would see who it was and take on merit. I'd need to be heavy convinced. Won;t really be an option as no investor would be accepted that is going to wipe out the WS. Outside investor + WS some sort of split - This tends to interest me. Devil in the detail and all that. But leverage something of outside investors, be that expertise, contacts, capital, or whatever, + retain WS some sort of control....I'm inclined to like that idea to be honest. Need convinced on how it's set up and going to run. But, again, on merit at the time.
  6. I can only imagine how much Alan/Grant/Laura would be giddy with excitement with, if they were still here, and a guy who talks about social media growth and content initiatives was cutting about the place. This isn't a criticism of anything by the way...just ironic they all did a bunk and then this guy pops up.
  7. My position on this whole thing is that I'm open to listening to what potential investors have to say. So, on that basis that's a good read I'd say. Interested to see how it progresses.
  8. Does he vote Lib Dem though? That's the real question.
  9. Unbeaten in our last 3 outings v Hibs. I'm positive. I think.
  10. Yeah, I've seen that posted before, I guess my point was that in this world where I get my normal league, it wouldnt just end after 3 rounds of games like @craigkillie seemed to be inferring. I wasnt saying it's the 12 team setup we have now. That's all really - didn't mean to cause all this chat. I still think the current setup is a bit regardless. But it's not changing anytime soon so what will be will be.
  11. Difficult decisions required. I think most could argue the positives to sign up all the current defenders as individuals but as a collective they are a shambles. I'd keep McGinn too but I wouldn't be keeping him and SOD for example. Difficult one
  12. Unless I'm not following we'd have another round of fixtures to go...
  13. My main dislike for it really is the manufactured nature of it. I get all the teams know what they need to do by this point in the year etc. and it's been signed up to etc. But taking us this season, we are still in the hunt for 5th place really you could argue but because of the split happening that could be whipped away come the weekend. When in a normal league where we have another round of fixtures we could perhaps eat away at the gap and get there. Watched too many meaningless end of season games where we are so far off it from the others in the top 6 or pretty safe so the remaining games v the bottom 6 are pretty meaningless. I'd just rather it was a normal league structure basically The fannies who can't get their head around the points totals at the end of their season...I'm not in their camp...it's fairly straightforward that element. I also get the positives about teams around each other playing each other and the impact of that. Just feels manufactured and not for me really. It's not a deal breaker like - just not a fan
  14. All this split chat reminds me how much I dislike the split. Poo.
  15. Can only shake my head at some of the replies to that and the follow up tweet. Not the ones posting the 50+1 stuff...the others. Brain dead.
  16. It's a fair post and one I'd imagine a good % of fans would agree with. I really don't know what I'd do if we dropped down the leagues. I 100% think we'd exist - but would I continue with a season ticket and going to every home game? As I posted previously I'm feeling at a bit of a personal cross roads with the us at the moment. Not particularly enjoying the home games due to quality in show, stopped going to away games due to young family. I'm not sure watching us play Arbroath and Dunfermline in the Championship really floats my boat. I'm a glory hunter basically I think. Haha.
  17. I'm sure @JayMFC can clear up a few of these points @capt_oats But yeah, I guess I posted about this before like 500 pages ago probably, but a wee explainer about the governance structure and who can do what would be lovely. Quicker the WS website is back the better. I do expect an chairman and exec board to be able to do stuff without seeking majority shareholder confirmation as long as they are kept updated along the way. But it's the not knowing which leaves us wondering...obvious statement but that's the gap here.
  18. I've got no skin in the game here but I disagree. For this to be done properly the club are going about it in the right way and professionally. Get the expressions of interest and high level bids. Discuss them. Disregard some. Now into a period of more or less exclusitvity but without any binding commitments either way. Get both sides to write down and agree formally what the intentions are and then out to the shareholders, of which the WS are the majority. Even then it can be negotiated if it's not attractive. Alternative is either put a half baked idea to shareholders that holds no water or extend the info vacuum longer which also gets criticism Unless fans are 100% against the idea of investment, which is fair enough, I don't think there is anything to really be annoyed or concerned about here. Yet.
  19. Just catching up on this and dipped into SOL there for the first time in a while... absolute morons still there I see. Haha. As for the statement, pretty par for the course, it's effectively entering bidder exclusivity. Not much can legally be said now. So we wait to see the outcome first then freak out I reckon. Not the now.
  20. Yeah that would be a different lens on it. As would not conceding horrendous defensive goals every game as well.
  21. It might just be my individual situation (40 odd year old, been going to FP for 30+ years, young family taking up more of my time). But yesterday was really a prime example of how I am beginning to struggle with watching us. Probably should be happy getting a point from that but again come away with a very 'meh' feeling. Aware of the various reasons but the lack of quality throughout and lack of tactical nous/plan B/managerial stubborness is wrestling me down I have to say. I'm not chucking my season ticket or anything but I'm finding increasingly easy to miss games for other events etc. Really really hope next season Kettlewell can build an identity that is pleasant to watch, has some sort of other system that doesn't rely on wingbacks and can get more MFC academy players into the team
  22. Ben Hall is 27 now apparently. Not sure that's right. Time has went all weird https://www.newsletter.co.uk/sport/football/northern-ireland/ben-hall-embracing-challenge-of-taking-on-more-responsibility-in-heart-of-defence-at-treble-chasing-linfield-4573467
  23. He's at least contributed a wee bit last season and scored off his arse at Parkhead. I'd say there's a number worse be he certainly is not anywhere near good or even average
