  1. 12 and a bit hours to go until the Edinburgh Half starts and I'm beginning to kack myself. Partly because I haven't ran in over a month and partly because I'm starting to realise how unprepared I am. I've just realised I don't even have a watch. If any of you see someone asking people the time whilst limping around the course then that'll be me.
  2. Mine arrived this morning. I've only raised £350 so far but have had promises of a further £50 odd. Then hopefully my work is going to bump up my total quite a bit as MacMillan Cancer Support is their nominated charity for this year.
  3. No I've not got mine either. I did an 8 mile walk/jog with my dog yesterday. Calf feels ok today so I reckon I'll be fine a week on Sunday.
  4. I doubt it. I'm just gonna take it very easy and hope that I'm most of the way round before my calf goes pop. It'll be a nightmare if it goes early and I have to walk most of the way. I've been revising my estimated time upwards on a fairly regular basis. What time are you aiming for Reina? You must be thinking that sub 2 hours is possible. It sounds like your training has been going well.
  5. Me. Although I've not been able to run for a month due to problems with my right calf. Just gonna try and bluff it on the day
  6. 7 miles into my run last night I got a sharp pain in my right calf which was bad enough to make me stop running immediately. I went and had a sports massage this morning and hope it was worth all the pain. I've not experienced pain like that in a while. Time for me to take a week off from running. 5 weeks to go
  7. I'm doing this one a week on Sunday. Balfron 10k
  8. Well done. It sounds like your training is going great. 9 weeks to go!
  9. I'm 5 weeks into my 16 week training program for the Edinburgh 1/2 marathon. The most I've ran is 10k (54 mins) but I think that, as long as I don't get any injuries etc, I should be in reasonable shape by the end of May.
  10. I went to the Run4It at Tiso in Glasgow and after trying about 6 different pairs ended buying a pair of Asics. I've since seen them online for £15 quid cheaper but don't mind that since the service was so good. They analsyed a video of me running in each pair and examined my old trainers for wear etc. It turns out I run a bit strange, my left foot dooesn't land straight so the trainers might help prevent any over pronation that that causes.
  11. I'm similar to you Jupe. After reading that Reina was running for Macmillan I've signed up to raise money for them by running at Edinburgh (I'm only doing the half tho). Have only run a few 10ks and one half marathon before and that was a few years ago but I've created a 16 week training plan and am strangely motivated (partly through fear). Good luck with your training and remember that if it all goes wrong then it Reina's fault.
  12. Could you, or anyone else, tell me where they think is the best shop in or around Glasgow for getting measured for new trainers? Ta.
  13. Do you not just have to reformat the cells so they show %? 1- Right click on cells 2- Click on format cells 3- Select "percentages". That would work in excel.
  14. I've been invited to a birthday party at Ayr Races on Saturday. All food and drink is free so I'm thinking of betting the amount that I'd normally spend on booze. However I know nothing about betting on horses so am looking for any tips. The full race card can be found here. I was was also wondering how easy it would be for me to open lots of accounts with bookies to use the free first bets on each of the races.
  15. It's not really a scheduled rotation. They have just decided that the games can not get held in the same continent that one of the last two tournaments have been held in. For example the 2018 tournament can't get awarded to an African or South American country. I guess the short answer is there is no way of knowing what continent will host the 2030 World Cup.
  16. I'll have you know that the sun is splitting the sky here. I'm even thinking about taking off one of my jumpers.
  17. I cut my grass for the first time this year. It's not looking that great but I'm just glad that my lawnmower started at all. I really don't know why I bought a petrol lawnmower. It's a pain in the arse, partly because my garden is so bumpy.
  18. An unsual flag a good way for people to find you. Taking saltires to a festival in Scotland is wrong.
  19. An alternative way to thicken the sauce is to add some beurre manie (flour and butter).
  20. My friends and me spent an entire day in November planting over a 1000 hedges* around the field at the back of my house. I don't know how many of them will have been killed by the really cold weather. *Well I say hedges but they were little more then twigs.
  21. Sure the flowers might only last a few days but she'll remember for ever if you don't buy them. Woman never forget shit like that.
  22. You should. They are cracking for making a lazy Sunday dinner. Just throw all the ingredients in, switch the cooker on and then forget about it. It's hassle free and I imagine it's just about impossible to burn the food so you can get on with what ever you have to do and then eat dinner whenever you want. ps. Unleash the Nade I accidently gave your post a green thingy but I'll take it back unless you buy a slow cooker.
